you are allowing a movie (from a book) to tell you how we would act in this situation, you are then making a decision that we should all be extinct. And you say "they" as if you are not part of us. You then condeem us all to death, making you the worst of the killers. "Instead of making a better life, he condeems us all to death."
Ah no just look at the world today there is no end of the world and people are killing each other just like they have always been. I say people deserve to go extinct because its the year 2009 and we are still killing each other and the planet over stupid shit like religious reasons, race, resources like oil etc so just imagine how the survivors would act after a great event like the end of the world I def believe people would be worst than in these movies.
Definetly my favorite McCarthy novel, and yes, I'll see the movie, with fingers crossed in hopes that they captured some fraction of the devastation found therein.

The book is ambiguous as you said as to what caused the cataclysm, but from the various descriptions it seems to imply nuclear war.
The father's wife is present only in a couple flashbacks in the book. The preview seems to make her out to be a leading role in the movie. That would also significantly change the plot.
Yes the book was incredible. I read it in one a half days. I read it ALL day the first day i got it, and finished it up in a few hours the next day. Could not put it down. Incredible.
if you're a Christian then it won't be coming any time soon (like 2012). According to the Bible, only God knows when the end of the world will happen. So if the Mayans knew then it no longer qualifies for an end of the world date... to Christans.

Everyone should read this book. SO GOOOD! Really does tell us about how our society is in desperate need of the basics: love, family, support. This post-apocalypse seems like the only option for us to go back to the basics.
