  • It's called 3D not 4D

  • AAAAAHHH Nice. The 120-cell: my favourite polychoron :)

  • sweet it's the death star!!

  • Mindfuck.

  • ming blown

  • This turns me on...

  • cut that muzik out!

Kept thinking somebody wuz sneaking up behind me!

    cool video tho

  • @Nate813plus1

you might be correct about the muzik, i have been wanting to replace it. mostly because of the ads that it brings with it.

i do have another video of this at HD resolution without music, you might want to check that out.

  • Amazon.com sold me defective 3-D glasses D:

  • chuck noris teseract.....

  • that's some creepy music...

  • 4d, huh? doesnt that mean i should be able to smell it . . .?

  • Fake, look its plastic.

  • @RoboticusMusic yes i did!.. its not fake its called CGI. its not real, it is a computer program that gives a 4D rendition using 2 camera points to render it. 1 cam has a cyan filter and the other has a red filter. it is not plastic, its just rendered white with a simple light rig. you can make these and other CGI animations if you bother to learn how to use Blender. Blender is a free CGI animation program that you can download and build these things yourself. get it and enjoy making your own.

  • @CaptnSC00BA What kind of polymers can produce 4D animated automation? I'm not good with computers.

  • @RoboticusMusic there are none. it is an impossible shape. there are only 3 spacial dimensions + 1 of time in our reality. to have a physical object consisting of 4 spacial dimensions (+1 of time) in our reality is simply not possible. it can only be simulated with a computer. this model can not be replicated in real life because our reality does not have the 4th dimension required for it to even exist. blender is very easy and user friendly with many tutorials on y-tube. its great fun. try.

  • @CaptnSC00BA I'm excited! Where do I sign up?

  • O_O I am your master O_O

  • my brain hurts

  • Yes, But will it blend?

  • no matter how we look at this, we are actually only looking at a 2d object. everything we see is only a 2d projection of our 3d world.

  • @brandeezy108 not with my 3d glasses :D well actually its a gimmick, but it looks 3D

  • imagine you being in that shit, no way to escape...

  • creepy music

  • That's so boring!

  • que locura!!!! muy bien, gracias.

  • FAKE!

  • And then I was bacon

  • uhh, this is NOT minecraft's 3-d anaglyph.

  • mind=blown

  • it sounds creepy (not to be scared but it freaked my bro out)

  • Why is this exactly how my visual 'hallucinations' look when im in entheogenically altered states of consciousness??

  • damn i knew i shouldn't have thrown away my 4D glasses

  • I'm kinda afraid to touch my mouse, I'm worried my cursor might get stuck in the center of this thing....if it has a center....

  • One of Chuck Norris's Brain cells.

  • i think... yup, just came.

  • (cocks gun*)

  • wow amazing !

  • so psychedelic...

  • i have looked to you're video and now i'm brain washed

  • @_@ trippy.

  • what if you made it rotate in 10 D :D

  • diff betweed 3d and 4d?

  • One word... Headache

  • Whoa! My left eye hurts like f*ck now...

    Trippy

  • woah trippy

  • Brain... not accepting....

  • @Aff01000001 Inb4 drain bamage

  • Brilliant!! i was watching and noticed that this is in "real-D"! i got out the old red and cyan glasses and saw something truly incredible! that was really special. all those people saying "now my brain hurts" should watch it with some 3D glasses... they'll well and truly snap a cog!! (i know because it just happened to me!)

  • @CaptnSC00BA

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Although I do say in the video description to wear anaglyph glasses, red over left eye, blue or cyan over right eye, it could maybe be more clear.

  • @lupin1022 It is possible to train the eyes to see it in 3D without 3D-glasses, although I found it difficult to keep the particular focus needed while it rotates.

  • @AkiraBergman

    umm, no

  • @lupin1022 you were right i flipped my 3d glasses around so that the red is over my left eye and the cyan is over my right eye and i see it much better! it blew my mind (in the right way) if it was HD it wud be freaking better!!!

  • @CQAS8

yes, red is always on the left eye

there is an HD version of this available on my channel now, have a look...

  • @lupin1022 hey were do you get these types of glasses? i want some

  • @CaptnSC00BA It doesn't work for me in RealD...

  • @Tassadaritze you need red and cyan glasses (like you get for 3d comic books) not the polarized ones from the movies.

  • @Tassadaritze

it's anaglyph stereo, not RealD stereo which is a different method

  • @CaptnSC00BA Wow, I tried the anaglyph glasses and it really works! It really gives an impressive feeling :O

  • @CaptnSC00BA did you?

  • When the shape seems to line up with itself to become a satisfying simplified shape, is that similar to when a cube is rotated then looked at face on so that it kinda just looks like a square?

  • @Crayzerkade

yes, exactly. except here the shape is in 4D. there is a projection to 3D and then a further projection to a 2D image. the object is a rigid shape smoothly rotating in 4D. the apparent 3D deformation is just the shadow from a higher dimension distorting.

  • @lupin1022 4D doesnt exist failsmurf. 4D means 4 Dimensions, Dimension 1 being length, 2 width, 3 depth. 4 Could be time, but since you cant go back AND forth in it it isnt a dimension, as dimension means as much as di= 2 and mension= movement.

  • @superjel6 I've addressed this in other replies. The 4th dimension here is not a physical dimension. In mathematics, we study objects of arbitrarily high dimension, sometimes even infinite (Hilbert spaces, for example).

  • I just got mind fucked.

  • wow

  • is not special i not confuse i thing its a normal object

  • What is the music? thnx

  • impossible to add a 5th dimention on a video but the 4 d is the movement of the opject through time not another depth 4th dimention is not spacial

  • @EDOM666DEVORE

Don't confuse the four dimensional spacetime in which we live with the abstract 4th spatial dimension that the 120-cell lives in. They are two different things. In mathematics, one often studies objects of arbitrarily high dimension. Sometimes, as in Hilbert spaces, the dimension is infinite.

  • @EDOM666DEVORE Wrong!!!!!

  • @zer0dahero lol i know im just learning about this stuff let me know your theorys and other facts if you want

  • @EDOM666DEVORE Sorry i was so blunt. Me, nor anyone here, is qualified to offer any theories. Having said that, the 4D space time principle you may be thinking of is over 100 years old where the 4th was time in the metric tensors. keep in mind that to a 2D creature, time can be expressed as a 3rd dimension in their metric tensors. However, In the context of this vid, the 4D is a spatial dimension with all the qualities of space/time that a 4D creature experiences. Look up "metric tensors"

  • i hear voices

  • pi, i mean... lol

  • so, it's somewhat like coming up with pie, you just need to add more "sides"... keep adding sides till you get to infinity.... then animate it for us :D

  • @Neatod me 2 lol but nothing happened

  • my eyes.....just orgasmed

  • :36-:37 looks awesome

  • you say that we only have 3 spatial dimensions but these projection exercises are actually good for something: if we ever see a 3d object acting like one of those we'll know it's a shadow of something in a higher dimension and that we are just some hyperflatlanders lol

  • 4d indeed, I can see obvious shifts in the space and it is mind bogling and full of win. I could comprehend the cubic but I can't seem to conquer your 120 cell.

  • This is crazy

i can hardly get my head around the cube, let alone this ;)

    hehehe

  • soooooo, what is it? do i shoot it?

  • your head asplode

  • I'm scratching my head right now... are you talking to yourself WhatIsGod?

  • This is what i was considering.

The object to me looks like the visualization of a electron ( which in my opinion acts like a 5d object should. no absolute location or absolute time)

  • . this is also what 5d objects visualized in 4d tends to look like. I was only throwing out the idea this this may be something interesting to consider.

On a side note when CERN comes up empty handed with no graviton the multivers is going out the window anyway. and everyone will have to look back at the sun and scratch there heads and say collectively what makes it run anyway and why are the sun spots so cold?

  • Damn it, why are all videos here in red/blue? I only have red/green, I wish there were more videos for them :(

  • :37 everything aligns cool

  • this is da shix its youtube drugs o.o

  • Hyperdodecahedron It's also called, i remember that better than Hecatonicosachoron :)

  • we need glasses to see three dimensions. you only ever see two dimension. you feel three.

  • actually, we live in a 3d world. everything we see is 3d.

  • Stereograms work rather well. Looking at 4d objects in a stereogram is fascinating. It's as close as we can get. You can draw a 3d object in 2d, and a 4d object in 3d.

  • we see three because we have two eyes that give us two different views of an object, giving us not only length and width but also DEPTH. its called "stereoscopic vision"

  • @biohazardousbacon don't forget that the two fields of views overlap each other, without that we would not be able to perceive depth.

  • thats trippy even w/o the 3d glasses

  • Hecatonicosachoron it's called

  • It is quite interesting, I will try one day

  • Um............. have you considered that this is probably remarkably smiler to what an electron cloud looks like, how it acts, and that the math and concepts behind both are similar?

  • No. An electron cloud doesn't really look like anything, since it's well below the resolution of what can be seen by light. The 120-cell doesn't "act" either, it's just a rigid geometric structure. Also, the math and concepts behind the 120-cell and electron clouds (i.e., quantum mechanics) are completely different.

  • @lupin1022 How do you know if it does not ''act'' when the math for it shape was first introduced to Western Science they doubted it even existed as a real shape in nature....What is with the Euro-centric mind, that it states what it currently know as absolute...it is all theory and speculation and just cause the human mind at the moment can not communicate the idea so the listener can comprehend does not make it false just non-communicable

  • wauw! that's nice..

what is the name of the plugin?

  • If this had been a 3D Cube, for example (tubed structure) If it's directly in front of you, all you see is the two vertical and horizontal lines, if you're in the 2nd dimension trying to view it. So, when that same 3D cube shifts, it looks like more, unseeing lines are popping out of the cube from nothing.

    Kinda the same effect here..

  • This is one of those things which scientists look at and go "oooooo.. wow." Then again, this is also one of those things which drunk people look at and go "oooooo.. wow." Therefore, drunk people are actually scientists and vice versa.

  • indeed XD but i like this Hecatonicosachoron!

  • i want to see it spinning verry fast and destroying a whole city!

  • you said it.

  • ahhh, my 8 dimensional neurons!

  • u suck

  • lrwerewolf - Thank you for the most amusing thing I've seen so far this month. It's nice to have backup for my "most people are so stupid they ought to be shot" theory =)

  • time doesn't exist.

  • possibly the dumbest comment ever? i think so..

  • the best one seen so far...it looks really good on cardboard glases!

  • Comment removed

  • so awesome!!

  • omg!!!! this is awesome!!!!!!!! its like there is a ball made up of different lines of light!!! right in front of the picture!

  • The 120-cell is a 4-D geometric figure (4-polytope) composed of 120 dodecahedrons, which in turn is a 3-D figure composed of 12 pentagons. The 120-cell is the 4-D analogue of the dodecahedron in the same way that the tesseract (4-cube) is the 4-D analogue of the cube

  • i almost got high

  • Mathematics at its absolute finest. Bridging the gap between art and science.

  • Agreed. I watched this with a pair of professional red/(cyan-blue hybrid) anaglyph glasses(Anaglyph Pro-X) and it was stunning.

  • worked with 3d glasses but don't understand the 4d part of this movie.

  • The general premise is that even though you cannot visualize four spacial dimensions, by rotating the 4D object through 3D projections over time, you can attempt to present the larger 4D structure.

Very few people can mentally make the conversion though, not many people can visualize a 4D object (and some psychologists would say it impossible).

  • 4D is inside the screen

  • wow. i need to get some 3d glasses.

  • Trust me, it'll only give you a headache. I just tried it.

  • no...it wont......maybe ur 3d glasses dont work!

  • I viewed this with a pair of Anaglyph Pro-X glasses and it was beautiful.

If you're going to get serious about anaglyph viewing, do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of hard-lens/hard-frame glasses. They don't cost all that much ($20, shipping incl. most places), so it's well worth it. I like the Pro-X because the right eye is neither quite cyan nor blue, it's a carefully selected hybrid.

  • I'm stupid whats the differnce inbetween 4d and 5d and 3d?

  • 3D= depth

    4D= time

5D= is another possible reality caused by choice or chance

  • Different people percieve dimentions in different ways. 4D could mean time, or annoyingly advertised in some movies as water being sprayed in your face or smellovision or something. Scientists have also found shapes they explain as 4D. Its all very confuzzling.

  • no, we are talking about spacial dimensions here. a 4th spacial dimension (which doesnt exist, but can be calculated and theorized)

  • spatial is the word your looking for. the 4th dimension is time.

  • So if I need four items at the grocery store, bread MUST be the fourth? Or can i put it anywhere on the list?

And what about the other spacial dimensions? Remember that cosmology requires 10 of them, so why do you not declare time to be the 11th?

  • because time has been declared as the fourth dimension by all credited scientists.

  • No, it hasn't. Sources or accept the correction with some dignity.

  • IM innocent until proven guility. You find proof im wrong, since your challenging me.

  • Easy enough. I am a scientist. Mathematically, dimensionality does not require a set order to spacial vs. temporal dimensions.

Relativity theory doesn't care about temporal vs. spacial dimensions, except that one is treated as a negative and one treated as a positive. How you arrange them is order independant - indeed if you change the signs on the dimensions, the math alll still works (kinda like labelling electricity + or -, would still work if you swapped 'em. Purely human driven).

  • Further -- look up burden of proof. The burden rests on the person making the positive claim. You claim that a certain detail exists (ALL scientists agree on something -- that alone is enough to say you're wrong, they don't even agree in all the details of the scientific method, the very core of the field). But no matter -- you failed to provide a single source where even one scientist says that your claim is true, so you have no collaborating evidence.

    You fail at science.

  • Sorry. Most scientsts agree. You've yet to prove to me that the fourth dimension ISNT time, so you have no proof either. The law is more effective than self-virtue, considering that burden of proof won't get you out of a claimed murder, so YOU show ME how the fourth isn't time.

  • Ah, so you change your assertion now. Just a moment ago you said ALL agree.

Burden of proof is the very core of the judicial system, so your inability to understand it is laughable.

Most cosmological theories require 10 or 11 dimensions, of which time is only one. Therefore to assert that time is THE 4th is to prove you have no understanding of the mathematics behind cosmology.

    Go study.

  • Yes thats why i said sorry. If burden of proof is the core of the judicial system, why am i innocent until PROVEN guilty? your inability to understand it is laughable.

Most scientists have declared time as the fourth dimension because the fourth dimension can be declared as a line- the arrow of time.

  • You are innocent until proven guilty because the burden of proof is on the side who claims a crime exists.

You claimed there was an agreement, and failed to provide documentation.

Your continued claim that ANY scientist declared time the 4th without citing a SINGLE source to prove your existential claim, especially when provided counter-evidence, proves you to be a fool, and I don't waste further time with fools.

    Good day to you.

  • I said the fourth was time. You said i was wrong. You are claiming to me i am wrong. Prove to me im wrong.

    Good day to you.

  • I already did. Your inability to realize it only publicly displays your ignorance on the topic.

  • No you didnt. You spurted out random garbage in an attempt to confuse me, you've yet to prove me wrong.

  • I hate when a good theoretical hyperdimensional geometry conversation gets derailed when someone mentions the word time. It's analogous, but for the sake of this conversation, completely misses the point. We are talking about space, space, space, and nothing but space.

  • I hate it when someone like you comes in and says something no one cares about

  • Hello all,

I should look at these comments to my video more often. I didn't think there would be so much discussion!

In Einstein's theory of General Relativity, the universe is a 4D spacetime. This is qualitatively different from the Newtonian view of the universe being 3 dimensions of space plus 1 of time.

The object in this animation lives in a 4 dimensional space, all qualitatively the same.

Mathematicians construct objects in any number of dimensions, even infinite.

    rob...

  • Actually, most cosmological theories require at least ten spacial dimensions.

  • I decided to see just what sort of idiot Kaysuhdeeuh is and moved to private messages.

He proved himself to be talking on a topic he knows absolutely nothing about, as proven by the total lack of understanding he demonstrated.

The conversation can be found here:

    pastebin (dot) com/f70c32062

  • You're a 30 year old college-educated scientist who clearly spent all day explaining to a 14 year old that the 'number' of dimensions refers to how many we observe, rather than a specific order...... congrats. you must have a really tiny dick

  • Oh, a dick insult? Is that the best level of education you've received? How quaint. *pats you on the head* Run along now, come back when you develop some wit.

  • very funny!

  • the insult was there to give you an out so you wouldn't have to address my point. and clearly that was the part my comment that got to you

  • what are you guys bitching about?

  • Your very cool for posting this. I love you.

  • All of these 4D animations on Youtube are pointless. Maybe if they understood Einsteins relativity theory they would stop with these videos. You can not represent the 4D in a visual form such as a "4D Object". Dimensions are not always the way we see. According to Einstein, the 4D is time that is relative to space, creating a river like surface that generates/sustains what we know as gravity.

  • Thanks you. I tried setting these people who generate hype about 4D videos straight on the cube one, but they're quite the hardheads. This is just a trippy 3D animation like all the rest.

  • i hate the way they advertise true 3d videos as 4d.. we have (to date) no ways of messing with the 4th dimension (other then with the relativity theory)

  • exactly true! all of these people claiming to have illustrated a 4th dimension in 3 dimensional space is annoying. They don't seem to get that (to date) if you can see it, then it exists in 3d space, therefore is not 4 dimensional. if you want to get technical with it, this isn't even 3d. it's a planar illustration.

  • glad to see more people agree with me :)

  • @ziaolol We mess with the 4th dimension all the time. Let's say you leave your house traveling at 55 mph, and your mom is standing outside waving goodbye. It's SO miniscule that you will never notice, but time is actually moving faster for you than it is for her. Our astronauts travel in time every time they go to space...but still, at that speed, it's only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a difference. Once you start to get up to say 20% or so of C, do you start to notice it.

  • @kirkula i know that, but we have no real influence over it. We can indeed NOTICE it (if you can call it that), but we can't CONTROL it, not enough to make a video in it (that even sounds wrong).

In a way ofcourse every movie is 4d since it travels through time, but that's not what the idiots that call it 4D mean.

Thanks for the comment though :)

  • That "idiot", as you so eloquently would put it, certainly is NOT talking about the 4th dimension as time, as you have logically deducted. Have you yet to look up just what it is that these "imbeciles" ARE talking about? Read a book :-D Or go to wikipedia, whatever bursts your hypersphere (hint hint)

  • @kirkula

You are talking about 4-dimensional spacetime, which is what our physical universe is. However, the 4th dimension in this animation is another spatial dimension. The thing is rotating in time, which would be the fifth dimension in this case.

The 120-cell sits in 4 dimensional Euclidean space. This is not a physically real space, but a mathematical one and one that can be modelled in a computer.

  • @lupin1022 Yeah I know. Check out my other posts on this video responding to ziaolol to see what I was talking about.

side note: can't really say that "I know". I never studied this level of mathematics, but I get the general idea of what is being said and shown.

  • No claim is made that the 4th dimension illustrated here has anything to do with our physical universe, or with relativity theory. That would be silly. The object illustrated here lives in an abstract 4D world. In mathematics, you often have more than 3 dimensions, 4, 5, 6 or more. Some of the spaces (Hilbert Spaces) used in quantum theory have an infinite number of dimensions.

  • how is this 4d?

  • it technically isnt, it is a projection of a 4th dimensional object onto 3 dimensions... That is why it seems to be changing when in reality it is only rotating.

an easy way to think about it is if a sphere was passed into 2 dimensions, it would first look like a point then expand into a large circle and then back into a point. the 2 dimensional world would have a tough time understanding what it was but us in the 3d world find it easy. The same goes for the 4d into 3d translation.

  • my head hurts just thinking about it.

  • Explain the concept of a ball to someone who's lived their entire life looking at flat, 2D shapes. Even if you shade the circle, it's difficult for them to imagine it.

Now give them a ball and let them play with it. Show them that it's hollow inside as well. Now they will understand what a shaded circle represents without needing to see rotations and complex explanations.

If we had experiencing manipulating (or going through) 4D shapes, these videos would be easier to understand for many.

  • Very nice. I like how it looks in 3D with the glasses on.

  • holy crap thats weird mind illusion

  • what i see is multiple layers of spheres all rotating in the same direction at the same rate. Good spatial viz tho. :)

  • look closer. They're also expanding and contracting through eachother, while still being interconnected as the same object. This is a true 4D 120-cell.

  • total mindfuck

  • wow try this while wearing 3d glasses! trust me it looks proper 3d!

  • whoa! me, too!

  • Mind-Fuck
