Actually, I apologize, it was a power outside, so the guard should've picked him up on the pull...Tough read though because of great timing by Ray Lewis!!! They couldn't check at the line because the blitz was not shown at the line....Great play
Sure, good tackle. Whatever. But Norv got tons of heat for a horrible play call. Pass the ball if you have an elite QB! Simply another reason Norv will never take the Chargers (or any team for that matter) to the Super Bowl.
haha i forget where i heard this but one guy from this ESPN show was like "u know...the league is only expanding the schedule to 18 games...or however many more games they need to injure ray lewis"
@bootygrams if you arn't as good as Ray lewis you'd be fucked, that was an outside handoff to break off the tackles side. An up the middle run wouldn't include two linemen pulling.
No leading with his helmet, no spearing. just a leveraged "textbook" tackle from a one time state wrestling champ. Next to L.T. (THE REAL ONE), he is the greatest Linebacker of all time.
Many of you may not know this, but Ray Lewis has evolved to the point that he can temporarily slow down time and react with suphuman reflexes like in the The Matrix...
ima Charger fan but when i saw this last year im not gonna lie it was a great play by Ray Lewis nice tackle on sproles he only had the ball for a split second
if the guard that shifted to the right picked up ray, that tackle would of never happened but what do you expect from a bad play called from the chargers and Ray Ray just destroyed Sproles on that one
@Renardlol that wouldn't have happened anyway. it was a trap, so the guard pulled( this is where you can tell the difference between a football fan and a football player). this is whats called experience and being a student of the game. he has undoubtedly seen this formation & studied it a million times in film sessions & scout reports all week, & read this play pre snap perfectly. ppl say that this play was luck, but this is nothing but knowledge & experience
@PMAk24 lol, patrick willis is in his prime right now and ray lewis' career is almost over. i guess you're right, willis will be better when lewis isnt in the league anymore
@gauchebag Patrick Willis is not in his prime yet dawg, he's still young....but imagine when he is, goddamn if he's the best right now imagine when he's in his prime years...
he might learn a few more tricks in the next couple years but his speed and athleticism will decline and he might not even be as good as ray was when he lead his team to a super bowl championship
@gauchebag haha u think he's in his prime.....The man even said it himself, its only the tip of the iceberg for what u seen outta Willis
If this is what u call being in his prime then u gotta do ur homework a lil more, Willis aint gunna retire until he wins a ring....U could just see the hunger in his eyes
Maybe... or maybe the Chargers got lucky Ray Lewis didn't do that 2 times in that game. They ran that play twice and Ray Lewis decided not to shoot the gap the first time (resulting in a Sproles 3 or 4yd gain).
He recognized the play, shot the gap, and made the hit.
@CasanovaPockets this is whats called experience and being a student of the game. the guard didn't miss him, he pulled for the trap block. Ray has undoubtedly seen this formation & studied it a million times in film sessions & scout reports all week, & read this play pre snap perfectly. ppl say that this play was luck, but this is nothing but knowledge & experience.
God damn, Dick Enberg is the best announcer out there. Why can't we hear more of him instead of being stuck with fucksticks like Joe Buck or Dan Dierdork calling the most important games??
sproles looks like he almost fumble da ball....dammmm dat might be da play of da year? shty is sick.....hall of fame play....ray lewis is da real beast
I'm not sure Darren had taken two steps with the ball before he got hit. Amazing. Lewis said he recognized the play and decided to gamble with his guess instead of going with the defensive call obligation.
@dzeicee not really a big time game. it was a week 2 matchup. Rivers threw all over Ray Lewis for 436 yards that day. Ironically, the Ravens missed the playoffs and the Chargers made it that season. So really it meant nothing.
@chicob1974 actually the ravens did make the playoffs that year and STOMPED the patriots scoring an 80 yd touchdown on the first play of the game. If I recall, the Chargers lost to the Jets, the JETS! with MARK SANCHEZ. STFU and GTFO. 436 yards and an L. sucks to suck
ohhhh so this is what soul crushing looks like

OOH I didn't know they ran it twice
CasanovaPockets 2 years ago
Yea haha. Ray said the first time they ran it, he had to decide between rushing the gap or following the line (to the right I think).
He just noticed the formation and made the other move lol. Bad playcalling by the Chargers but a good recognization/play by Ray.
shenghu 2 years ago
@CasanovaPockets yea because number 68 didnt see him so if he did i think sproles would have gotten a first down plus they would have won

@gauchebag sproles outruns him
kay9ine1 1 year ago
@kay9ine1 actually I made a mistake.
GOODEN was waiting for sproles on the edge and Landry was also blitzing from the outside.
it's VERY unlikely sproles gets past both of them.
don't forget this though, in regards to sproles outrunning someone--tavares GOODEN caught adrian peterson FROM BEHIND to save a touchdown last season
