y does the boeing 747 always make weird noise in the airconditioning or fan when it takes of or land like every 4 second? feels like an old man struggling for its breath.
This A380 is going to beat the hell out of Boeing 747 and rest of its aircraft, good work France and Great Britain. Obama should throw the 747 Air Force One in the garbage or give it to a homeless person on the road as free home to live in. He should get the A380 with Rolls Royce engines, and travel the world in class.
No kidding, The 747 is an older model with well proven flight history. It is an excellent plane. Of course it will have a broader customer basis. The A380 is for a different market segment. Comparing these two is nonsense.
What the Fuck... He says that it's not as long as the 747, when Technically speaking, it's 3m longer than the 747-400. hahaha lol, American Trash as per usual
What the heck? Who cares what's better? The Boeing 747 has always been and still is an awesome aircraft ... and the Airbus A380 is definitely bigger and more modern inside, but hasn't proved it's longevity like the Jumbo yet.
Cken007 why should Airbus go out of business? It's been around for eons too. The Concorde only went bust because it's market niche was too small ... it was sound otherwise ... the Paris crash was caused by debris on the runway, remember, not a mechanical fault.
MrEwemek you are doomed and need a brain. The technology is the same. What is different?? The intruments, flight director, barometers and everything are standard on every aircraft. The only thing that has changed is the size and interior, no equipment changed. All technology are standard on each aircraft.
Actually, having 2 levels but shorter to a 747 is a great accomplishment. It shows how Europeans and French conception branch of EADS worked hard.
Boeing took a hit leaving the market place to Airbus. An A380 ordered is 2 or 3 less 747 ordered. But still Airbus isn't making money out of it at the moment, with only 200 sold, they need 200 more to start earning dolars. Add that making planes in euros and solding it in dollars, is not a great deal at the moment !

I'm flying to singapore on one of these bad boys tomorrow morning! I can't wait! I am certain that the trip will be much better than on a 747, I mean the 747s ancient now. First flown in 1969. This plane is state of the art technology.

It is most likely that you flew onboard a 747-400 which made it's first flight in 1988 and what the 747 is capable of is still amazing! Besides don't forget that when the 747 rolled out it was about 3,5 times bigger than everything existing now with the Airbus A380, she only is about a half time bigger than the largest civil airplane. The 747 was much more of an achievment to me!
Hey I'm British but I gotta admit..I still prefer the 747. It's gonna take up to my first flight in an A380 to change my mind. I judge good aircraft on my own personal experience. The problem with it is this. A380 is largest passenger in world after Boeing 747. B747 was largest in world since 1970 to between 2005 to 2007. Both A380 and B747 are awesome cool. A380 went service in now.
I Don't know for sure if Pearson Int'l added a gates area, but I had just heard rumors that Pier F where it looks like a "Hammerhead" somewhere there might be able to park it, but like I said Im not certain...
nice airplane but the ceos who they could on have their own private jets big jets.
my problem is my stupid little place, a 747 can land there but biggest user is a Canadian rj so I guess we shall extend the runway and build an upper deck skyway to handle a plane that will never arrive here. Oh,well, newer taxes were needed anyway lol:)
Airbus has gone though five CEOs as multiple delays in the A380 program resulted in massive write-offs and a restructuring plan that foresees 10,000 job cuts over four years — not to mention billions of dollars in lost profit.
And what exactly is the deal with you posting the same thing five times? Nobody ever denied Airbus screwed up in the production of the A380, but that doesn't take anything away from the plane itself, which performs as advertised, or even better. And last time I checked, Boeing wasn't doing all too well on the 787 either...
Airbus originally projected it would break even on the A380 with its 270th delivery of the jet, but that break-even number has ballooned to 420 following the model's costly delay problems. AP says Airbus currently "has logged 189 orders or firm commitments for the plane."

Vancouver is closer to Australia I think is what you mean, but I agree...if she had of flown into Toronto, there'd probably be A LOT more viewers and media. I believe Pearson Airport has even built a special gates area to handle the plane while parked at the new Terminal 1
Heute 15.Oktober 2007 liefert Airbus den ersten A380 an den Startkunden Singapore Airlines aus. Ende Oktober soll das weltgrößte Passagierflugzeug in den Dienst gehen. :-)
Wonderful! Let's see that PERFECT plane, a real beauty in service! :-)

As far as Lufthansa is concerned: don't know if you've taken a look at their fleet and fleet plans, but they've bought pretty much EVERYthing Airbus has ever developed. The only Boeings left in their fleet are 737-300 and 737-500s (soon to be replaced with AIRBUS A319/320/321s) and 747-400s (to be replaced with a mic of 747-8 and AIRBUS A380). As far as the orders indicating LH is loyal to Boeing: they have 20 Boeings on order, and 87 Airbuses. Those numbers seem pretty clear to me...

LOL. If you believe that the likes of AA and DL beat airlines like Qantas, Emirates and BA in the 'leading airlines' department, you'll believe anything. The only thing they 'beat' them in is size, and that's simply because of their larger home market. When it comes to profitability, service, and growth, they're nowhere near the others I've mentioned.
No A380s have been delivered yet. Only time will tell if this aircraft will be an economic success. Boeing is betting it will not be. I hope so too. Aircraft Made in USA is the BEST in the world, from commercial to military.
First A380 will be delivered to Singapore Airlines next week.
And you're stupid if you rely on Boeing advice and things said about "787 is better than the 380". This is not the same market (and even the A350 doesn't target the same market as thge 787).
When I see how full the airplanes are theses times, I can only say myself it's a good idea to transport more people at a time (not to mention the fact it transports more people and cost less than a 747)
its abeast...my dad fits the beams a hydrolics on the 380's...Dreamliner suckz aswell...It doesnt make sense because firstly...why buy say 3 dreamliners wen u cud have one 380...and ud need 3 lots of staff (pilots etc).I think being are avin a paddy an showing up wat is a gd country (UK AN USA ROCK 4 LIFE)

‍This video gives a distorted view of Vancouver, as in November 2006, the weather was extremely strange for Vancouver standards, with the below freezing temperatures + snow + wind. Snow generally does not arrive until January.
Well yeah, I admit its beauty, but this video doesn't really show it. To Americans, it'll appear as a stereotypical Canadian city, where it "seems" to be cold and snowy all year long. I do remember as well, the snow blanketed the city, making it look pure :)
Thank you Europa for another great inovation - as usual - real inovative things allways come from Europa! THIS plane will finally be a bestseller! Boing will find out :-)
what is all the fuss is about with this A380? just another jumbo jet imo. its not flying faster, higher or further than any other passenger plane or breaking new ground with cutting edge technology. when was the last oil tanker have such a rave? Concorde is by far a more impressive plane. it achieve something that deem not possible at its time.
i presicelyy, extremely, and of course, agee with your comment, but concorde is also extremely dangerous due to crashes.only 16 concordes remain and all are out of service.
lol crashes?! Concordes only had ONE crash throughout its service. and it wasn't due to any fault of the aircraft but a blown tire (so partly its the tyre manufacture's fault) pierced the fuel tank. When you add up the mileage all the concordes have done, they r one of the safest planes on earth.
Fireengineer, I have seen more Airbus products fly into Vancouver International with 'missing' pieces, than there are chopsticks in Shanghai. (AME, Air Canada, YVR).
lol i love the fact that one person puts a video about an aircraft landing in vancity on youtube; and people start right away comparing us with the US and crap like that
LONG LIVE EUROPE UNITED!FRANCE GERMANY UK ITALY SPAIN and the 22 others. This wonderful plane is the peace product! And it's just the biginning of the Europe RENAISSANCE!
They may break down more but airbus have on the whole a better safety record.(taking into consideration that boeing account for 80% of airline travel). I hope that for the sake of the european economy, that the A380 is a success.
The Dreamliner is just that....a dream. Boeing screwed up when they cancelled the Sonic Cruiser and delayed delivery of a competitive plane. At least Boeing still has war jets, subsidized by US tax dollars.
I think we have a case of national pride going on here... of course you are going to like boeings they are built in america. Give airbus a chance man... they're not that bad of an aircraft builder you know!!
The A380 has wingspan of 262Ft (the 747-400 is 211') length 239' (747 is 231') and height 79'(747 is 63').
The A380 fits into the parking bays by a mere 18" but a lot of runways (150') need to be widened as the outer engines will overhang this by 15'.Most orders are for the RR Trent 900 giving around 76000lbs of thrust each, the first 707 engines were around the 10000lbs - truly a plane for the future, can't wait to fly in it!!
The A380 is definitly longer than a B-747. And this is just the "normal-version". The large-version A380-900 will exceed the current version about 9m and offer up to 960 seats. In a comfortable 3-class-version still 666 seats.

A380 is largest passenger in world after Boeing 747. B747 was largest in world since 1970 to between 2005 to 2007. Both A380 and B747 are awesome cool. A380 went service in now.
cuttingwoodnow 4 years ago
The A380 at 238 ft is actually longer than the Boeing 747-400. But its shorter than the Boeing 777-300 which is 242 ft long.

Airbus has gone though five CEOs as multiple delays in the A380 program resulted in massive write-offs and a restructuring plan that foresees 10,000 job cuts over four years — not to mention billions of dollars in lost profit.
dkorda 4 years ago
And what exactly is the deal with you posting the same thing five times? Nobody ever denied Airbus screwed up in the production of the A380, but that doesn't take anything away from the plane itself, which performs as advertised, or even better. And last time I checked, Boeing wasn't doing all too well on the 787 either...
Smoznizjev 4 years ago
Airbus originally projected it would break even on the A380 with its 270th delivery of the jet, but that break-even number has ballooned to 420 following the model's costly delay problems. AP says Airbus currently "has logged 189 orders or firm commitments for the plane."
dkorda 4 years ago
What about the fact the 787 will suffer 2 years delays because of wings not being made on time?

Vancouver is closer to Australia I think is what you mean, but I agree...if she had of flown into Toronto, there'd probably be A LOT more viewers and media. I believe Pearson Airport has even built a special gates area to handle the plane while parked at the new Terminal 1
Chrisrex83 4 years ago
Have they really? I would expect them too since many carriers that will be operating the A380 will fly to Pearson.

Aircraft Made in USA is the BEST in the world, from commercial to military.
adlsp 4 years ago
First A380 will be delivered to Singapore Airlines next week.
And you're stupid if you rely on Boeing advice and things said about "787 is better than the 380". This is not the same market (and even the A350 doesn't target the same market as thge 787).
When I see how full the airplanes are theses times, I can only say myself it's a good idea to transport more people at a time (not to mention the fact it transports more people and cost less than a 747)

‍This video gives a distorted view of Vancouver, as in November 2006, the weather was extremely strange for Vancouver standards, with the below freezing temperatures + snow + wind. Snow generally does not arrive until January.
SharolaidVideos 4 years ago
Actually I thought Vancouver looked beautiful. Remember some of us rarely see snow so it looked great to us..
celticlofts 4 years ago
Well yeah, I admit its beauty, but this video doesn't really show it. To Americans, it'll appear as a stereotypical Canadian city, where it "seems" to be cold and snowy all year long. I do remember as well, the snow blanketed the city, making it look pure :)

what is all the fuss is about with this A380? just another jumbo jet imo. its not flying faster, higher or further than any other passenger plane or breaking new ground with cutting edge technology. when was the last oil tanker have such a rave? Concorde is by far a more impressive plane. it achieve something that deem not possible at its time.
hardbastarde 4 years ago
i presicelyy, extremely, and of course, agee with your comment, but concorde is also extremely dangerous due to crashes.only 16 concordes remain and all are out of service.
killxx2 4 years ago
lol crashes?! Concordes only had ONE crash throughout its service. and it wasn't due to any fault of the aircraft but a blown tire (so partly its the tyre manufacture's fault) pierced the fuel tank. When you add up the mileage all the concordes have done, they r one of the safest planes on earth.
hardbastarde 4 years ago
well sorry,ya dont have to take it so hard

They may break down more but airbus have on the whole a better safety record.(taking into consideration that boeing account for 80% of airline travel). I hope that for the sake of the european economy, that the A380 is a success.

The Dreamliner is just that....a dream. Boeing screwed up when they cancelled the Sonic Cruiser and delayed delivery of a competitive plane. At least Boeing still has war jets, subsidized by US tax dollars.

The A380 has wingspan of 262Ft (the 747-400 is 211') length 239' (747 is 231') and height 79'(747 is 63').
The A380 fits into the parking bays by a mere 18" but a lot of runways (150') need to be widened as the outer engines will overhang this by 15'.Most orders are for the RR Trent 900 giving around 76000lbs of thrust each, the first 707 engines were around the 10000lbs - truly a plane for the future, can't wait to fly in it!!
laerdal 4 years ago
The A380 is definitly longer than a B-747. And this is just the "normal-version". The large-version A380-900 will exceed the current version about 9m and offer up to 960 seats. In a comfortable 3-class-version still 666 seats.
