Guys. I got a book at Disneyland MADE by Disney. It says Disneyland got the original plans for Space Mountain. But it was cancelled. They built the Space Mountain for WDW. Then, they used a copy of it at Disneyland.

@Setheo1CP Space Mountain at Disneyland and Space Mountain at Walt Disney World couldn't be more different. Were plans drawn up for Disneyland first? Yes, but it was a very far cry from what the park got. Walt Disney World got the first iteration of Space Mountain in any Disney park, and that's fact.

Just curious.. What is the point of this ride if its all in darkness? You ride for the sound? I never been on this one each time i have been to park.

But for the others i was just curious because normally disney rides have a story behind them and i was just curious if this just had light at the start and the rest of it was just darkness and just sound?

I wasn't asking to be mean or as a joke. I was sincerely curious how it was.

Because most of the videos i have watched with it on here is total darkness.

@DreamThinkLive OH. Well videos don't do any ride justice. You can see stars, planets, and other space junk being projected onto the ceiling. So it's not total darkness. But sometimes, darkness adds more excitement to the ride, because you don't know which way the track in front of you will go. It just adds more of a "Surprise!" to the ride. Sorry if my earlier comment seemed a bit rude.

last summer i went to disney for two weeks in early august and it wasnt opened :\ i think the timing was pretty bad considering most guest go during the summer! they should've fixed it september-november instead of june-august!

Its really about time they added newer audio to WDW's Space mountain seeing as how ours is the original and is the least technologically advanced out of all the Space Mountains out there, I know true Disney fans dread and fear change but personally i welcome new advancements and feel many are needed in MK, I want to know why the Tomorrowland speedway still takes up space when it could and should be used for something new like "Cars land" The speedway never fit the theming of tomorrowland, IMO

@sentrakidsr20 Sorry to burst your bubble but Disneyland had the first Space Mountain. And the Tomorrowland Speedway is a classic. It isnt going anywhere anytime soon. Also Cars Land is at Disney California Adventure. They would never put a land like that in the Magic Kingdom. It doesnt fit the theming.

@Fillips74 If you ever go to Disney and ask an expert which Space Mountain was first, they will say Disneyland's. They always had an original concept for Disneyland first but it was cancelled or paused.

@TheGGRVlog but Disneyland's Space Mountain was supposed to open 8 years before DW's version, but they didn't have the technology for it at the time. So, Disneyland's version is somewhat the original.

it was up and running today. There is music in the unload area and you can hear it in the load area, and obviously on the ride. I don't know about the queue, but prepare yourself for a dance party while visiting Walt Disney World's most iconic roller coaster.

It seems to fit well with the Tomorrowland 1994 theme, which is strange to me. Besides all the recent Space Mountain updates, Tomorrowland seems to be dropping the 1994 changes. Stitch, Monsters Inc., the new TTAP soundtrack, etc.
