I've been to consol energy center twice and well it's nice but it too damn expensive. It's expensive since they have to pay for the arena but it won't be like the civic arena. Mellon arena was louder and you felt much closer to the ice then you do if you sit up at consol

if 2012 actually happened and i lived through it first place i would go right there its just so awesome all the talent that was in and out of that building and especially since ice gone to over 20 games there i feel like have a connection with the arena and just the city of pittsburgh

The bright dome roof, the sections layout making it the cosiest arena, the connection to history... I will never stop missing the mellon arena.

Here's to hoping when I'm old and the consol needs replacement they'll make a new Mellon arena with section-layout inspiration from the original.

did anyone else here hear that they may not be tearing down the 'ol mellon? because of its retractable roof some people consider it a historic landmark because it was the first of its kind, so there is a group trying to keep it from going down although if it stays up i don't know what they'll do with it...
