@monitorman203 Keep at it, as long as they are responding they will begin to understand, make sure you reward with food... I forgot to do this the first few times he came, and the next few attempts were failures.. so the past week I have been rewarding every time... I even saw my other one coming to my calling in this vid and she is nervous as heck.
good job man, and do you honestly have to have the deep substrate? because i dont see no one on youtube that has the proper depth and there savannahs do just fine.
@yahhtrick1000 My sub is 9" at the back, I will increase to over a foot when they get a foot bigger (they will get a new cage then too), they like to dig... a lot!
You can see all the digging at the back left, there is dunes in the mud.. it is very funny to watch.
You probably can't tell from the vid but there is a lot of soil/coir mixture in there, you don't need it but for enrichment purposes it is recommended.
@LiamAckermann Start slowly, just call them and see how they respond, keep calling until he gets curious enough to check out the cause of the noise, they will learn eventually. It is important that when they make some progress reward them with food.
Watch Bigboy's vids he is the pioneer for this, he replied here.
That is so cool !! I hope this really catches on.If people in the reptile comunity sees this then they might start working more with their lizards and other reptiles. It could keep the younger generation more interested in their reptiles.THANKS for the vid.
@bigboy3293 Haha it's all thanks to you, all the people who said they are wild and can't be trained now have to eat humble pie, and you have proven it is all intelligent lizards, not just monitors!
@whiteyr44 They are still young, mine are older. You should see in about 2 months, and i also keep repeating their name. Doesnt sound that great on video but it keeps their attention. You know i can call mine just once LOL
