  • A really special dancer. Thank you. The only pity is that your warning against downloads obscures the name credits running in the lower half; so for instance with the different Swan Lake partnerships I stand little chance of reading the names (for which I sometimes need more time in azbuka if it is someone new to me; but here even with pausing I just cannot read it). Would it be possible to blast the warning over the top half only?

  • I don't mean to say that! THAT'S NOT MY COMMENT! IT is my sister's comment!

  • Among other roles, Kolb was great in Legend of Love and he may be the best Shurale ever.

  • Igor Kolb has an ugly face!

  • @ballet205 You should be proud of making a comment that you did. Every time you see an ugly person, you should go to them and tell them what you said about Kolb. If you have any ugly teachers in school, tell that to their face and to any ugly students in your school.

  • @ballet205 If you have an ugly face, I hope that everyone who sees you, goes up to you and says you have an ugly face.

  • @ballet205

He's a Dancer not let him be, he's not on this planet seek for anyone's approval about his looks!

  • @casadirossetti I don't mean to say that. IT is my sister's comment.

  • aww Igor has a special place in my heart just because he's so unconventional for the Kirov and still has those gorgeous long lines. Hahaha the only word I understood was "sarcasm" and that totally explains the second half of that entire interview.

  • Where are the Cinderella clips??

  • @al1936ful My description says Cinderella with Irina Golub, so when you find Kolb with Irina Golub, you have found Cinderella. Sorry, I do not have time to watch the video. Another alternative is to look at the ballets and dancers listed in my description and you can cross each ballet off and then Cinderella is left.

  • @russianballetvideo I found that, but it's "Spectre of the Rose", not "Cinderella".

  • @al1936ful I started looking from the beginning of the video. At 5 minutes 6 seconds, he is in Cinderella. Golub is not in that section, but she must appear later on with him in Cinderella.

  • I appreciate that it is hard for some dancers to put on muscle, but really Igor would look so much better with some more weight on him. He is too skeletal, especially in the face, and it detracts from my enjoyment of his dancing.

  • I third the opinion that Igor is the most interesting MT principal currently. And the "different lines" are more of decorations,eastern-type plastique that works well when placed in ballets like Scheherezade or Spectre, instead of vulgar display of wrong technique going against the classical canons.I suspect because of his quite fragile physique Igorek isn't able to lift Lopatkina or Kondaurova so we won't be seeing him very often in the future ;(

  • @FerocityQueen Not true, since he is Obraztsova's regular partner at Mariinsky, but has yet danced with her in her many outside guest appearances.

  • @FerocityQueen WHY LOPATKINA AND KOUNDAROVA DOESN'T LIFT EACH OTHER INSTEAD TO OBLY THE POOR CRANEMAN TO ALL THAT WORK?WOULDN'T BE A GOOD IDEA?

  • @pediatrapaola HAHAHAHA yess I'd love to see them lift each other in CARMEN :)))

  • Thank you for this! At first I did not really like him, because of that 'different' line he makes sometimes (although he isn't nearly as bad in this as Ruzimatov). I learned to appreciate it, partly by seeing him do a marvellous Siegfried opposite Kondaurova's Odette/Odile.

I really want a full video of this Papillon with Ayupova, it has to be amazing! I don't know if it exists, but if I ever find it I'll be extremely happy!

And a late happy new year! I can't wait for your next video to appear :)

  • @Lidewijke Happy new year to you.

  • @Lidewijke l started liking him very much when some years ago bought one kirov dvd in which he danced spectre, and l realized he was a fantastic spectre.

  • imo igor kolb is at the moment the most particular and interesting among the kirov principal may be is less strong technically than matvienko but personally prefear watching his performances than denis'.surely not a great moment for the kirov males only 3 good imo 2 boring 1 no longer too good.is one my impression that also andrian f is underemployed recently?he is much better that the boracrane duo but dances less.

  • @pediatrapaola Fadeyev is oustanding in every regard. He is a great princely type and good in spectacular roles.

  • @russianballetvideo infact l was surprised he dances less than others recently does he guest somewhere else or is fartyboy disappointed he has a similar name d/t apart?joke apart he is outstanding ,good looking ,with great spectacular technique ,he should dance more ,in all jenuary he is schedulate just to dance ali' once one night ,really surprising .

  • The best Spectre I've seen (live) was Malakhov's.Anyway, our priceless Volodya has no match when it comes to expressing longing, ethereal sadness, subdued passion.Kolb seems to perform in the same emploi, but he's not that intriguing.

    P.S.And yes,Vishneva is beautiful.

  • @FerocityQueen infact is a fantastic narcissus too ,RBV posted it.

  • Great video, thank you! Igor Kolb has an El Greco face, made for suffering! Fabulous to see that sizzling Tereshkina Odile and a tantalising, teasing glimpse of Obraztsova's Juliet! :-)

  • IS POSTED IF FIND WILL SEND ,SURELY BATALOV WOULD BE A POWERFUL SPECTRE.MY FAVOURITE SPECTRE WAS SOLOVIEV ,DANNY'S FAVOURITE SPECTRE WAS PAOLO BORTOLUZZI.

  • @pediatrapaola Soloviev of course, great.

  • @russianballetvideo YES BUT ALSO IF NEVER SAW THIS ROLE IS VERY SUITABLE TO THE MERCURIAL LIGHT STYLE OF PAOLO,DANNY HAS GREAT TASTE DON'T FORGET,

  • @pediatrapaola Without virtuoso, I prefer Legris' ethereal interpretation.

  • @Bnesque IMO ALSO LEGRIS IS A GREAT SPECTRE I HAD HIS PERF AS SPECTRE IN MY COLLETION SINCE LONG TIME.ALWAYS NOTICED THE GREAT LEVEL OF HIS PERFORMANCE,LIKE HIM MORE IN SPECTRE THAN IN AWFUL NUREYEV'S COREOGHRAPHY OF ROMEO AND JULIA OR SWAN OR DON Q PERFORMED IN PARIS OPERA.RUDY WAS ONE IMPORTANT MILESTONE OF MALEDANCING,BUT AS COREOGHRPER WAS A CALAMITY FOR THE WORD IMO

  • @pediatrapaola I have this gut feeling Paris Opera will drop his awfful repatoire quite soon since no one can nail it properly without Legris.

  • He soars in Corsaire. Vishneva looks beautiful in her interview.

  • @mariinskyfan his corsair is out of standard soaring and very particoular, really great.

  • @pediatrapaola There was a Ketinoa video with Kolb and Tkachenko black swan PDD. His variation was very memorable.

  • imo igor is one of the few really interesting dancer in mariinsky nowadays

  • He is a great dancer, thank you for the video.

I love the pas the PDD The Papillon, it would be amazing if you could upload it complete

. I´ve only seen it with Kolpakova and Bereshnoi and it is beautiful. She was so light and delicate. One of my favorites

  • @suzzanuca Yes, Kolpakova's version of The Papillon with Bereznoi is beautiful. Late in her dancing career, but she still retained her radiance and charm. :-)

  • A little on the sidenote, but haven't you all noticed how Lopatkina is always so wide-eyed in interviews,as if she's always surprised.Reminds me of an adorable forest creature.

  • He has been the only one active Mariinsky male principal who could give us some crazy great interpretation or characterization since Ruzimatov was gone.

How I love to see his Spectre again, hopefully with Selina!

  • @Bnesque The ballerina role in Spectre is a nothing role. Any attractive corps girl could do great in this role. You do not even need a soloist for this role. It is not a great role for a ballerina. An attractive corps girl would be much better than an ugly great principal ballerina. Selina, being attractive, would do very well. Ayupova, Kolb's main partner in this role, was attractive and a principal.

  • @russianballetvideo It's not a great dancing role, but I love to see great quality of acting which can embody very romantic, lyrical, dreamy state of a maiden yet with very subtle sensuality. Maybe a mere corps girl would be too raw in this role.

  • @Bnesque I disagree. I do not see anything difficult from an acting standpoint. A raw corps girl would be natural in this dream state of a young woman, so do not choose an old corps girl.

  • @russianballetvideo For me the most moving Spectre girl is very very very old Lillian Gish!

  • @Bnesque I hope you mean her old silent film days and not her TV days when she was old.

  • @russianballetvideo she performed it with patrik dupond is also posted on tube, amd danny told me he saw live the event

  • @pediatrapaola I never was aware that Lilian Gish did that performance.. Baatalov and Lebedev would be amazing.

  • @russianballetvideo Wow, Lebedev would suit my taste!

  • @russianballetvideo Extremely old Gish in Spectre girl reminds me of this fabulous passage of Evelin Waugh "Just the place to burry a crock of gold. I should like to burrry something precious in everywhere I've been happy. And then, when I was old and ugly and miserale,I could come back and dig it up and remember."

  • @Bnesque SHE IS SIMPLY ADORABLE

  • @pediatrapaola Yes.
