  • Fifteen seconds in, it already beats "Morning Bell/Amnesiac."

  • This is immense! My favourite band performed by the best country band in the world! Pretty perfect eh?! :D

  • @drodga Punch Brothers is a country band? Have you even listened to any of their stuff? I think if anything, the closest would be bluegrass.

  • I just saw them perform at my school. The crowd cheered for an encore after they finished their original set, and they came back and played Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box. That made my fucking night.

  • what a beautiful wonderful man that chris is....sigh*

  • this is the Punch Brothers band i believe. Chris moved like Thom LOL!

  • Yeah. Except when this was performed they were known as The How To Grow a Band. Also, Bryan Sutton is filling in for Chris Eldridge.

  • Yes, this is the Punch Brothers. But I believe at the time this video was filmed they would have been Chris Thile and the How to Grow a Band....or The Tensions Mountain Boys. =)

And Chris always moves like that lol

  • Awesome

  • That's awesome.

  • pickles looks like the guy in walk the line

  • This is a great version. Is it recorded officially?

  • thanks and nope :)

  • thile is on fire with that solo!

  • What keeps me from tearing up at this incredible performance is that Thile looks vaguely like the Hamburgler.

    Breathtaking.

  • -blinks- I don't see it -blinks-

  • he looks more like a cross between robert pattinson and jude law- but i see your connection.

  • I agree!!

  • I didn't have high hopes when I opened the page.

I was wrong, this is truly excellent. They capture the manic intensity of the original with flair and originality.

  • wow they really rock it towards the end.

  • the rest of the band can't seem to keep up with him

  • I saw Chris Thile play with David Grier, and they played something like four hours beyond the scheduled performance. People walked out of there stunned. It was amazing.

  • Chris Thile is a fucking maniac!!! Big, big fan here... Radiohead + Nickel Creek = damn good combo.

  • Sorry bud, this aint Nickel creek. Nickel Creek is no longer a band, this is the punch brothers. It's a potentially greater band, they take greater risks and jump musically.

  • fucking good

  • ridiculous it looks but stunning it sounds !

  • Chris Thile is the only man on earth that can cover Radiohead and actually do a good job.

  • I agree. Big fan of Brad Melhdau but i can't get along with his radiohead covers.

  • musical orgasm.

    work that mandolin, bitch!

  • If you enjoyed this I would suggest checking Amazon for the cd: Corporate Love Breakdown: The Bluegrass Tribute To Radiohead. There is no singing but it is really good.

  • Radiohead is the best of the world!

  • This is awesome. I have absolute respect for Nickel Creek . . . .a good song is a good song, regardless of genre.

  • wow awesome cover

regardless it is a totally different genre

    it doesn't loses the feeling

    very cool

  • The passion that Chris Thile plays with is phenomenal. I would find it hard to believe that any musician would not like or at least appreciate this music. love it.

  • This is really awesome.

  • well isnt this the perfect mixture.

    he is a LEGEND.

  • Sings better than Thom Yorke live :D

It's cool and sounds neat, but I didn't really care for it as much as the original. Really loses the Radiohead feel to it, being a played with bluegrass instruments and all.

  • If you like the original you should at least respect that someone in a totally different genre of music would like it and want to cover it in their own style. It says something about how Radiohead are "musicians' musicians," you know?

  • Interesant!

  • oh wow...morning bell on a mandolin amazing

  • Chris looks like the oldest brother on Malcom in the Middle.

  • Impressive!!!!

  • also... noah pickelny. awesome.

  • noam* oops.

  • I love this. I love Radiohead. I love Chris Thile. I love Kid A.

  • ditto.

  • This is fuckid Amazing

  • fuck yah. this is fucking amazing.

  • Thile's masterpiece is "Not All Who Wander Are Lost". If you haven't heard this most escellent release, you're missing one of the great collections of instrumental music of all time.

Edgar Meyer, Stuart duncan, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleack, all appear.

  • + 1

  • finally there is a complete version of this with better sound quality on here, though i still think i like this clip better since the overall performance is better in my opinion

  • the solo at 3min was awesome

  • A very interesting take on Radiohead's work.

  • o *please* record this :0 :0 :0

  • All of Radiohead's albums are unparalleled.

  • Sorry 3rd album, The Bends was the second and is also worth a listen! But can you beat OK Computer? Chris doesn't seem to think so!

  • kid a

  • Kid A I realise stop telling me as it was just a moment of madness where I remembered Morning Bell off Amnesiac in the spur of the moment!

Anyway, I ought to know as I adore Kid A, closely followed by OK Computer and then The Bends though all is pure genius! :D

Stop Whispering! Everything's now in its right place! I'll just Creep back to Britney! lol

  • Awesome !

  • please,were i can found some songs??

  • What the shit? is about all you can say when you hear this and are so bowled over by the amazing talent of Chris Thile and co! It floors me with wonder and my hairs stand up in amazement!

  • very good, but doesnt come close to radiohead's version....5/5

  • O.o What the shit was that? ... A-Fucking-Mazing!!!

  • Can anyone tell me if I can see them in the UK ever or if they're still touring at all?

  • i saw them 4 years ago in Memphis and they did this and a few other Radiohead songs. SOme of the most unique and awesome covers Ive ever heard

  • Huge fan of Chris and his new band. Best live show I've ever seen.

  • Wow, great cover!

  • wow, Nickel Creek did a cover of Radiohead? that's already surprising enough, and it sounds pretty sweet too.

  • its not nickel creek, its the how to grow a band.

  • my bad:P

  • Played this as the encore in Madison last night. They had the most amazing solos for this song I've heard yet. Just absolutely blew my fucking mind. The best thing I've ever experienced in my life, honestly. They're gods amongst men.

  • very nicely put. that's chris for ya.

  • my buddy saw a show where they did (nice dream) .... neatO!

  • The band also does this at the end of their show on Woodsongs. It is well worth the download, it has better video and audio, and I like the solos in that version better too. If the link doesn't work, search for Woodsongs and find show 416 in the archives. Woodsongs is a gold mine!

    webcast. msc. uky. edu/woodsongs-416. wmv

  • He did this as the encore at birmingham... I was almost afraid they weren't going to play it.

  • Love Chris thile he rox

  • Anyone have better audio of this?

  • beautiful

  • Awesome!

  • i really love to see radiohead songs played on a different range of instruments. its great! thanks!

  • brilliant

  • just amazing.. as a huge radiohead fan its rare a radiohead cover doesn't piss me off.. but this left me in awe

  • Whoa... I love Radiohead, and I agree with the other posts, this is an awesome cover, fucking brilliant.

  • wow, this is so ridiculously good!

  • I just gotta agree with everyone! This fuses a US group I adore and my favourite British band of all time since I was 16! possibly not as good as Radiohead but a fantastic cover as many have said!

Radiohead's best songs ever are Paranoid Android and Karma police off their second album, this is off Amnesiac.

Quickly stop what you're doing and search for and buy OK Computer off Ebay! Ypu won't regret it!

  • Actually this is a cover of Morning Bell from Kid A, Amnesiac version is in 4/4 and much slower.

As for Radiohead's best songs, it's all a matter of taste and opinion. Paranoid Android and Karma Police (from their 3rd album, not 2nd) are undoubtedly great songs, but in my mind, Radiohead have recorded quite a few masterpieces in the past 10 years that match and sometimes even exceed the brilliance of Paranoid Android.

  • Having said that, OK Computer is probably the best way to start your journey into the world of Radiohead.

If you don't own it, don't hesitate to buy it - one of the best albums of all time.

This is such an amazing cover of Morning Bell. Absolutely fucking ridiculous!! Goosebumps.

  • ->And there was me thinking I knew it all! lol I'm not proud, I accept and appreciate correction!

  • If Radiohead themeslves decided to all of a sudden switch sounds and convert to a progressive newgrass kind of music, THIS is what they would sound like.

  • this is nice. yeah, see. this is nice.

  • grrrrrrrreat choice for a cover, any radiohead song would be paradise. It's always nice to hear a really nice and well done radiohead cover and nicer still to hear some authentic radiohead, and still even more nice and mind blowing, to be in the presence of radiohead while they perform in front of you! That was AMAZING!!!

  • Incredible. The version at Philly Show was just as good if not better...God I hope they record this!

  • guh, so amazing. I saw him play this at World Cafe Live in Philly - I can only hope and pray that they recorded the show (cause they usually do)

  • Are you fucking kidding me? This is so good I can only assume someone slipped me some acid.

  • wow I've never heard of this guy before but I really like/respect this performance. great song. ridiculous that Radiohead is being done by bluegrass...impressive.

  • why you gotta go and classify, it is definitely not bluegrass anymore. just listen to chris thile flow. he is the jaco, the jimi, of the mandolin. Bluegrass is his roots

  • Jimi is a cliche' comparison . . but jaco just proves that you know your music. I'm still a Victor fan myself, but Jaco can plllllllay a bass. He's in my top 3.

  • well you understand what im saying though, he speaks mandolin better than english. thile is my favorite. as far as bass goes, i prefer CHUCK RAINEY! hells yeah

  • awesome.

  • Brian sutton is smokin that

  • C'est beau...

l'adaptation du passage de fin est une réussite totale.

  • pretty good. i was starting to wonder about the radiohead covers on youtube too....

  • that was excellent - a great cover.. some the finest musicianship and improvisation I've ever seen. Thanks for uploading this :D

  • Sorry - I meant the night I saw him perform this. :-)

  • thank you thank you thank you!!! I was too mezmerized during this to videotape anymore that night. I'll be uploading mine soon!! No one would believe me when I told them about this!

  • i wonder if thom yorke has seen this...

  • somebody should tell him. i lost his email address so someone else will have to this time :)

  • anyone know where i can get an mp3 of this performance - amazing...

  • i couldn't tell you, but let us know if you do find something.

  • I didn't know what to expect, but the arrangement and the energy wowed me!

  • same here.

  • The Tensions Mountain Boys! Well, sort of... we love Bryan Sutton too!

  • yeah, he too was incredible.
