  • rake won't install.

  • PS: I have an iPod touch 4G

  • I have Spire installed, I copied the link that Dropbox provided me from the CA.pem file, I opened Safari and I copied that link, I got the certificate, I started Siri and a long waiting. After that: 'I'm really sorry about this, but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while.' What should I do? I had to put theIP address of my computer in the proxy host field in Spire settings, or the link that Dropbox provided me? And what files from a 4S do I need if I have Spire?

  • @mihutz98 okay you actually need an iPhone 4S. You can buy one, borrow one from your friend or something of that sort. The server automatically stores what it has to. Then you connect your non-4S devices and it works.

  • guys Starting SiriProxy is NORMAL. That message means that the server has started. Once you re-route your iPhones DNS to your servers IP Address and start Siri you'll get the output. You're not stuck, you just havent connected your 4S to your server.

  • Fix zlib errors:

    rvm package install zlib

    rvm remove 1.9.3

    rvm install 1.9.3

    rvm use 1.9.3 --default

still stuck with the starting the siriproxy

  • do we need an iphone 4s for this ?

cause i dnt have one and is there and alternative for it ?

  • @iTouchGuru321 you need a 4S to store the 4S keys...

  • @TRASCH8 i get errors, PM me if your experienced

  • someone help me, i have a 4s, if you help i will give you free spot on my server, PM me please

  • Will this work for iPhone 4? without the Auth Keys?

  • For anyone getting stuck at "Starting SiriProxy on port 443..", try running bundle install.

  • @Disturbedmaggot555 Whats Bundle Install?

  • @MatthewBrand12 type "bundle install" into the terminal.

  • so whats is all this for, is this to get SIRI working on iphone 4? or just to test siri proxy?

now, i watch the hole video and i was waiting to see the actual iphone 4 getting siri with all the mess this smart guy did, but i didnt happen... :-/

  • is this on a iphone 4s or it works with spire to?

  • Can this be run on a windows PC console?

Sorry for asking if it has been asked before.

  • @123herroman install a VirtualBox and than use Ubuntu ;)

  • @123herroman lmao

    NO.

  • @KebreMobile no thx for tat tip! But it says starting on port 443 and doesnt do anything?

  • @NoobsUnited100 It starts on that port and waits for a "command" from the phone..

  • @TRASCH8 Are you sure you have bridged network, and certificate installed :)

    Also the DNS changed!

  • The same after typing "rake install" i got:

    rake aborted!

cannot load such file -- bundler/gem_tasks

I did all steps again but no success. any idea?

  • @errator I'm getting the same thing :( you solved it?

  • @rdx1312 sadly no :( i tried everything to fix but no success :/

  • @enjikaka thats not hung the servers started youre iPhone 4S has to be connected to the Ubuntu server now

  • dont worry guys i got it working turns out i had to bridge connections between VM and Host

  • when I do "rake install" I get "permission denied - siriproxy-0.3.0.gem" what to do?

  • @rdx1312 sudo?

  • @KebreMobile Thanks for the reply. I tried sudo but it says "rake: command not found". I guess I need to add rake to some profile?

  • @rdx1312 try: sudo apt-get install rake

i am not sure about the command, but it should correct it auto if you hare on 11.10 :)

  • @KebreMobile Thanks. Looks like that command installed rake but still i get permission denied error :(

  • @rdx1312

    Ubuntu 11.10

    Rake installed

    Sudo

  • Ive done everything right but i dont have the ca.pem file?

  • @NoobsUnited100 but you can se the "hidden folder" ?

  • ah quick question do i use the IP of the host computer or the VM because my vm is 10.0.2.15 and my host is 192.168.2.9 please help :S

  • @sa7039 You have to bridge the network with the "host" if that is your regular network interface

  • @KebreMobile yeah i figured that out lol ty :D

  • gets hung on Starting SiriProxy on port 443.. :S

  • @sa7039 yes... the same on my virtualmaschine... but ssh & scp is Working... :/

  • When i typed the first command it said 'Unable to lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock

  • will this work

  • @MsSAL186 Worked for me

  • idont understand this

  • thanks for this detail guide. i had followed all the instruction and able to connect to my SiriProxy. The problem now..seems the dnsmasq is not working, where when i pinged guzzoni.apple.com from my SiriProxy machine, it still ping 17.**** not my SiriProxy machine's IP. Anyone have any idea?

  • Package 'dnsmasq' has no installation candidate :-(

  • @iH4CK3DiPhone try sudo apt-get update first

  • @adamdmasi doesnt work either

  • @nolehdan not sure what's going wrong then, something probably removed the repo dnsmasq is in from your machine

  • rake aborted wtf

  • @RazerFnatic If you open a new terminal windows and type LS, you will probably see a folder namned SiriProxy

    type: cd SiriProxy

and then type Y when they ask to trust it.

Then you can type Rake Install

    Good Luck!

  • @KebreMobile typed ls and saw the siriproxy folder, then typed cd SiriProxy and did not see the trust thing and lastly typed rake install and still the same rake aborted

  • @RazerFnatic You have probably worked in different folders, contact me and i can help you

  • where is the ca.pem file?

  • Can you do a tutorial on a mac!

  • need to know if this will work if the 4S is remote and not connected to the same local ip

n if no plzzzz tell me how to make it work

  • Im stuck on the first step...

When I open my VirtualBox Linux, it says FATAL: no bootable disk found etc etc etc...

    can someone help me??????

  • everything done jus cant find the ca.pem file... lolzzz

  • @Danish319 Yah I can't either, I'm not sure why, it says that it has generated it

  • @Danish319 try cp THEPATHITLISTEDABOVE TESTER.PEM

if you copy in the path from above that was generated after you used the "siriproxy gencerts" command it should work and out put you an easy to find file in Home/SiriProxy

  • @Danish319 cp ~/.siriproxy/ca.pem ~/Desktop will also work :)

  • i rly don't know what he's talking about...is there a simpler method.....

  • Restarting DNS forwarder and DHCP server configuration syntax check [fail]

  • what would you put in spire as the proxy host?

  • works great but how do i add commands?

  • If i gave you my server credentials in a private message, would you install it for me?

  • My virtual machine can't even connect to the internet!!

it says network 1 is already connected

  • can i do this on windows

  • two things...one, can you run it off a diff port? I believe in recycling and i have apache also running on port 443. second, does this system allow a type of way to have it a paying system? it's easy for people to pay, then spread the link, is there a way to prevent that?

  • sudo /etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart * Restarting DNS forwarder and DHCP server configuration syntax check [fail]

  • @Nishux i get the same shit :(

  • Does not work with Spire on iTouch 4! ;( hope the hackers can do something about it.

  • what do I do with the udid? I don't see that mentioned here...

  • do i need to make all the steps again and again when i start the the server??

or i need just to put one line and can start use it???

  • Where can I find the CA.PEM file?

  • You can find it in the ~/.siriproxy folder. It is hidden. to copy it to the desktop:

    cp ~/.siriproxy/ca.pem ~/Desktop

  • @retardgangster THX!

  • As I start typing the :wq! and I press enter, it does nothing...

  • Well, I can tell you all who are having Spire problems (@mr7odo, @theodoreng88) that the address is NOT the IP address. I just tried it on my device (BTW, this is NOT the author of the video.)

  • does it work with Spire on iPod Touch 4G?

  • please help

i did everything and it worked fine but i just don't know what to type in the proxy host in spire please help me as fast as possible please

  • what should the proxy host in Spire be? the IP address of my Ubuntu?

  • where we set the IPHone 4S AuthKey? we don't need it anymore?

  • Now what we need is this to be all ported to actually run on the iPhone. so it hosts its own proxy. That would be fantastic.

  • I installed Spire today and am planning on using my ubuntu machine as a siri proxy server. In the Spire settings pane it asks for the server address. How would I find this?

  • @pianogamer5 they havnt made any

  • It's called a Vanilla Ubuntu. :P

  • @ritvik1999 no, but only real OS's (ones that include shells)

    :D

  • how can you do this in windows

i did this with ubuntu...but when i shut it down it didnt work...then i tried it in ubuntu in a virtual machine..but that didnt work

    HELP!!!

  • I love how you teach the public how to use your SiriProxy. Not many coders do this kind of thing.

  • Got it working perfectly on my iMac. I used Parallels to create an Ubuntu virtual machine. Nice man!

  • How can we use SiriProxy outside of a WiFi network?

  • Comment removed

  • First of all you should not be doing this if you dont know half of the stuff he is talking about.

To install the certificate on your phone just go to your home folder press ctrl+h and you should see hidden folder called ".siriproxy". In it you will find your certificate "ca.pem" which you can e-mail to yourself and open it on your iphone to install it. To get this to work make sure that on your ohpone wifi settings you have your DNS set as the IP address of your computer.

  • @vshubh123 it is and siri still doesnt show up

  • All done...but: Sorry, i'm having trouble connecting to the network

  • rake aborted!

cannot load such file -- bundler/gem_tasks

what do i do?? cant get out of that problem

  • my certificate is appearing anywhere put on terminal says its installed properly what should i do?

  • @frickboy1231 basically when your certificate appears click off and download siri to terminal and then change progam 2 around

  • Got it working, what after? How can I make new commands? BTW: Very nice programming and excellent tutorial, I'm very thankful.

  • hey, I'm using Ubuntu 11.10, got all the updates, and I've got everything up and running, but I can't find the file, that I shall email to my iphone. Can someone please help me ?? :)

  • @Bjarturdt having a similar problem...i found it, but I don't know how to get it out of the vmware environment (I'm using the server version of ubuntu; no GUI).

  • @Bjarturdt in terminal, type "cd ~/.siriproxy" with out the quotes. Then type "nautilus ." with out the quotes. Make sure there is a space between the s and the period. Then just find the file, and email it! Hope this helps!

  • this is so stupid when i get to the sudo vi /etc/dnsmasq.conf part i type in the addresses i need to then when i hit enter it dosnt do anything im pissed iv try it like 20 times still the same help!

  • @LiveRelentless97 Note the exact keystrokes he has in his guide. It's not just entering them and hitting enter

  • @plamoni or @anyone I am running Ubuntu VM (VMWare) on Win7 and have completed all steps up to starting the server, but I'm not sure how to get the ca.pem from the Ubuntu environment onto my dropbox or to email. Can someone help with that?

(Yes, I realize this is probably a stupid question)

  • @jarednl3 just go to the file location and attach it to an email as an attachment :)

  • @pavan758 but the file location is in the VM; I don't have access to the files outside of the environment and I can't figure out how to send the file outside. Once it's on my regular desktop, I'll have no problem. I guess the problem is I can't get VMWare Tools to install in the ubuntu enviro.

  • I updated my openssl to 1.0.0 e, but when I typed openssl version command, it still showed 0.9.8 version. Any hits? thanks a lot!

  • Will this work on a Siri GUI ??

  • I am so confused right now!!! How do I get the whole siriproxy files and get ready to install stuff?

  • Comment removed

  • I did everything down to the last keystroke and then started SiriProxy, it wont go past: Starting Siri Proxy on port 443.... and it wont go anywhere else. The "test siri proxy" command still comes up with "I dont know waht you mean by "Test Siri Proxy" i copy+pasted everything into terminal! PLEASE HELP!

  • @nathreed please check if you can ping guzzoni.apple.com after you setup dnsmasq . That is the only "rate-limiting" step .

  • @pavan758 just to clarify: should i ping guzzoni.apple.com from the iPhone or the computer?

  • @nathreed after you setup the dnsmasq .. you need to set the dns on your iphone or any computer to the ip of your server. Once you set it up and ping guzzoni.apple.com you should get a reply from the server (192.168.1.x) instead of 17.x.x.x address :) Then you are all set.

  • @pavan758 I dont. In windows command prompt, i just keep getting "request timed out"

  • @pavan758 thanks man. you are awesome

  • @pavan758 I'm having the exact same problem. Can you please let me know what are the network settings that you have used for the Ubuntu virtual machine in Virtual box?

I may have screwed it up there.

    thanks in advance

  • @nathreed same problem :(

  • @nathreed me too

  • @nathreed go on iphone and blue arrow next to ur wifi and put dns your comp ip

  • @nathreed maybe because the command was a custom command made by CHPWN... try other commands, if it's work, so all is ok ;)

  • @nathreed YOU HAVE TO SAY THAT INTO THE PHONE DUMBASS

  • Thanks, i was able to get it (siriproxy) up between that page and this video. If you could recommend any other resources for plugins or documentation on formats to write them i would be much appreciative.

  • Why cannot i start Siri proxy in pot 1024? It always starts up in 434.
