tommy showed me what is the best musical instrument in the world & i'm glad that i can also play this instrument.well not as good as him but at least i can play well.
Stunning! That was a great description. I finally saw Mr. TE live, in person, in concert last night and the 1000 or so people in attendance were all stunned. He is a virtuoso and undeniable genius on the instrument. His energy and amazing talent are awe-inspiring. He can play anything and everything beautifully. He makes you think. Wow. He did about 335 concerts last year and travels the world. When you get the chance, don't hesitate going to see and hear him. You will never forget it.
eric clapton said he was the best guitarist he ever played with ive seen him 3 times and he gets better every time he has played 15 hours a day since he was 4 its just unreal the greateast guitarist ever
@KonkreteXXX obviously you must be a master muso to make a dumbass comment like that. Only another master muso can be that arrogant! Anyone else comes across sounding like a fool. So.....which are you? A master muso or a fool!
@KonkreteXXX that's great, as do I, but Tommy's on a totally differint level to most of us. If you can strut your axe on his level, I bow to your brilliance & look forward to hearing you in concert around the world.
@Chestybro yeah, but you GOTTA admit: IF you would be playing 50 years with dedication to what youre doing, then you should be able to do MAYBE even better him. I mean: 50 YEARS. Thats a lotta time to practice.
@KonkreteXXX I think (my opinion only of course) TE reached his peak maybe 10-20 years years ago The rest has been all fine tuning honing his skills & more practice Seriously though 50 years of dedication to the axe? He's 54 Logic tells me he never committed to his craft till he was in his teens maybe late teens Even so his dedication & commitment must have been intense When you have gun axemen like Mark Knophler Eric Clapton Steve Vai singing his praises you know he's a future legend
@Chestybro Read TE's bio--He started playing when he was a kid and by the time he was in his teens had been touring in a family band for several years. He and his brother hare having a 50th anniversary tour in Oz this January. He really has been working at it for 50 years. He was just a kid when he first heard a Chet Atkins album and taught himself Travis(Atkins) style finger picking.
@AgentZeroForTheWin: I've gotta agree. I've only been following Tommy for about 4 years. There a lot of great guitar players out there - amazing guitar players. But I have never seen anyone *perform* as well as Tommy. And I don't see the speed in other players - sheer speed. He has a metronome in his head and can play 4-5 parts simultaneiously. I doubt there has ever been a guitar performer this good.
couldnt agree more. when i saw him in brisbane earlier this year, he did initiation as the closer (2nd encore too), whole room was in a trance. very genius composition by tommy :)
i completely agree with you. pretty much the only difference between your and my own list is that i have ana vidovic on it as i think she is the absolute best representative for classical guitar.
I have Ana Vidovic in my list of "women I´d like to marry"! ^^
She is outstanding, but there are too many awesome classical guitarists, I couldn´t pick just one and put it in my list because I like most of them. I recommend Carlos Moscardini, from Argentina (where I live). His music is beautiful. best wishes!
Ha! Don't worry mate. I'll have a word with my mate (who is Tommy's webmaster) and try and get him to mention it in a 'more visible' way! Go buy it now!!!! All the best

I got this dvd. AWESOME!! the only downside is that Tommy gets very unlucky with an ultra-detuned guitar in the last Initiation song.
I guess the irony behind this is: Initiation is THE song of Tommy that u need to see Live above all others.

Tommy Emmanuel, Steve Vai, Pat Metheny, Paco de Lucia and Allan Holdsworth are on my guitar podium. They PWN all of us guitar players.
What do they have in common?

It's impressive to hear masters such as Les Paul and Steve Vai talk about Tommy with such reverance. Deservedly so.
