  • I was a true BLUE 1958-1967 Mr Bluenun The Sgt"s rank in the Household Cavalry is Corporal of Horse. When he said By the right he was refering to them DRESSing on The Right Soldier

  • I was a true BLUE 1958-1967

  • That was shit

  • Can anyone who is a Soldier please help?

I believe the 'Sergeant commanded "By the Right", but, as they short-step marched into the building, they actually took the first step with their left foot. Is this not correct?

Take care and thanks in anticipation of your reply.

    mrbluenun

  • @mrbluenun The Sgt's Rank is Corporal of Horse ,and the order means to DRESS on the right hand man

  • @mrbluenun It's not Sergeant it's Corporal of horse as every soldier in the blues and royals traditionally had come from a gentlemanly background, and sergeant has ties with servant... and no gentleman can be a servant....................

  • This is called the 4 oclock inspection! An Honour given by Queen Victoria.

  • @1982FMJ Everyone is protected by the army....

  • @1982FMJ It's not the armies job to protect fucking babies. They protect everyone from external assault by another nation.

  • @1982FMJ No the armed forces protect all citizens. If you don't accept that you're about as smart as a fucking baby.

  • yeah i no what you are saying but you gotta admit there are ways in which they don't protect citizens. they are there as a deterrent but people are still murdered and assaulted on the streets and the military does not protect people from this and this is an assault form people within there own nation so you gotta admit they have room for improvements.

  • @1982FMJ I'm guessing from your sentimental stupidity you're a woman. EXTERNAL THREATS. I said that. You're now talking about police work, last time it was social services work. Are you going to complain they dont perform operations on sick people next? Because guess what that's not there job either.

If the Germans or French invade, then the army don't do anything then you can complain.

  • @1982FMJ Lol, what the fuck are you talking about?

    1. Terrorism attacks are the most likely attacks at the moment not "areial". The Army is in Ahfgahnistan right now trying to decrease the threat of this for you (maybe no so sucessfully, but theyre trying).

    2. Exactly you never know who is your friend, thats why you need an army, and since Britain hasn't been sucessfully invaded in nearly 1000 years, I'd say theyre doing a good job.

    3. Chances or WW3 are low due to nukes and globilizastion

  • the real threat from terroism in the uk comes from the terrorists who are within the uk.

  • @00JakeR00

I agree with 1982FMJ - he's probably refering to those that carried out the London Bombings and all the hate clerics living right here in the UK. I don't like the combat role of the Calvary but at the same time I admire the ceremonial role.- It's traditional and so British. This war in Afghanistan has claimed too many lives (and limbs)

  • @00JakeR00 I know absolutely nothing about the security for the royal family and the various locations that are guarded by the several guard units. If someone, God forbid, should mount an armed assault on any of the locations you would surely be concerned that it could be repelled. Do the guards carry live ammunition, or other defensive weaopns or are they just ceremonial.

  • @bgrobin66 All regiments related to the 'Royal Guard' regiments, i.e. Coldstream, Household Cavalry, etc are far more 'selective' than any other regiments within the army bar the AAC & Para's. Their greatest defensive weapon therefore is their extremely high standard of physical training, mental fortitude and advanced CQC training. Though i believe the guards you see are 'mostly' for show (though still lethal), they are backed up by fully armed guards you do not see... plus a sword still kills.

  • im gonna join these great lads next year wen im 17 long time to go yet 1year and under 2months

  • On one occasion I was on guard here. In the mounted sentries box - and a coach load of Japanese tourists stopped in front of me. About 60 Japanese people got off, lined up in a single long line and ALL bowed to be in unison! They then took a load of snaps with their little Nikons and cannon camera's they then all bowed again and got back on thier bus and drove off up to Trafalgar square! How cool is that? I was only 18 and most moved.

  • cane you still climb out of the upstairs window and across the roof to the ladies quaters. Not a lot of people know this.

  • When you're on guard, you're allowed to smile but you're not allowed to talk. But it's rare that you see a guard smile as most take the job seriously. This is an inspection before guard duty, which is allowed to be seen by the public. Also, a lot of people get mixed up between the 2 regiments. The Lifeguards are in red, as you'll probably know, this shows The Blues and Royals which both come under The Household Cavalry.

  • im going into the household cavalary next year when i become 18 or maybe at 17

  • Im joining mate ^^

    See you in there

  • oiyube

you need to inlist when your 17 m8,

sollection is hard , good luck ;-)

  • I never got a telephone call either!!!!

  • You see where the 2 horsemen are sitting under an arch well i used to work just past there and every dinnertime me and a friend used to spend our dinner hour putting notes into their boots with our telephone nos on lol and.... love letters pmsl

    They never blinked an eyelid!!

  • Ah the 4 O Clock inspection this was enforced from Queen Victoria because she came through Horse Guards and the Guard never turned out as she was passing through. She went into the guard room to investigate only to find the whole guard pissed up. Because of this she enforced a daily inspection at 4pm every day for 100 years, 100 years has long passed but it still goes on (O:

I have many great memories of doing Queens Lifeguard

  • only royal cars are allowed to drive through Horseguards and the driver has to show an Ivory pass. I was on the front gate and I heard a loud engine noise behind me and hiss of air brakes, I turned round and to my horror a huge articulated lorry load of bricks was emerging from the arch behind me.

It drove right up to me (didn't seem much point in telling him he couldn't come through!) The driver was a Liverpudlian and said "Which way to Leicester square wack!"
