  • CHi is betta for me.

  • i'll recommend you to have FHI instead =] it will just heat up in just 15 seconds or something.. and not even a minute... you can use it even with a dump hair.. and it has adjustable temp... just a quick review

  • Sorry but the FHI is a knockoff of the GHD, the GHD also heats up in 15 secs. And the GHD doesn't have temp adjust because of the chip that senses hairs texture and adjusts accordingly. This prevents you from burning your hair.

     Not being rude, just saying.

  • knockoff? does that mean it doesnt work as good?

  • Um yeah pretty much, the GHD was the first iron to use ceramic, and is in my opinion the best iron you can get because of it's many features which I listed below. Many companies ( CHI, FHI, and others) have tried to copy GHD, but fail. if you look at these irons, they all look similar to GHD, even their names are similar, but they will never be as good as the GHD. Thats just my opinion however. You can see for yourself and compare. But I think this video speaks for itself.

  • oh okay, i was just wondering cause ive been looking for a good hair straightener, but i dont have enough money to buy multiple to try a trial and error, so im just going on peoples reviews on them, thanks! ill save up for a ghd!

  • no prob.. im just sharing though....=]

  • i hope this doeant affend u, but u no u can pay way less for a ghd at sally's

  • Thanks for the info, cuz I could never afford that!

  • I am afraid to tell you but this site is seling fake ghd's so be awear please look for a certificated site you can go to the counterfit page that the ghdhair site has and go to the site checker and this site does not check so please be awear fake ghd are dangerous ^^

  • closed. And this also means the GHD can straighten hair at a lower

temp which means less damage to your hair.

    6. The GHD does cost more. BUT if you get your GHD from a salon ( NOT

ONLINE) Your GHD should come w/ a 4 yr warranty. I say should because

when my store sells them to the salon, there is a 2 yr warranty plus 2

    w/ the manufacturer.

  • 5. The GHD has a chip in it to sense the porosity and texture of the

hair and adjusts itself accordingly. Also what is important to

understand about any straightener is that it's not about how hot it gets, it's about the type of heat. The GHD straightens hair from the

inside out vs. outside in like most other straighteners. This is

because of the high grade of ceramic the ghd uses. This is also why

she refers to her hair being "flatter" Her hair isn't "flatter" the

    cuticle has simply been

  • 3. The GHD has rounded floating plates. This means that the edges of

the plates are rounded and they also move from side to side so that

when you curl your hair you don't get ugly crimps in your hair.

    4. The GHD has a grid shaped heating element instead of an "S" shaped

one to prevent hot spots in the plates which can lead to "snagging" of

    the hair.

  • Hi everyone, I sell GHD's and I think this is a great video and it did a great job of demonstrating the GHD. However some of the features are

not clearly explained as to how and why the GHD is better, so I will clarify them for you:

    1. GHD takes only 20 seconds to heat up. It has a 30 minute sleep timer, and if you go to use it after it shuts off, it will heat back up.

    2. There is also a shiver mode. It will shut off if taken into a room

less than 46 degrees to prevent internal condensation.

  • lol LSD-LED... :P

  • LSD light?

  • iv had my ghds for 6 years and there my sisters and we use them everyday and they have never broken and they dont damage your hair

  • I want a CHI :)

I have a wet to straight straightener...I have the thickest hair ever and it works amazing on it...but the cord is held together with electrical tape after my demon puppy chewed it off.

  • GHDs don't work on my hair

    :(

    xXx

  • I also got kind of dissappointed with CHI flat irons, I think I'm going to try GHD

    (: thanks!

  • the chi takes longer but isn't the chi an Older model

  • I bought my CHI in '99

so ive had it for over 10 yrs now,

and i have thick curly hair,

i can straighten/ curl my hair just fine wit it !

the only thing is my hair is so dameged so i only flat iron once a month ??

i wanna try that GHD though, sounds intresting

  • GHDs are like the bestt

the new ones beep faster too ;]

  • ok on ebay i got mine for 41 dollars and its authentic you dont need to pay more then 200 dollars for one

  • i only payed £150 on my purple ghds with a gift set from tony&guy and they're exactly the same and there the lates ones aswell

  • omgg i LOVED ur video!! :D

  • My Chi was $250, it heats up in less than a minute, and it straightens my waist length Shirley Temple curls in 20 minutes... and it lasts me three days with no touch ups.

  • what chi do you have? thanks!

  • what type of purse is that on the desk in the back ground,, it looks like my LV PURSE,, cute,

    angel

  • hhhm GHD from UK and Australian Official Websites are way cheaper than Beautychoice

  • "To me there's no comparison" i completely agree. I had a chi for years, used a friend's GHD at college and bought one. They are amazing!

  • Haha I have the same problem with turning off my CHI but I have a stand for mine so I don't have to worry about it burning down my house. :] Also, my CHI curls my hair like dream!! I love mine and I think that part of the reason yours is slower to heat and whatnot is because it's older/an older model. I love the CHI lol but I know GHD works awesome too!! Love ya Elle! xox

  • it's so funny, at the end you are saying you like white electronics so much; me too! I have a white camera, white mobile phone, am saving for a white computer and I just love love love white electronics! And about the straighteners, I know I don't have one yet but I was going to try one out which costs between 25 and 40 bucks so.. I think the chi is already quite expensive

  • I think if u have a newer on like mine I got at thanksgiving (my CHI) and it heats up just as fast as ur GHD did.

  • im pretty sure that if my 45 dollar Remington straightener that ive had for 2 years can curl my hair, a CHI would too....

  • i have like the newer version of the CHI, and i think its amazing it gets my hair really straight and heats up way faster than your did. Idk maybe its just me that likes the CHI alot better than you make it sound.

  • that sucks that the GHD is 240 bucks i got mine for $150 at cosmoprof but you need to be a cosmetologist to get it at that price

  • the newer chi straighteners are better.

  • i always forget to turn off my straightener.

and when i come home from school my mom yells at me and gives me like a 30 minute lecture about the possibilty of our house burning down :p

  • I have SUPER thick hair and I tried both the CHI and the FHI and it doesn't entirely straighten my hair... sometimes it looks like I used a Krimpler and my hair looks a little boofy and still frizzy. I use all the products I need but the CHI doesn't work.. so I might try the GHD since I do have really thick and frizzy hair.

  • I have the same issues with my hair and I can honestly tell you the ghd is the best. My hair has never been smoother or more healthy looking. I get compliments on it all the time and people at work said they noticed a difference in my hair. I used an FHI for years but never realized how much smoother my hair could be until I got my ghd. I got the iron, carrying case and heat protectant for $270 on ghd's online store. My aunt is a hair dresser and swears by them too!

  • Thanks for the info! I'm going to try and get a GHD soon. I'd rather spend the extra $100 on something that will wok rather than spend $150 on something that doesn't work.

  • lol 240 dollars is insane for a straightenner!!! i mean i am crazy about keeping my hair perfect but geez!

  • woww.. my chi is so much better!

  • i got mine at a POSH hair salon and it came with a concealer and 4 MAC lipglosses But there only like little samples but they are good :D i live in England btw so i dont know if they do that in america :D

  • my hair is curly curly & so far the chi has worked good but it just leavez my hair like straight but not straight straight you feel? haha well Dankz Now I know wut to buy when I have money

  • also if it over heata!

  • i have the pink GHD

  • i tried GHD, and it didnt work for me.I then spent $35 on a babyliss straightner and its amazing. Takes 15 seconds to heat up and gets up to 250 degrees. So wierd 0-o

  • where did u get the babyliss?

  • I have the GHD salon styler.. the one with the really big plates for thicker hair. and it only cost me £116 and im in the UK- i got some GHD body products with it also ..

  • i have a different model of the CHI you're using. It looks like the GHD. it was like $150 and I am in love with it. You don't need to spend $100 on a straightener that will do almost exactly the same thing but thats just my opinion.

  • my chi heats up SO much faster than that.

  • i used my friends chi yesterday and it didnt leave it poofy .

and it is hot enough to curl . cause i have so i think its yours lol

  • i have the limited edition pure ghds and theyre white and glossy and make my hair amazingly shiny and STRAIGHT! love them!!;D

  • i love my CHI. i think its way better than yours :/

  • the GHD doesn't have a heat temperature setting

  • mine heated up as fast as the GHD and i have a CHI, but my CHI looks like the GHD.

  • My Chi heats up faster than that, mine takes like 30- 45 seconds.

  • why would u pay so much for a straightner

  • Hmm,

    I registered mine as well,

but I honestly still think mine's fake

because people said if the plug doesnt have a reset button and is like a regular plug, it's fake.

I dont know further information though

  • I got mine at a beauty salon and it doesn't have a reset button, but I know it's not a fake.

  • The CHI that I have does not take that long. It takes about the same time as the GHD but my CHI looks like the GHD so I think it's a different model.

  • its 100 in ireland <3 i love ghds (:

the pink & purple one (:

    x

  • I have a question. I bought my ghd straightener from a website and just received my package. Only problem was that the plug on the cord wasn't able to fit any of my outlets. It's the kind of plug that's desigened for outlets in the UK and I'm in the US. My question is: was yours sent to you like that? What do you think is best that I should do? I don't want to have to return it, I already bought it for $150. Thank you & just wanted to say that I love watching your videos! =]

  • ghds bubs <3 loveeeeeeeeeeee x

  • Nice video, i love the GHD, i have the pink one.. its lush :) x

  • you look so much like kate hudson!!

    great vid! x

  • hey thanks.

  • I just went on the GHD website and it's listed $240, not $194 like you said.

  • she never said it was $194

  • I didn't mean the author of this video. My comment was a reply to another commenter who said that the author of this video was incorrect about the price.

  • OK DO NOT GET THE WHITE ONE THERE FAKE

  • Any flat iron is possibly counterfeit if you buy it from a website like Amazon, eeBay, or even BeautyChoice, but GHD DOES manufactor a white flat iron, called the Pure Styler, and it is not fake if you buy it from a GHD approved seller.

  • what is tournaline? cuz my ultra chi has it but i have no idea wat it is.

  • GHDs

  • can you get the new patterned pink and purple ghd in the US? theyre so pretty. It doesn't get any better than the ghd!

  • Has anyone tried both the black and the white? Is there any difference between the two besides the color?

  • yeah i have.. if you compare the black and white ghd to the normal ghd is that it has a rounder barrel which makes curling easier.

  • Can I use ghd with wet hair?

I already took it in dark pink!

    xxx

  • You can only do that with straighteners that has tourmaline not only ceramic plates.

  • Nope, only on dry hair.

  • I Have A CHI & I've Had For A While Now. But It's My Second Or Third One Now! And Yeah, I Understand When She Talks About The CHI Making Your Hair Poofy Because That Happens To Me & It Does Take A While To Heat Up & Sometimes That Gets On My Nerves!

  • Hair straightners are expensive :D lol

  • white ghds are limited edition. and are really hard to get now in the uk

  • i have them :)

they look good but when you curl your hair the black writing on the top starts to smudge because they are so hot.

  • I have a CHI and it tends to grab onto my hair when I use it. I also get what she says about the poofy thing, my CHI straightens but doesn't smooth my hair. I am super tempted to get a GHD.

  • Thank you sooo much! I was wondering if the GHD was worth it. Totally buying it now!

  • I dunno why but I like the GHD :)

  • haha LSD :)

  • Can anyone tell me how these 2 straighteners compare to the Remmington Shine Therapy? (if you have tried the Remmington and the others)...I want a good straightener for making wavy hair but don't want to spend over 120 dollars.... thanks. :)

  • well idk about Remington, but i have a porcinel Series Straighter, i bought almost 4 years and its Still running strong and i got it for 88$ at sallys, if you want a cheaper one go to Sallys or something, and ask one of them and they will tell you.

  • the GHD is amazin ive had mine for 4 years n its still goin strong :) love it totally reconmend!! xx

  • Comment removed

  • Not true - I verified mine with the official GHD website.

  • Comment removed

  • the ghd is "okay" my mom bought 2, and honestly I mean they're okay but.. :L not worth 200 bucks. You CAN get a cheaper and better one.

  • the GHD is class - i have the one u have in the vid and my sis has the wide one so i have the best of both worlds!!

  • loveeeeeeee u

  • how did u noe that the chi one was study or not?? was there like a sound or something?? but i couldnt hear it..

  • I am shocked these cost $240 they are cheaper in the UK and most people in the UK have these??? How did it take you so long to find them? I have had three now and have used GHD for 8 years! x x

  • i bough a 15 dollar flat iron from walmart that automatically turns off after about 45 minutes and it heats up really quick and has a butt load of heat settings... you dont HAVE to spend a hundred dollars on a flat iron to get that... overall great vid

  • What one is that?

  • andis multi heat ceramic... thats what it says cuz i dont have the box anymore... its a great flat iron

  • HI fun vid!

  • i HEART my GHD i have the white one x

  • GHD are my favourites ever couldn't live without them.

  • ive got the limited edition pure ghd's and theyre white and amaaaaazing!! love em;D

  • EEP thank you so much you have convised my mum 2 get me a pair of GHD'S 4 my birthday YAH

  • Elle do a Taylor swift teardrops on my guitar tutorial!!

  • i have had my GHD for 6 years!! they are fantastic. you will totally get yor moneys worth. trust me. buy it!

  • I LOVE my GHD's.. Had them for nearly 2 years now and they are the best purchase I've ever made! Totally gets you your moneys worth, especially seeing as I use mine nearly everyday! :) x

  • my favorite is the croc!

  • Elle make a new video We Miss you!!!!

    Pretty Please!.

  • if you live in the uk you can get the ghd for £90 as it is a Bitish straightener so if you are thinking of buying it i would definately try ebay or uk shops as it is way cheaper :) love your vids too elle

  • i have the GHD but i tyred to do curls and it didnt work :(

  • aw thanks this is alot of help obvouislyt cos im form uk prices are all diff due to £ $

But i have alway wonderd if they were worth it so thank you ! :)

  • Your make up is lovely in this video!

  • Im sure when she bought it it was $240

  • to hijabia00

    WHATS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN

  • YOU DON'T HAVE TO WRITE IN CAPITALS!

I'm sure she won't make up that price from the top of her head AND she wouldn't put it in the info box. They might be on SALE/DISCOUNTED now...!

  • p.s-I was replying to justbreathe86

  • i have had a chi for about a year now and i absolutely love it! i have never had any of the problems mentioned. i can even curl my hair with it, and it never leaves my hair frizzy. i did some research on the chi's and alot of ppl said that the colored chi's are made of a different material than the original black chi's so the black ones get hotter... i have a black one. so worth it!

  • I have a Chi and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. But my best friend has a GHD and she swears by it - so between that and your video I'm even more curious about the GHD:)

  • I have a pair of SHE straighteners which are like half the price of the ghds and they heat up faster than the chi!

  • go GHD!!!

  • OMG! u almost spent about 300 dollars for 1 straightner...

  • can you do a vid on the paul mitchell flat iron vs the chi. I just wanted to say that the paul mitchell falt iron makes your hair smooth and sleek not like the chi where it makes your hair stick straght. the price on the paul mitchell is a whole lot better then the GHD.

  • LOL u never noticed u had poofy hair? Cute!

  • ghd is worth the money, i own one and i can tell its really good.

  • My GHD Is Pink and i love it

  • i think folica is cheaper :)

  • hey i was just wondering, when you use a high heat (like 250 degrees) on your hair with the GHDs, doesn't it make your hair smell like it's been burnt? because even though I use protection i can't put it on higher that 190 degrees or else my hair smells- that makes me sound like i don't wash... i do :)

    thanks :)

  • whoa my GHD was £80 :)

  • also the ghd plates move slightly so when u straighten your hair, it moves according to the position of ur wrist - awesome!! i've had mine for agess and it still works as good as it did 2 years agoo x x

  • The GHD looks like a great investment and i trust your vids so, I'm gonna look into buying one. The only thing i want to know is how well it keeps hair straight in humid conditions. If you notice that it does a great job, let us know! thanks!

    You rock elle!!

  • I've owned several CHI's and the reason they have broken is my Own Fault! I used to wrap the cord around the chi itself and that caused some type of short circuit in it so it would only turn on if i put the cord a certain way. I finally bought 2 more and i'm more careful about how i wrap the cord. I turn mine on, and do something else like pick out my clothes or start on my make up, no issues.

  • I like the CHI a lot better than GHD. I personally think the CHI starightens hair better.

  • sorry ment to say yours not years

  • ive had my GHDS 6 YEARS yes 6! never broke nothing perfect and their even the older version of years(they don't beep or have the sleep mode) but exact size and shape REALLY its a good investmnet CHI's are for curling GHD'S are for straightening ur hair end of story

  • Haha I Like White Electronics Aswell, I Have A Ghd Straightner And When I Seen The White One I Was Like :O I Wan t That So I Saved And Saved And Got Them Lol

But I Use My Black Ones Everyday I Use My White Ones For Travel Etc Lol

I Know Half Of That Was A Randon Blabber But Anyway :D

    I Love Your Vuds :)

  • Hey Elle did you realize this is your 100th video?? :)

  • i 'd make some coffee while it heats up....and buy 100$ worth of coffee with my savings XD

    lol

  • Do you know how hot these two get? I know the Chi I have gets up to about 350 degrees. I don't know if the newer ones are different.

  • GHDs heat up to 360 :)

  • I'm sorry. I never meant to say that she "looked tired" in a mean way. I just thought she looked exhausted but then again, I enjoyed the video and I loved her look. So, please, can you guys who took my comment the wrong way, STOP sending me hate messages because that was never my intention and I apologize to Elle. I'm sorry you took it the wrong way. Great vid though!

  • Its really not youre fault, when i first saw this video i thought the same thing, and its because she's wearing like a blue-is color like a liner on top and bottom and that tends to make you look tired. Because its similar to the color of bags under your eyes. So,.. yea.

  • i curl my hair perfectly with my chi, you were doing it pretty wrong lol :P but ya im sure ghd is better i dont doubt that, thanks for making this,

  • GHD is now $194.40 id your wondering

  • i think the reason it took so long is bc its like 3 years old and i have a chi and it takes like 5 seconds

  • ahhh... great help.

  • OMG your just like me! I love white electronics as well! By the way i believe the white one is limited so hurry while it last!

    Take care

    XOXO

  • the CHI wires are defected because I have had 3 CHI's that broke. & i am not rough w/ my stuff, lol.

    but it is true...

  • I wish CHI'S turned off automatically, cause last year I got a pink CHI and this year I left it on while I was at school, I came home turned it off, and tried to turn it back on, it was broken.

  • well...a new GHD might work better then your CHI becouse your CHI is 3 years old... A new CHI probably works just as good!

  • U R Gorgeous!

  • I <3 GHD!

    i havee itt :D x

    haha , never tried chi

    but now i don't want tooo :P x

  • i love my chi, it heats up in a few seconds and i didn't think the ghd was much better for the price.

  • Could you please make a video where you use both of these straighteners so that we could see the difference between the look that the two give?

    Thanks!

  • thank you so much for doing this review!!! ive been looking for a good review on a GHD becasue ive been thinking about getting one for a while

  • sephora has white, pink, black, and traditional ghd straighteners

  • I totally agree with you. I bought my chi a couple of years ago and id doesn't curl, it just bends my hair....today right before i started watching ur video i was kind of combing my hair with my hands and i noticed my hair was really straight but poofy. Also i agree with you that for the money it should turn off automatically. I bought a conair one for around 50 or 60 dollars and it turned off automatically and frankly, it worked better.

    Great Video I'm getting a GHD : )

  • i so agree i alway forget to turn off my iron

  • hmm..everything your saying about the chi is not true about mine..i bout a pink one last summer, and it heats up fast and curls my hair, and never gave me any problems. I also used a rusk straightener before that but the chi worked on my hair better bc i have thick hair.

i think the newer chi's may be better than the one you have, bc mine is completely not what you say about it. but the ghd seems sooo cool, if i didnt just buy my chi i would buy it.

    <3 ur vids!

  • From the way you demo'd it, I don't think you use the straightner properly and that is why your hair stays poofy. Using a hotter tool is not good for your hair.

  • I have had GHDs for 3 years and i LOVE THEM! I use them everyday! In the UK i think they are around £100 (: xx

  • The GHD seems cool, but I already have a CHI and don't have enough money to get a GHD right now...so I think I'm going to wait until my CHI dies out. :)

    Another good video!

  • My Haiirr was naturallyyy curleyy

ii used ghd onceee and it went dead straightt

and stayed straight for like 2 days

    even aftaaa washiingg

  • Hey, the GHD is down to 194.40!

    I'm totally getting it!

  • my ghd doesnt turn of by itself my friends does tho "/ and mine looks exactly like ures maybe its an older version of it lolm :)

thanks ure very helpfull :D and i love all of ure tutorials :D

  • i love my GHD'S ive had it for 3 and a half years its still GREAT !

  • Thanks for the good review. Do you use the CHI heat protectant? Would you recommend it? I need one..

  • Re: AWeekendIn TheCity - I have a Chi thermal spray and I love it. I used to have the Tresemme but it made me party dizzy, duno why...so I tried the Chi and never made me dizzy (knock on wood) :-) try it.

  • I have a pink GHD <3

  • I have a pink GHD and I loooooove it! They are more expensive, but for a reason, they are totally worth it!

  • my CHI heats up alot faster than that..
