It's not a dead pixel. It's just a bit of grit on the screen. Look at it while it's still booting up, before it transfers to the First Boot wizard. It's larger than a screen pixel anyway. :)
You know, for the price of one of these Pandoras, you can get a low powered netbook with twice the horsepower, and install Linux on that. :D Yay low powered netbooks!
@djdynamite123 I don't feel like being a fan of some crappy operating system while there are more cpu and memory efficient and more useful alternatives exist.
Uhmm, windows XP uses 0 cpu usage at idle, and maybe 200-300mb memory on idle, 7 on the other hand uses about 800mb memory, vista about 1gb. and 2-4% cpu on idle. Eitherway windows 7 is the future, DX11 not a interest for you? ..... If you don't ever play games as in "good" games, you may aswel run damn small linux lol.
Oh. The \n is because when you are programming, \n is supposed to create a new line. Often people accidentally write /n, and this does nothing special, it will just be printed onto the screen with all the other text.
That's a pretty awesome looking Pandora. Will we be able to buy this transparent model?

waht is the os for?
Fedia1997 2 years ago
A special gaming console. Google for "Pandora"! :)
ikemkrueger 2 years ago
@Fedia1997: I will answer your question with another question. How would you use it without an OS?
eyeball226 2 years ago
Nice. But why does it asks twice for username? o.O
0:28 1. full name
0:36 2. short username

@ikemkrueger Because it's the first startup

I wonder why these types of consoles aren't getting as much attention as other consoles?

but then again, they lack gaming controls and handheld design. it all depends on what you want.
hamtotem 2 years ago 4
Yeah but netbooks aren't pocket-sized, and don't go 10 - 12 hours on a single battery charge.
cyborgtroy 2 years ago
That was about as interesting as watching paint dry. :P Too bad you can't install Windows XP on Pandora and use it as a music sever.
shippo72 2 years ago
*sigh*
Some people just don't get it...
TheAtomicCrusher 2 years ago 3
@shippo72 You don't need winblows for a "music sever"

So sorry, I hit thumbs down, I meant to click thumbs up.
I know what you mean, why would you need Windows for serving anything? Linux dominates servers, it's probably harder to serve anything from Windows..
cyborgtroy 2 years ago 2
Nope, that was dust :D

Isn't the Pandora any stronger than 600MHz? I thought it could be up to 1.6GHz just like any netbook :(
How strong will it be then?
Keyaku1 2 years ago
Clockspeed isn't everything, 600 MHz is quite decent for an ARM processor.
The Pandora is using nearly the same setup as the iPhone 3GS.
cyborgtroy 2 years ago 3
blimey it's been pandora forever, could of had more of a teaser showing the full desktop...

Isn't that the name of the company, not the console? Other than that, this looks great! You guys are awesome!

Boob Wizard?
Other than that it looks awesome, would have been nice to see how it loads up xfce or pmenu rather than just having that cliffhanger ending

I take that the boot will be much quicker on next boots after the first one, the skin will be less generic GTK and so? :)
I'd die for one of these.
