  • The structure of that solo ... it's rising drama and the way he builds that against the chords is genius at work. Who plays solos like that these days? More incredible is the fact it's live and the next night he will re work all this and 'invent' something new again ... the kind of technical prowess he had on the horn seems also to be either misunderstood or lost ... Till Bronner / Tomasz Stanko are players who come to mind who seem to be able to capture something close at times.
