My professor here at UT Martin actually said that any Emily Dickinson poem can be put to the tune of Gilligan's Island. I immediately thought of a few poems and just cracked up so much.
You actually sound rather like Mo Tucker of the Velvet Underground singing After Hours - a song which always brings tears to my eyes for both the right and wrong reasons.
And you are right - it does work for almost any Emily Dickinson poem,,,
