Eat some steak. Be a real MAN! Koreans eat noodles that's why they have a small penis. Do you want your penis to be tiny like lil noodles??? Or you want it big and meaty like the AMERICAN WAY??? Eat steak... Go Texas!!! Thumbs up...
There was an article online that taste tested Kimchi brands. Maangchi, another youtuber who teaches korean food was on the panel. They rated a brand called "tobagi" to be the best store bought kimchi. Depending on where you live hmart's online store will ship. Do a google search for "Kimchi Taste Test" it will lead you to a couple of sites that have tested kimchi brands.
I am half Korean and we always have a huge stash of Shin Raymun. Everyone of my kids friends that come to the house have tried them and are now addicted. They can't seem to go back to the american ramen and ask their parents to buy it. I am trying to get them to eat Kimchi but they won't try it. I have never thought to put the Kimchi in the noodles but they might actually eat it this way
Yes, try kimchi in it.. they will like it. Thanks for sharing korean food with your friends. :) I hope my son (he is also a half korean) grows and loves korean food like you. :) thanks
@aeriskitchen halal as in kosher. Its a term Muslims use for something that is meatless or that has nothing that comes from an animal such as gelatin or chicken powder, etc.
@aeriskitchen halal means no pork ,lard and it will have a sign or symbol at the package of the product stating that it's halal if there;s no such symbols or word that means it's not halal. =)
@zzzz755 it's not halal, i wasn't sure, but after i googled it, the broth from shin ramyun is a mixture of lots of spices and beef stock (too spicy to tell) ^^ but you can still make ur own "halal style shin ramyun" using just the noodles and adding gochugaru and halal kimchi into the soup among other toppings.
@aeri halal are certain aspects that act as laws among muslim followers, in food is applied to several things, like no eating pork or animals wo wheren't killed in the name of their god.
@zzzz755 Well obviously the noodles are halal but i am not quite sure about the seasoning. They only seem to be a blend of red chili powder and other spices but i could be wrong.
Wow.. many people answered about this question..thanks for all.. if halal is no pork and no alcohol as others said.. I think.. shin ramyun is okay for it. thanks
it can be my stove.. I measured the time to write down exact recipe.. I don't like over cooked noodles either.. so.. ^^:; anyway.. thanks for comment.
nice...i love putting kimchi in my noodle as well, but the way i do it is a little different. i put the kimchi in near the end after the egg bcoz i want the kimchi flavor to stay with it when i eat it.
also, i think it's bad to break the noodle into half, that way the noodle wont be as long and as good looking.
hi again!! i tried all the Asian in my area, but i couldn't find any korean but when i tried with the once i had and it was well.... not good so i don't know wat 2 do?
I didn't try other country ramen much.. except American ones..but definately.. the flavor and texture for noodles are much different..and the soup base taste far different too.. that's why your wasn't good for kimchi ramen recipe..
I don't know what you mean by normal instant noodle ?? you mean... your country ramen noodle ?? I think..each country ramen taste different.. so.. if you can't get shin ramen.. at least some Korean brand spicy ramen will work for this recipe. or you can try the instant noodle you have and let us know if it works too. :) thanks
I made this tonight for a quick dinner for myself and I must say it is very yummy. Going to be very hard to resist making this all the time. Thanks for the video!
the way you cook instant noodles are exactly the same as i do!! people always ALWAYS told me to cook the noodles first and then discard the water that i used to cook the noodles because they think there are wax on the noodles and by cooking, the hot water eliminates the wax from the surface of the noodles... :S dont really care much about that! :P rock on aeriskitchen! love watching your videos! :P
Oh I happen to have the exact same brand you use !! But I don't have kimchi here D: I think I will bring the noodle back to my parent's home where I have some kimchi ! om nom nom :D
I made shrimp ramen today for my uncle and myself. It turned out really good. i cracked two quill eggs in mine because of my spring alergy. It was sooo spicy, i just loved it. Can't wait to make some kimchi and try this recipe. <3
@sarahtran88 It's very, very common to break the yolk in Korea, but I myself eat about a third of my bowl of ramen with it intact, then break the yolk. =d
My korean friend Hansol told me to try Shin Noodles. I remember the first time I tried, my face was red, I was sweating, my nose was running and I kept coughing.
But it was the most delicious spicy ramyum I've ever had <3
I love the 1950's stove you are using. What do all those buttons do? Do you by chance live in the Midwest (chicago area)? If you don't like the smell of regular kimchi you should stir fry it with a little oil, onions, those pink/white fish cakes, and garlic. I not particularly fond of fresh kimchi but stir fried they smell and taste very good.
lol.. We bought our first house from an old couple when we gor married..they left some kitchen appliance like the stove... and as you said.. it's very old.. ^^ haha.. how did you know I live in PA ?? ^^ thanks
@aeriskitchen I love Shin Ramyun, my Best friend turned me on to that stuff when I was about 13 years old, it was the hottest stuff I ever had. I acted all tough because I didn't want to look like a sissy,I would only add a little bit of the seasoning with A BUNCH of water and act like I added it all, lol now days I don't have much water, and use the whole pack, also, i like to add 2 eegs, some carrot and green onion in there, I never thought of using kimchi, I'm going to try this tomorrow ty :)
cooked, uncooked, overcooked, undercooked, stale or fresh, gimme this specific korean noodle (the packet one) and i can totally eat every bit of it...and definitely cooking this ramen! thank u soo much!! GO GO KOREAN FOODS!!! lol...
btw m not a korean... buh just am a pig wen it cums to korean foods... ;))
i love shin ramyun too. sometimes i make yakisoba with the noodles and put the spice packets in with rice while it's cooking. it goes great with kalbi! XD
Thanks for commenting to valkyrieXX instead of me... I don't like to see you get not that positive reply from him. I didn't know that you had some trouble here until today. I'm sorry and I hope you didn't get hurt by it. It's sad that people attack others.

I think it's depending on person.. some people prefer to eat not chewy noodle..and depending on the stove you have ...the time can be different too.. for this recipe, I measured the time to post... yes.. I like slightly chewy noodle too..but need to be cooked enough too. anyway.. thanks for your opinion :)
I wanted to show one way to cook Korean ramen.. since I added kimchi in it. Have you ever tried that way before ? You might surprise that some people don't know how to cook instand ramen.. so it can be more complex than boiling water. My noodle was not like udon.. I just measured the time when I made this recipe ... so it's either my preference for noodle or my stove.. if you didn't like my instruction for this video. sorry about that.. I hope you will not have any more argument.
I really love kimchi ramyun, and I like it to be really spicy. So I added 1 teaspoon of chili powder and a bit of gochujang. Beef and sesame seed also goes well with this dish.
I've been eating shin ramyun like this for forever, but somehow, I never thought of cooking it with kimchi. It looks absolutely delicious! Though I do like to substitute half of the soup powder with granulated dashi, since I find that the full packet is a bit too spicy and I love the flavor of dashi with the ramen. I think I'll be trying this very soon! Thanks!
in my opinion it is not korean ramyeon with out egg.....I use egg, green onion dashima, perella leaves shitake mushroom and chilli powder ^^ sometimes tteok gook tteok and ham but ALWAYS EGG lol hehehe
this is my favorite food :3

you gotta add the egg when you put in the noodles, and when it starts to loosen up, stir it up abit (don't touch the egg)
and lower the heat at that point to mid.
Then you raise the noodle up and down letting it meet the cold air
you get nice textured ramyun! try it :D

" it's not like you are obligated to cook it over 3 mins. "
you tell me if you are illeterate or mentally retarded...
thank you! come again~

@thepandalala
are you illiterate? I am saying that she's cooking it too long!
the noodles will cook / bloat even when you are eating them so slightly undercooking them is the way to go...
BTW, what the heck is she doing with the egg anyways? why is she torturing it like that?! lol

I made this today for the first time, and it came out exactly like yours! Except I didn't add kimchi, but it tasted good to me! Thanks Aeri! <3

i bought a box(24 packs) of this noodle and i swear that after eating half of those...just the smell of this noodle will make me full.

I actually thought you were going to make it from scratch, but this is good too! Thanks.

5 1/2 minutes is wayyy too long imo. 2 minutes max for slightly chewy noodles that don't dissolve into mush as soon as you put them in your mouth.
yurkler 1 year ago
@yurkler

This comment has received too many negative votes show
good lord... are you teaching how to cook instant ramen? it's like teaching people how to boil water...
besides, you are cooking the noodle too long! you are turning it into udon!
valkyrieXX 1 year ago
@valkyrieXX

Beef and sesame seed also goes well with this dish.
rennyannyan 1 year ago
I've been eating shin ramyun like this for forever, but somehow, I never thought of cooking it with kimchi. It looks absolutely delicious! Though I do like to substitute half of the soup powder with granulated dashi, since I find that the full packet is a bit too spicy and I love the flavor of dashi with the ramen. I think I'll be trying this very soon! Thanks!
