Lyrical dance is ballet based, with contemporary and jazz moves. It relates to the music and often tells a story.

@GraceLoves2Dance I tend to agree more with tanchiky. The movements are more lyrical. In both Color Guard and Winter Guard, we use Lyrical movements, and we use every single dance move used in this video. I took Jazz dance classes for 5 years, along with Ballet and Jazz, and I remember that Jazz dancing used both a mix of Ballet and Tap.

@tanchiky Just curious why you think it is not jazz? At the competitions we've attended in several states, this is what the jazz routines look like. Lyrical is typically more fluid and ballet-based and generally has a different song style.

@EllaCanFlyy It's not necessary but encouraged to wear this sort of stuff to competitions. This si the stuff me and my friends wear to competition, for jazz,acro,and if youre doing a lot of turns; you need shorts that are spandexy,short,and tight so that you can do backbends and flips easily. :)
