  • I have a Tele w/ stock Alninco 3s on it that can growl and sound just as good as an expensive Ibanez or Jackson with some EMGs or Blackouts on it. Just gotta tweek ur amp & pedal right. And some thicker strings.

  • The Clash = single coil Tele

  • R.A.T.M = single coil Tele

  • sounds awful. You have beautiful guitar though.

  • Single coils can handle metal a lot better than ppl think. Throw some EMG or seymour Duncan p rails on there n ur Tele with be just as hard as if u had a 60/81 EMG humbucker set up

  • i love the delta lab MD-1 xD i use it for more hard rock.

  • The twang is crazy. You should have gotten a Tele Blacktop... they have humbuckers and can handle distortion better.

  • Ok, from what I hear your settings are like: Treble 10, Bass 2, Middle 0, you just can't get a good tone out of that. To be honest, Fender Frontman 15 can sound better (and that really says something :D)

  • @bushibayushi

hey you know what also says something. the date of the fucking video.

i clearly had only been playing for 6 months and had no idea how to set up an amp.

It sounds amazing now with my 87 MIJ strat sooo if you want to compare you frontman to that then lets do it.

  • @moser8 chill out mate, If you are ashamed of this vid then just delete it, otherwise you gotta face the criticism about the tone here ;)

    I don't have a Fender Frontman, i've got Peavey classic 30 ;)

  • @moser8 Then keep on practicing and after that you upload a video.

  • @moser8 how is it "clear" that you had only been playing for 6 months and couldnt set up an amp? maybe you're just a very mediocre guitarist.

  • @bushibayushi

dude the right settings are everything on 100%

thats only for the real shredders ;-)

  • @bushibayushi That's cold! Especially knowing how the FM15 sounds bc I have one!!!

  • Did you do the artwork on the tele yourself? Looks nice :)

  • tele's have to much twang for metal strats would be better

  • yeahh this is extremely old i might post a new video ive just been super busy

  • too much treble on distortion... but very good guitar, one of my fav. a universal guitar :)

  • wow awesome paintjob

  • what pedal is it? please answer...

  • @sharkpyro93

    Delta Labs Metal Distortion

  • You know, I don't think the tone is really all that bad. The camera is probably making it sound a lot worse than it is.

  • beautiful guitar, bad tone

  • Awsome! What's the name of the song?

  • @Deceptikon121212

theres some killswitch in there Breath Life is what its called

as far as any other songs i havent watched this video since i made it sooo haha im not sure give me a time fram and ill let you knoww

  • I'd like to see more of that design on that guitar. It looks interesting.

  • You can play Metal on a Singlecoil-Telecaster, look at Tom Morello.

But it sounds awful with that kind of Distortion.

The painting is great anyways :)

  • Paul Kariya! Tone sucks.

  • your pedal might sound better if you turned up mids and low end.

  • i'm learning on telcasters** is there any problem with the bridge when changing tuning, like from standard to drop d or drop c?

  • @ 0:25 killswitch engage!!!!!!!

  • I use a creative

  • what pedal do you use?

  • I have the same MIM Tele standard. It is the best guitar ever. I don't know why people like humbuckers. I really have searched and searched, and played diff guitars. This is my favorite. I played the american standard and didn't like it. I am weird I guess. I don't like squiers, I Strats are ok, I dig the 72 and the tex mex and other teles,$6-700 range Highway one etc. But I get the prettiest sounds with a little reverb and the neck pickup on my MIM tele. $500 guitar better than spending $1000

  • yo did you have someone paint the guitar like that or something i cant tell from the video?

  • Next time, play in C standard instead of Drop C maybe and transcribe your usual guitar playing into that tuning, add mids, don't scoop them, the tone's thin to me, and I don't think it's because of the Telecaster pickups.

But, at least that's what I do. If you've got your own thing going, go for it!

  • you know they make Duncan designed humbuckers in a single coil right? i have 1..called a Little 59.

  • Ima steal that guitar on your wall.. Kthx.

  • Do not play metal on this Telecaster. It's not designed for this purpose. He has no humbuckers ...

  • @makarovgosha frankly you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @makarovgosha

isn't that just the point, this video proves that what is being played and how makes all the difference.

on the side note, the tone is nasty, i'll give it that, and some of the bending intonation made me feel seasick but...

  • thats aint a guitar, its piece of art O.O

  • Typical nu-metal ear breaking tone....

    Lots of treble, scooped mids.

  • its actualy drop c# or drop d flat

  • awful sound please check your amp or pedal settings that hurts ^^

  • sick finish

  • What string-gauge do you use?: )

  • very nice guitar

  • who did the artwork?

  • Cool Paul Kariya jersey.

  • lol i admit you played it like a standard E tuning

  • that would be atreyu in the beginning?

  • I keep thinking of getting another tele with HBs or other hotter picl-ups but they sound just fine to me, even better with just the stock single coils....sounds great and the notes are very clear...

  • @stevoe1000 Stratocaster

  • Does 21 fret make any difference compared to 22 frets for metal? I am a rhythm player and ive been wanting to buy a cheap tele and put some humbuckers in it but I dont want to try that till I know weather or not that 1 fret will make any difference.

  • @DarkdeviI725 You could get by as rhythm with 21, and even if you wanted more, you could get a replacement from Warmoth... they have conversion necks I beleive.

  • wow man dit you buy the guitar that way? anyways who is the art from? it's amazing dude

    greets

  • Artwork is awesome. But I agree, the pedal/effect sounds horrific.

  • @fall1nb00n you should here a tele through a metal muff...my goodness :)

  • Nice Jazzmaster in the background man. Is it a custom build?

  • what kind of tele is that, i like the paint :D

  • metal pedals always seem to fuzz/buz like mad :S

  • this is the first time I heard that distortion and I already hate it, but overall nice playing and I love the finish on the guitar

  • awesome paint!!

  • i want your tele.

    the pedal sounds horrid though

  • really cool work on the finish dude.. you made it yourself?

  • cool paint work on the tele.

  • yes.mexican.

  • nice artwork on the guitar man

  • wow. what a terrible tone.

  • goddern son! you killed it! that tone you got out of that tele, i bet it made broads wet. f"in solid. nice work

  • tone..

  • nice!

  • really cool tele :P

  • did you made that design?

  • I bet you cant add more treble...ITS NOISY DUDE.

  • Personally I don't think that the VK's gain is that bad to begin with.

  • thats actually from a metal pedal not from the amp.

  • That is what I did say...

  • Hey I really like the finish that your guitar's got

Can you send me some pictures of it?

I'd like to have it done in mine too!.

    Cheers

  • is it american standard or made in mexico?

  • its mexican

  • disgusting sound...

  • WOAH!!!!!

  • Personally, I love the sound.

  • its a nice tele but i cant stand the sound

  • I can't stand the tone. It has to be that pedal.

  • @Grifff0

    it is the pedal.

im planning on doing one without the pedal

  • how did u make your guitar body art?

  • Is the Schechter PT with humbuckers good for metal?

  • @ChaserHUN

    yes it is

the schecter pt is a metal beast

mor than a warlock or something like that

    trust me ;)

  • is that a custom paintjob or one of those sticker things for tele's?

  • @N30N94

    its custom.

  • Ive played metal since i was teenager but in the last couple of years ive started to write more rock orientated stuff (check out my vids) Over the years Ive used jacksons, esps and most recently a schecter but im looking for a guitar that will give me a more dirty rock sound and less of an aggresive metal one. Tell me brothers is a tele the way to go?

  • them or strats or even a SG or LP i prefer scheceter for metal and either my strat or sg for a dirty crunch the sg has more bass but the strat can go from tones like claptons Layla to stuff more like RATM

  • @thejigsawmurders, dude never play a Tele if you have any doubts about it, they feedback as a bitch, very crispy tone and they never do what you want. Especialy if you are used to ESP's en Jackies. Even though I love my Tele and will never ever buy another type of guitar. But If you want to play hard kind of rock, strat is maybe better or a p90 les paul

  • Teles can do almost anything, however there are several different kinds of tele that are made for different things for example the John5 (Rob Zombie) and Jim Root (Slipknot) are made for metal but do some resarch and find the one you think will do the job for you, also I seem to find effects pedals help alot in finding your sound, so look around, do your reasearch and you will find the one you want, and maybe even get a cheap squier to get the idea

  • @haropro2 The Jim Root model is for all intents and purposes a metal machine disguised as a tele. It has an emg 81 in the bridge and thats exactly the kind of thing I want to move away from. Im not a fan of effects either. In 16 years of playing Ive never really used anything other than overdrive. I just want to change my guitar tone to something less aggressive and I was wondering how the traditional tele "twang" would hold up to some warm overdrive and dirty rock riffs ya know?

  • @thejigsawmurdersyou I know what you mean maybe just try a standard tele, that should do the job, also the amp settings may have something else to do with it

  • That is one awesome paintjob!

You may have overdone the distortion on it though.

  • Hey thank you Audiboy and Moser8 so much and Merry Christmas by the way. Hey, Theres one more question, What would be the best guitar for Metal only in the Fender brand? I dont want a Gibson. :)

  • Nice guitar.. disgusting distortion... i really hate line 6.. anyhow.., your guitar looks awsome :D

  • @AFriendOfAxel

    yeah i wasnt playing a line 6,

    but i was un-educated.

i think im going to make a new

metal/tele video when i get time.

    like christmas day or something.

  • Hey man, Badass tele. Hey Can I ask you something? I have a Jay Turser guitar and it sounds purdy good. But I am aiming for Metal. And I only want a fender brand, Is the tele the way 2 go on Metal?

  • @nickman888 well telecasters arent really known for metal, but they r perrty versatile in my opinion, but its not only the guitar its the pickups, see, because tele's have single coil pickups they may not dish out the sounds of per say a humbucking pick up guitar, but they r still great fotr rock n roll. and with a good combination from your amp, and maybe even a good distortion pedal such as the boss ML-2 metalcore, the telecaster would be nice, my opinion of course, try an ESP also for metal.

  • @nickman888

yeah i pretty much agree with audiboy

but if you want a cheap metal guitar

buy like a Ibanez Rg120 or something.

  • dude please tell me how you got that awesome looking tele

  • @paintHawkk

For my birthday my brother got one

of his tattoo buddies to use felt pens

on it and then i put a clear coat over it.

  • I'm digging the Tele!

  • How did you get those "tatoos" on your tele? It's looks realy cool!

  • thats the worst distortion tone ever. my tele can sound like 8 string djent, it really depends on your setup rig though. boosting gain and scooping mids= wont give you metal.

  • nice telecaster dude

  • If you dont know how to play in drop c, then why bother. you could have played some early 'tallica stuff in standard tuning. i dont think ur doing the tele any justice.

  • Who cares, it's a youtube comment.

  • lol exALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD

  • now we are dying...dying the slowest death...

  • what does that mean?

  • The lyrics to the riff you were jammin at :30 KSE

  • dude sweet shredding youve changed my opinion on teles.keep rockin bro

  • not bad, but back down on the treble a little bit.

  • Your playing is good, but the overtones of the pedal could cause severe nosebleeds. Seriously, get a good valve distortion pedal, please -one that does your guitar justice.

  • can you recommend one?

  • I would recommend a blackstar ht distX or my personal favourite the ht dual. if you crank up the bass the valve should compensate the insane amount of treble quite nicely. Apart from that you can even change the voicing of the pedal to your personal taste, giving it a more american or british distortion sound.

  • Sounds pretty cool! I have a John 5 Telecaster and its a pretty heavy sounding guitar too....so whoever thinks Teles aren't for metal have no clue what they are talking about

  • how much was it mate?

  • I got a steal on my John 5 Telecaster on Ebay! Only $590 and that was with the shipping! Plus the guy who owned it only had it for 3 months,no scratches, chips, etc, had installed Fender locking tuners and swapped out the single coil stock pickup with a Dimarzio Virtual T pickup which is way better. And he also had professionally installed the neck from the John 5 Triple Tele Deluxe which has the six on a side headstock instead of that nasty 12 string guitar headstock too!

  • Right, Teles make excellent metal guitars, especially when equipped with humbuckers. I have two tele style guitars a telecaster custom and a schecter pt deluxe, both humbucker- equipped.and those axes deliver an enormous punch, almost like a les paul, but with a more aggressive bite to the tone

  • omg nice tele

  • thanks mann.

    you play one?

  • no but i wish i had on...im more of a bass kinda guy

  • i like the breath life by kse

    v nice mate

  • not the best guitar for metal :3

  • jim root?

  • Good guitar, bad distortion pedal. (IMO)

  • How did you decorate the body of the guitar? Did it come like that? If you did it yourself, what did you use?

  • well my brother got it done for me for my birthday. Im pretty sure its just sharpies with a clear coat over them.

  • dude drop c's the shit...

  • nice camera dude.

    what guitar is this?

  • thanks man. the camera is a Kodak Z1015 and the guitar is a Mexican Made Telecaster. It was customized for my birthday.

  • I bet it sounds much better with just the Valveking and no distortion pedal.

  • would you like me to make a video like that?

    if so what tuning?

    drop d

    drop c

    or standard?

  • Yes please, just the valveking in standard tuning? Move around between the pickups if you can, so we can hear the differences...

    Thanks mate!

  • alright i made it, its uploading as we speak.

    check it out

  • standard

  • sounds great dude! didn't know that teles can make that sound! ;)

  • thanks, stay tuned for more videos.

  • I'm loving hte guitar, but hte tone is...well...:X

  • dont really know what to say to that,

what can i do to improve, master?

  • well, It's most likely the singles and the youtube compression.

  • you need to learn use your pinky, just some advice ;D

  • yes i do hah

  • thats a beautiful art job!111eleven. How?

    why is this rated one?

  • thanks, what is 111eleven though? haha

  • i think im going to re do this in a better setting. with mroe to play.

  • dude did you do the custom art yourself?

i wanna do something like this when i get my tele next week ^_^

  • Just wondering. How does your tele perform when you say play something jazzy then just going striaght into metal. Does it like get frustrating or is it nice and plays like a dream.

  • thats kind of a general question, but if your saying like, is it a hassle to change the tones and stuff, then no, i mean i tune it and it stays in tune, i can play neck pick up for some jazzy and then if i want, flip on some distortion and go straight to metal. its really that easy. this gutiar is so versatile.

  • Thats exactly what i was looking for thanks so much. I know that i want one now. two weeks of reasearch your the only one to answer my question thanks man

  • no problem, im glad i could help!

    good luck with your guitar!

  • I love Tele's for metal...the instrument is super versatile.

  • yeah they aree. im just getting into metal so ive been playing this and my carvin
