@keymani I just got an MPC4000 Plus late last year and started making my first beats in January. It's got a number of filtering options under its sample-editing menus for LP filters, HP filters, a vowelizer, etc. ive been messing around with them but even though I can sort of isolate a bassline or horn part it doesn't have the tight filtered sound of stuff like this or Beatminerz production. i'm probably just not doing it right cause im a newbie haha
@theyreout77 What you make beats or produce music on? hardware...software? In this case I know the SP1200 was used to make this track...the groove and "dirtiness" of the sample is a big indication.
Off topic but what ya'll think about NI's Maschine?
That's basically where it all started, I was a Dutch rapper and we have a lot of selling out here but I prefer these old skool basic patterns of beats with some nice multi dimensional feeling.. hip-hop on TV lost that feeling.. though Hip-Hop will always survive man, good luck making your beats.. and make them raw..=)
growin up, my attitude was i dont give a fuck, to survive on these streets, its all about luck, rappin over beats cuz in this life im stuck, i got no where to go, gettin complicated with my flows, so nobody knows of my gift, im sick, the real lyricist, experienced from slangin bricks, and tappin out hundreds of these bics, every day is a blur when you're outside standin on the curb, and rollin up the herb 365 x 3, im just a raw mc, whos hearin rhymes even in his dreams
I hang above all in the only place to be, Punk rappers amaze me, They say 21st Centaury, Rhymes are elementary, When it comes to rappin its like a recipe with different ingredients, I run the shit so stay obedient, Bust a rhyme whenever I say its convenient, I'm the general you're the private, Cause I'm the only one with hot rhymes in any climate, You sayin you betta then me? A contradiction, Cause I'm out of this world so they call me science fiction, Got blunts, cunts, every day of the months
The Infamous was the 1st Hip Hop album that I ever bought. At age 10 I didnt even know the significance of that album but as I got older I realised how much of a classic it was. These young niggas dont even remember what It felt like to come home with a new Tape/CD, be happy that you were the first one to get it and let your man dub that shit ONCE you done played it through about 4x
The temperature is rising On a high rate Niggas on they grind, they don't hesitate No remorse, they move fast like feather weights Leaving jabs controlling the game relax, re-take the feeling i Have for the game is the same No matter what the outcome is Even if it brings me fame The change is something that is needed Words like that are always, not intentionally repeated The game is all good, till shit gets heated so remain seated and remain calm u got your future fit inside of your palm
Livin in la and hearing this song for the first time in 95 when I was 16 really got me hooked on east coast rap. So nice to be able to hear the instrumental now. I like listening to rushen's where there is love and then going to this immediately afterwards
This is that Pelle Pelle rap with matching ACG's all black Big up to those riding the iron horse all day strapped Bump this shit on the daily like it was 95' Puffin' blunts of piff in my clean ass Acura ride Play the streets even when it's brick ass cold outside This has been the hardest winter ever But I'm still stacking cheddar rockin the flyest leathers Trudging through inches of snow My people ran through inches of blow That's why most of them is in the box or six feet below
I've listened to to this song so many times, and I never thought what I wonder right now...: maybe Dilla participate on this? Drums are Abstract's, no doubt, but sample? They are Dee-styled, and this is from '95; Q-Tip had already met Jay.
Definitely I don't know, I think I'll keep the doubt...
@iancurtis86 Oh g*d not another one. I can't listen to one TCQ-affiliated song without someone saying Dilla did the beat to every single little thing that TCQ has ever done. Why can't you accept that Tip and Shaheed are producers too?
@steeltownbrown52 no, man, I'm sure Tip did this (in fact, i hate those Dilla fanboys that think he produced all the dope tracks in the world). This snare (so hard) is trademark of his. This rhythm's got me reminiscing 26 years old I'm surprised I'm not in prison because when I was a juvenile I was trife livin We used to bump this shit outta stolen cars laying in the driver seat crackin dutch master cigars We got our eyes wide open for the long arm of the law Late night creeping in the streets Tan timbos hitting the cool concrete We used to hustle all day on our feet Well into the night before we peeped the police Fuck the coppers we yelled while getting chased by helicopters

My man was out for blood and was passing
