Cpl. Miller your story caught my eye as my father was also Cpl. Miller USMC (1944-1952). He died in 1971 leaving a wife and 4 young sons. Christmas for us was looking bleak. A few days before Christmas there was a knock on the door, I awnswered it and ther stood a Marine in his dress blues with a bag of toys. It is one of the most profound memories of my childhood and I am eternally grateful. It wasn't so much the toys but just knowing someone cared. I know my dad would have been proud.
@CplMiller1964 ...My name is Jeannine Miller and I am CPL Miller's only daughter. I grew up hearing my dad's story and It has always made me cry. I couldnt imagine what my father went thru during those years..he's had it rough and good, but no matter what, he always pulls thru! My dad not only has a huge heart but the beating of a good Marine behind him. He is the best dad in the world no matter what. Dad, on a personal note...I LOVE you SO much and am so proud of you! love always, Jeannine
I remember sitting around the table as he told me this story. I had forgotten some of the details, but I remembered most. And yes, by "he", I mean Gary Miller himself. He is my grandfather :) I am very proud of my grandfather, and everything he has done. Im proud of what I come from :)
The 2010 Second Life toy drive has been a success by any measure. Over 12k dollars has been sent to the charity.
I want to say because it should be said, thank you to all the entertainers and sponsors that contributed their music and gifts, the venue owners that hosted the events, the coders that make it all work, and most of all the residents who donated 3.5 million Lindens.
Nothing is ever expected, everything is appreciated.
I found the video through the Second Life Toys for Tots CD. It's so good to know that despite chronic pain and illness, medication costs, unemployment, and all of life's difficulties, there's something as -easy- we can do as just give a toy to a child, and immediately make their world, and ours, a better place. Thank you for your story... tears notwithstanding.
First let me say how sorry I am for your loss, but keep in mind, YOU gave love where love was needed. Even to the end, and I commend you for what you did/are doing for these children.
Even though I didn't post this video it is needed if for no other reason to bring light to the children all around us, and their needs during the holidays.
I knew a young orphan child near and dear to me...she passed away this year coz of leukemia....
She was my angel and my absolute everything with her friend Daniel....another young boy whom i see like my own child, both Sarah and Daniel are orphans.
I can't express how much this video has touched my heart and soul....
my love is with you CPL Miller....
May God bless all our children of the world and comfort them with love...
What a great story & job on the video! I met a young man, not a Marine but with a similar story about TFT last year. I am a Marine Vet and a Toys For Tots Coordinator in NorCal and have posted this on our FB page. Great job, very inspiring! Semper FI!
Wonderful. Gene and I donate a toy every year, but I never knew the story of how it begun, This will give you goosebumps, it is well worth the 10:00 minutes. Watch it.
I really appreciate all the hard work you did on this video for my Dad and the Toys for Tots. I hope this video will inspire more people to donate to the cause. Thanks again for all you have done.
Potlatch Foggarty, Pat Wunderland, and others have done an awesome job for the past few years raising money for Toys For Tots. Keep up the great work guys!!!
I have enjoyed many of Potlatch's video's. From my perspective this is his masterpiece. I want to thank Cpl Gary Miller for his story and beyond that, thank Gary and all the men and women "dressed like kings" for their service and dedication. I encourage all that view this emotional and heart warming video to share it with friends. I am certain those you share with will feel pride in knowing that those that are "Always Faithful" do much more then guard the wall.

For the record,
Potlatch you did one hell of a job putting this video together. After all these years it's still hard to view...too many memories.
Thanks again to you, and all that donate to the Toys for Tots program, it's a mission the Corps has been on for some time now.
