Funny how many gamers these days will never even remember titles from the C64 like Rainbow Islands or Turrican and many more. An awesome system with a vertible plethora of games......all on Tape lol
Stephen 'SIT' Thomson was an absolute master of the C64. I loved the melancholic atmosphere of this game. All the other ports had Robo in 'hero mode' as the loading screen... The c64 had Robo getting shot to peices by ED209. It may not have been the best 8 bit port, but the music and the graphics were genius.
I still have my original bullnose c64 boxed which my dad got me in i think 1984 when i was 9 years old and can remember playing games like aqua, splat, eddie kids jump challenge, siren city, hunchback 2 and loads more which i still have allmost in mint condition..800+Games as i collected them for years...What memories..Don't know what too do with them now..Ebay i think
Ahh, the memories hearing and seeing this always brings back, I can still remember the day my parents came back with their C64 and the Hollywood Collection compilation and marvelling at this screen and the music as it loaded up.
I'm very much a forward looking person, but i'm still glad I'm old enough to have experienced so much gaming history first hand.
The C64 loading screen is the first thing I knew about loading, in computers and then video games. The 3DO game I played in Epcot Center called "Road Rash", it's also my first time to see a loading screen on a video game; especially a CD-ROM game console. A loading screen can be a pain in the ass to wait; but it makes the game fully functional or something.
It was Barman The Movie, my friend. It had the same music track during the loading. Ocean had 5 versions of "loading music". The first and second are different, than the 3 is the almost same of Robocop, and the 4 and 5 are only modified. Try to look for Ocean Loader 1,2,3 etc. Golden Age, eh?
This is where it all started for me! My friend had a C64 and we played shit loads of games! R-Type, RetroGrade, Chase Hq which of course features the same loading music as Robocop! In fact has anyone seen the movie To Live and Die In L.A.? Music is very similar! So many great memories! Thanks for posting! A++
does anyone know who the author of this song is? i recently downloaded a whole library of SID c64 music which (supposidly) has every commodore tune on it, but theres tens of thousands and i really cant listen to them all....so does anyone know?

Oh man - I remember this tune. How many hours did we sit there waiting for these things to load! Kids don't know they're born now!!

I could not agree more, I actually enjoyed the loading process - except for the stress of whether it would run!!!!

Man there are so many of us who just share the same kind of memories - a real age in itself that many shared.

Aah the memories :) I feel so privileged that I didn't get a PC before I was 10 years old, so I had a couple of years on the fantastic C64 :)
