  • Don't listen to what some people say, it does sound better when you switch to 480p unless you have the shittiest sound system ever. Lol.

  • Back when music couldn't be faked through with effects and lip syncing.

  • Thias is SO much better than the AM radio station i first heard this in! Thanks for the upload!

  • Thx for the upload Parallax...finally a person thinks before he posts

  • Holy smoke smoke! the right channel jumps alive with a trombone. WOW

  • I would love for the Proclaimers to cover this song. I feel like their goofy Scottish-ness would work really well

  • @BlueSilverStars I bet they'd do great with this song.

  • Once this song played and finished, I got a strike in bowling today.

  • Wonderful version

  • love the singer's voice

  • This is really great, man. I never even realized there was a horn section in this song before I heard this version.

  • What is it about the Vogues? I knew this song long before the Drew Carey Show came along, and I've loved it since the first time I heard it.

This song puts me in a different world, where the contentions of humankind melt away and life is an eternal malt shop set along a highway next to a river surrounded by dogwood, maple, and spruce, and it's always 84 degrees and mostly sunny.

  • Great band--and this is the best version I've heard.

  • They rocked us ALL with this one for sure.We all wanted to sing it but they did it best!

  • EXCELLANT!!!! The Vogues were one of the best harmonizing groups ever!

  • Can't believe how good the sound is!

  • yeah man! this song is GREAT

  • Thanks for the extra effort Parallaxspectre - I have no idea what you did, but it sounds good!

  • I like how the song sounds on 240p :D

  • Oh, this is good (and I'm a vinyl lover)!

  • Sounds great!

  • Yes True!

  • That`s not even the original version. There`s a chorus dubbed in there with other instruments to simulate stereo which it isn`t. I prefer the 45 hit version anyday.

  • THX DREW CAREY SHOW!

  • The resolution of the video does not effect the quality of the sound - the sound is going to be 128kb/s mp3 no matter what you do.

I did a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound version of this, it'll kill ya. See related videos.

  • @MerrimacVI Play the song in 480p, then shift it down to 240p - it sounds like a ringtone in 240p, I can hear the downgrade CLEARLY.

  • @parallaxspectre It's the same audio file, you can even download it from YT now by itself. The video resolution does not affect the audio.

  • @parallaxspectre

    Wow, it really does.

  • @MerrimacVI This is outstanding sound IMHO -- thanks for posting this

  • @MerrimacVI I listened to yours also and while it is very clear, the vocals don't take the forefront as they should. In my opinion this is in better balance. I'm just a listener, though, not a sound engineer, so what do I know ?!

  • @CattailsandRoses Vocals are strongest in the center channel on 5.1, just like what you would have in a movie, so not surprising they might seem a little muted to you.

  • @MerrimacVI I guess yours would sound better if I had my computer hooked up to surround sound, huh? never mind !!! :). all the best!

  • Thanks so much! The Rhapsody site only has about seven fake-stereo versions.

  • @nnwahler I can send you the file if you wish, it's much better than on YouTube.

  • Nice quality!

  • @ShellshockPrime Thanks Shell, if I knew how to make things 720 it would sound even better.

  • @parallaxspectre Agreed.
