I am still shocked at how under appreciated this guy was. He was smokin hot in more ways than one. Killer guitarist, killer vocals, killer songwriter. WE still miss you!
I am listening to the Innocent Age and today my fave song is Lost in the Sun. Thought I'd check out the concert vid again for the umpteenth time! Still missing Dan, we lost him 4 years ago next week. Sad that one so blessed with talent was taken so young. He was amazing!
This is a great song that should have been a major hit! Again, do these radio DJ's ever look deeply into their souls and look for songs with deep maeaning? And, of course, it rocks! Peace and love, BobbyK
I agree with u Dawn...Most people only remember him as the light airy voice in "Longer" I saw him live many times..What a powerful singer/guitarist.. He really was and is the best
Oh, my gosh...i have goosebumps!....haven't heard this song in over 25 yrs! It is such an absolutely awesome song!! Why don't they put music like this on the radio now?! Thanks for posting this!!
Why did I have to be 6 years old when this concert was given? And why didn't my parents take me to it? Should have pedaled the Big Wheel all the way to Houston.
Sometimes this song gets lost in the incredible list of songs on this finest of all albums, in my opinion. But what a great song and a fine performance. Thanks for posting. you've put up some great things.
Which one do you mean? There are going to be several across the country, the first is in Sellersville, Pa. on August 13. If you mean a large-scale one, nothing has been posted on Living Legacy.
If you go into the Living Legacy site, it will give you all the details and you can get tickets there also. asquare176 and I both have tickets to go! Jim Photoglo is one performer, check out the site! It would be great if you joined us!
I have to agree with everything you last three have said. The Danfans here on the Tube are a phenomenal bunch aren't they? All the wonderful comments and posts have helped immensely. Yeah, you're right Bev, most don't "get it". And asquare, I'm jealous about the PA concert, I used to live about an hour from where the PA concert will be, but not now...damn. I'm hoping to catch the Austin concert with a great friend of mine. But drop us a DF's a line after the show ok? Have a great time! BB
BB, Amy and I are so excited to be able to attend the PA concert. I feel very lucky to be able to honor Dan on his birthday and to support the PCF. It will be bittersweet, because Dan won't be with us...or will he? We will let all the DanFans know how it goes!
Decided to take time and check out other's channels.. Tim, thank you for all you do to keep Dan and his music in the Ever On! And Becster, I'm planning on the Austin trip with a great friend too :) Can't wait to trade stories with everyone and share pictures and hope to run into some of ya! Let It SHINE!
Sometimes I want to express to others the sense of loss that I can't shake quite yet but I know the response won't have the real concern or understanding that I would be yearning for. It seems that the only place I really find that is right here with all you Dan Fans.
I also know what you mean. People look at me with this blank stare when I even mention Dan. Can you imagine their reaction if I said my heart was broken when I found out he had passed. This IS the only place where I have found some solace. Only someone else who loved Dan can relate to the pain of knowing he isn't here with us. At least, not here physically. But here in our hearts and souls.
We all feel that sense of loss, that you are feeling. He was a great guy! I would listen to other posting when he was younger and he would say things that reminded me of these really cool guys that I hung out it.I felt he was a kindred spirit of mine and for many, through his music.I truly believe he was on this earth for a reason! He had a old soul, as if he lived many life times over.I am more spiritual than religious. He was an angel that walked among us.I am very opened to that possibility?Yes!
Damn, I wish I had this video...there must be a tape that's producing all these Houston 1982clips, correct? When did Dan have his tonsils removed...supposedly lowering his vocal range? I ask because he was struggling and/or dodging the high notes in this song. Wonder if Ghosts was ever taped live?
Hey billp, I believe I read that he had them removed in 80 or 81 as he said in an interview it took longer to recupe as he was 30 years old. I thought the same thing about the high notes but he mentioned in a different vid that it was the last night of the tour (?) and his voice was going. He still sounded terrific though, and I would also love to see Ghosts on video if it's around anywhere...one of my faves. BB
hey billp1955. the way i recall the interview he was vacationing in hawaii after the recording of inocent age.he was troubles with tonsils for long time which brought on fever etc. he felt the trade off of feeling better with a lower voice was worth it.
Thanks for another wonderful video... I miss him so much. Drives me crazy when I mention to people what a fan I am, and they smirk and start singing "Longer". Wish they could have been in the audience for this, or any or his shows. Incredible talent, incredible loss...
Longer was another Maggie song. I believe if I read correctly, he was vacationing in Hawaii with her. He wrote that while hanging out on the beach. Unfortunately, Longer really pigeoned holed him as a soft rocker and some what sappy and that was a shame. I totally agreed with the comment that he made, he wrote much better songs than Longer.Your friends should of seen him in concert.Their loss and more for us to enjoy! He had such a "WoW" factor on stage.Saw him in 2002, and he still had it!
That is true. But can you really name a more beautiful love song than Longer? It's quite a bit like the Beatles, 'Here, There and Everywhere'; and I never heard anyone bitch about those sappy Beatles...or Clapton's wonderful tonight...or fabulous ballads by many other famous artists. Still, I never heard a valid musician (and I've known many over the years) that dissed Fogelberg...just lackies that can't play or sing a note and aren't secure in their gender role...
I am more melody driven than lyrical. This can be played without the lyrics and it's awesome. He wrote the best melodies! If Dan had written more songs like this, straight forward not using metaphors as he did in most songs,he would of been a force to be reckoned with especially in top 40 pop music.Longer is a beautiful written Love song to Maggie. She had so much influence on his writing. He was obviously very smitten by her.Longer should be in the top 5 written Love songs of all time.
I was listening to Springsteen recordings live the other night and I was in disbelief. Of course he wrote some great stuff, but half the time his stuff is torture to listen to; but decades later he's all over the place. Everybody playing sloppy and singing so off key it sounds like last call at a Karaoke bar. Yet mainstream largely ignored possibly the most talented, prolific, accomplished musician of our generation, Dan; and praise that no-talent ass-clown. Why is that?
@dawn33800 Dan got tired of those smirks too. At one show he started singing the song and the audiance started making bird sounds and he stopped the song and said if they didn't stop, the show was over! Not another sound was heard!
Another favorite from TIA. I am a rockin'DanFan! Another great post. Thanks Tim!
FYI for DanFans. A tribute concert on August 13th,which would been Dan's 57th birthday will be held in Sellersville,PA. at the Sellersville Theatre. This will benefit the PCF.The Living Legacy website has the information. There will be tributes in Austin and Peoria, that information also on the website.I am in PA. and I have my ticket, so let's make this night a success for the PCF and to honor Dan.

I've always loved this song and felt that, like "Stolen Moments," was overshadowed by its famous cousins. Its so awesome to see this live!
