Just to clarity to the developer I suggest that the entire film be CGI animated. Movies that have a CGI character put into a realistic setting with actual actors really does not work that well. Just look at how Smurfs, Garfield, and Yogi bombed in the fanbase. They are basically horrid adaptations that raped the fans childhood classics. I really do not want that to happen with Sonic.

While I do really love the fur on Sonic, I'm a bit confused as to how his fur would work. Hedgehogs have quills on their backs, and it's pretty clear that Sonic's quills are those super-duper large things on his back and head. Furthermore, the quills kind of replace the fur on real hedgehogs... in other words, this implies that Sonic has fur ON his quills... A very neat effect, and definitely one that can be held as suspended belief, but it makes my head spin if I think too hard about it. XD

If i'm throwing in my two scents, I don't think the fur adds anything at all. If we're talking about making Sonic more realistic, well what is Sonic supposed to be? A hedgehog. I think it is fair to assume that the blue spikes on Sonic represent a hedgehogs quills. Quills are not furry in the slightest. Sonic also looks nothing like anything from reality, his entire design makes no sense from a realistic stand point, so does adding fur change that? Does it heck.

Still, Sonic's hairline looks a bit weird. If u want him furry u should try extending the fur from his face so it grows inline with his spikes, that way he doesn't have that big hair difference. He'd look a lot better :)

@sonicdude242 - sure. I went to get my brain checked today, and all they saw was a Dreamcast VMU. I think the fur was unneccesary, and that's my only problem with it. Take the fur away, and you have the real Sonic; this looks like the werehog in Sonic Unleashed, even though that's not what the artist meant it to be seen as.

For a live action movie, you have to realize that he needs to have fur, otherwise it would look like Eddie just took the video game version of Sonic and shoved him into a live action setting. It wouldn't look like it belongs in the frame at all. Imagine if in the Scooby Doo live action movies, the Scooby model had no fur. They have to make it a hybrid of real life while keeping the original look to the character.

@sonic3243 you're actually not understanding. I'm simply saying that putting Sonic in a real world setting would not look right if he were rendered exactly the way he is in the video games. In the games, everything including the people are CG, but in this fan film, Sonic will be placed into a world with live action humans, so they have to give a live action look to his model so he'll look like he belongs in this world, otherwise it would look like Space Jam.
