I like this version best!! I was NOT the biggest fan of disco when it first was popular..I was one of those "disco-sux" punks, but this song made the difference!!
lol..when i worked in a fast-food joint as a teenager, we used to disco-dance in the back room after cleanup..this is one of the songs we would dance to...
@bunnygal079 It was Bunnygal but it was'nt just the music, we were young too. That's the best part whenever you were born, even though it hurt when we screwed up as the young often do. We had it all though and we were more privilleged than we ever knew.
The brothers Tavares.... Chubby, Ralph, Pooch,Butch and Tiny. They proved that they were the best group to record More Than a Women besides the Bee Gees.
Un saludo para la mujer de la que estuve locamente enamorado y que nunca volví a ver allá por los 77s INES MUÑOZ FUENTES de Marina Nacional Yo era su vecino
Both versions are good but I personally love this best. I like more soul and I love the lead (Butch's ) voice so much. The sing it with so much meaning I get all silly when I listen to them. This is what music used to be.
@BBQFanNo1 That is so very true. I actually love them both and I guarantee which ever comes on, something will be evoked in me. I just love Butche's voice on all the songs by the Tavares. Madame Butterfly really gets me!
My dad Harvey loved this group so much when I was a little girl he worked 12 hours a day and on the weekend he will lay on the shag rug with me under is arm and listen to the Tavares all day and I mean all day .He would play there songs over and over I thought he was crazy but after a month he had me hooked to.I would save my money and buy they album none of my friends would come and listen because they said that I played it to much but I did not care.44 and still love them.
they are both really good, each has different vibe to it, this is more upbeat and motownish while Bee Gees is more romantic and sincere , since Barry wrote it though the song is different meant to be sung in his style
This brings such fun memories ... sneaking into the cinema to watch Sat. night fever many times at aged 15 .. so in love with John Travolta then haha .. love this song!
I like this version better because Tavares sang it with more range and soul and it isn't in all falsetto like in the Beegees version. I also like the instrumental part because this is the more danceable version.
I love the BeeGees but this is another firm example of taking a popular song and making it your own and watching it turn out better than the original. Not many have that sort of luck and these guys are one of the few!
@topcatroar61oliosc Yes, this is one of a few examples, out of a million cover versions, that were better than the original. Amazing cover version, much respect to The Tavares
I know that your mother Shu was so proud of you guys. Her sons turned out to be so amazing and to share their love for music with the world. For me you guys touched my heat when I hear your music and your not bad to look at nether. May people still will be listing to Tavares long after they are gone. I love you guys and keep giving us your heart and we as your fans will keep listening.
@IYAMNI actually its not the real one... bee gees and tavares recorded same time for a movie belonging to neither there both good. you cant say its the real version lol,
@Dayfoxx7000 haha.Fair enough, but I think you're taking me a bit seriously. It was a statement of preference, entirely hyperbolic and intentionally teasing. I like the Brothers Gibb even before the disco years, but on this particular cut I think they were one upped. Let me amend to say when put side by side, this 'sounds' like the real version. ;-)
haha! for me it's funny know that the name of this band is my second surname! really, i'm Rocio Salazar Tavares, LOL!

Tavares were oustanding, the disco beats in the late seventies and early eighties was so electricfying and with Tavares they were no exception.
Tavares so dynamic and they brought classical disco beats.
Tavares are so classically electirfying.
