This game... I just love it so much. It is my life. So many people ive met, places ive been, friendships ive made. I miss the old world. Some of the best times ever but I still love the new graphics. especially the water effects
I dont play anymore, but I loved this game to death. Among a ton of other things things also becouse of the world. Not so much the graphics of it, but the world itself. It had a certain charm, it took you in. Little nooks and crannies and vast epic landscapes....
Well... then Cata happened and somehow some of that magic was lost.
It's funny how some people will complain about the graphics in WoW or similar games but have no problem with Minecraft and will even RAGE if you make a negative comment on it's graphics.
You can't please graphic whores, their lost causes. Who wants to play COD or BF3 where all you do is the same thing all day, shoot people. When you look at a game, you need to be looking at variety, WoW is a endless world filled with multiple possibilities, and how you enjoy it depends on how you go about it. You can be a boring person and que in stormwind/org all day, or you can go out into the world and live the adventure. Me and my guildies run through old instances in the world together :]
There are MANY parts of Azeroth that you can legitimately say are AMAZING graphics, because they are the perfection of the art form Blizzard meant the game to have used in the game, but there are also aspects that you dont see by just looking at a still picture - best example of this is: The trees!!! go near them & its just a fucking cardboard cut out, not a solid object, they can easily fix this. Also the shity character models & lack of customization pisses me off (I could do it for them!!!)
World graphics arent bad per se, but what i dislike is that character textures looks horrible, if u zoom just a tad in on ur char u can see that the throat part looks like a triangle, not round at all. So my point is just that i wish they would significantly improve "player" graphics
Okay... Yes the graphics are very good, however; I do believe that the title is called "Are WoW Graphics Bad? (Pre Cataclysm - Old Azeroth)". So why are you showing The Outlands in this video? It's not even a part of Azeroth. I mean, it is called 'The Outlands' and not 'Azeroth' for a reason.
Although the title indicates that this tribute was about the 'old' graphics, it's not about that at all. It's about the emotions you feel over a year after the world was changed. This world that many of us spent so much time getting to know; learning a game many of us still love to play and a game many of us would come back to if it hadn't changed so much.
Games fade away, graphics become outdated, but the memories - even for a mere game - last a long time.
Dated, yes, but the graphics aren't horrible when you take into account they used a modified Warcraft 3 engine (or so I've been told) and that it's been going for roughly 6 years. In reality graphics make up for such a small amount of the game play experience overall, what should be made the emphasis of any game is story and actual game play.
Take FF7 for example- it never looked that great (not including the cut scenes or some of the Summons) but it was engaging enough for that not to matter.

i miss the old worlds, seeing this made me think of the great times i had in the old azeroth, since the new azeroth, my game play has become slightly depressing watching the world burn while i try to collect simple quest resources
Graphics like this aren't good or bad. I think it's somewhere in the middle. A bit cartoonish for me, but I'm sure other people liked that style. I still like the game overall so... I don't worry about the graphics all that much. I do miss old Azeroth though.
I don't see why people complain about the graphics, the game was made was released 2006, it's an MMO and MMO's don't usually have great graphics, and if they were really good, alot of players couldn't play WoW since their computers aren't built for gaming.
I miss WoW so damn much. All my friends and my brother quit the game, then my Guild just started sucking giant fucking balls... So then I pretty much just quit. I miss it so much, just the damn envoirments are awesome!
People who say the graphics are bad are morons. WoW was never meant to be realistic or have detailed graphics. The main focus was on the actual game play. In its own way WoW's graphics were perfect for the game. However people say its too cartoony and unrealistic. But its that same cartoony look to it that let WoW be awesome. If it had realistic and detailed graphics it would have been a lagfest for people with computers not made for video games. It also wouldn't be like Azeroth anymore.
Hey does anybody remember "The Devils Children" from Altar of Storms? They were the top guild in that realm, probably half of the Horde in that realm was in there.
Maybe it's Nostalgia, or maybe I just really like it more....but 99% of the old Azeroth zones are better than the Cataclysm changed zones.....Southshore....you will never be forgotten.....

I think Blizzard wanted this. For us to hate Deathwing for what he did, not just hate him because he didnt drop your loot. Think of what hes done to OUR world. Now go raid him with your pals.
@TheBradtad93 What exactly did deathwing do to your world ? He gave it a better graphic and many new efects + new textures. Birds now fly in the sky, like in real life. Water looks a little better now.
Deathwing is the best thing that could,ve happened to the old azeroth. Anyways I want blizzard to make a wow 2. New graphic engine and gameplay like gw2 then the world would be fine again.

Hello everyone, I'm saving up for a new pc and I've looked at a few websites and I have found one, It's called the Gallant AMD 4100, Does it run WoW on ultra graphics with high fps.

My heart stopped when I saw old Darkshore. When I was new to the game, that place gave me such a headache that I asked some of my guildies for help. Only one came, a new recruit like me who didn't know much about the game. We did one quest together: the Den Mother. We became good friends, and over the years she's now the love of my life. I miss that place, but at least the cave is still there. It holds too many memories.

I played Wow for 3 days total. Trees were terrible, moutains looked like pictures painted by retarded kids. Buildings are all blocky and shitty looking. Look at Skyrim.....If WoW had those graphics then I could play the game. I hate this cartoon shit. I was so made when warcraft 3 came out looking like that. what a disappointment and now they are going to make Diablo 3 look like this? God awful graphics!!!!
I love this video. I left WoW couple months ago, and recently picked up SWTOR, which I love as well, but SWTOR can't compare to WoW's environments. In the five years I played WoW for, each zone had a personal story to me, and many zones [Isle of Quel'Danas topping the list] that I would camp my toon there, and run around just enjoying the graphics while I afk'd and drew or talked to guildies. I miss old WoW....
i miss the freedom questing in old azeroth. now the quests never stops!. was much better before so when the quests run out at 1 zone u go to a zone at same lvl range.
In MoP they will add something so the spawned objects, like the broken boat in the sand or a tree, will blend in with terrain and it will feel like the object is really in ground, not just a spawned object.... @ 0:42 the boat doesn't look real, it's just spawned in ground without changing the ground, like rising the sand a bit etc...
Now when you think about it and wait for a moment you see that WoW isn't a game. it's a work of art. and now i'm feeling kinda sad when i think my past WoW life before i quitted... before my best friend left, Yhtälö if you see this then i have to tell you that you were the best friend ever ♥
wow's graphics are amazing. especially considering how old the game is. the people that work on this game spend hours and hours and have so much pride for there work just for people to complain and shit on them. it just pisses me off so much when people say wow has bad graphics and the game sucks when they never even played it or just have a shitty computer so they cant enjoy the masterpeice and amazing zones.
This tribute nearly made me cry. All those old memories from Vanilla, Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. I will always remember these good times.

This video makes me cry... i had to stop playing the game cause it's too damn good, and i had no limits. the best time was in vanilla when i was a noob starting... i was a noob undead rogue been looking for a few days for a NPC that patrols from Brill to Sepulcher... then my first encounter with the Alliance in Arathi Highlands there was a mage i think doing the quest ive been stalking him in stealth, my heart started beating so hard and i think there i killed him a few times! I was so evil! :)
This just reminds me of the good people i've met and played with... So many have quit. Kinda makes me sad, especially since my guild got broken up by a douche. My realm sucks now...
I no longer play WoW, I quit a month or so ago, before 4.3 hit. Part of me regrets and wants to go back but the other part argues - it's no longer the game you became to love. The Shattering shattered part of my life, I still have amazing memories and I am greatful I had a chance to experience it with loyal friends I've met in game /sob. RiP Sayel of Darkspear EU.

The problem is not the Blizzard, its just and playerbase. BUT PEOPLE, there are alot of expansions ahead... The game can always change the whole way it is made, you know how Blizzard is.
Crendor, you really picked the right places to capture. This is why I kept playing WoW for all these years. They have little things like the eyes in dark trees, and little graves with armor on it as a tribute. They actually thought about the game and the area they were creating. Good job WoW, I still love the graphics.

When they completely destroyed Azeroth, I was genuinely sad. I loved the old Azeroth, 1-60 grind could be annoying, But I loved walking to instances, Experiencing content, And the player base was much more friendly. I loved roaming the world with friends, Doing raids, Actually getting to see all the content. Now you can level 1-10, barely experience anything, And coast on BoA's and pvp gear untill you're 85. It's bullshit and I want a Vanilla server
I miss Old Azeroth myself. I don't really like the "redone" areas so much as I would like to have the originals back. Storywise, I also have a few complaints. Why can't we kill Hogger in Elwynn Forest? WHAT happened to the (now late) King of Ironforge and why are there Dark Irons in the political system? And who the #%$@'s bright idea was it to kill Ol' Blanchy?! Excuse me, got a little emotional there.

@Hibba42 I know what you mean about Ol' Blanchy. When I walked into Westfall for the first time after getting Cata, I actually felt a pang of emotion on seeing the Furlbrows dead. I'd spent quite a while in Westfall during BC working for them. I agree though, we need "retro" WoW servers; one for each expansion pre-Cata. Give the old hands like us a chance to relive the glory days of Azeroth, and give the newer players who have only been around since Cata a chance to see the world as it once was.

Considering the year wow came out and to today I think i can say wow has decent graphics but there is till room for much more improvement. We are stepping twords a new gaming era where graphics does matter . In gameplay how would i describe graphics? Something that keep's you closer to reality rather than to what you might call a game with lot's of pixels...
This is the WoW i'll always remember. My greatest memories come from classic.
It's like watching the old world existing, but nobody is there anymore... all the npcs walk around day after day wondering what happened and where everyone went. Zones that were once alive with activity are now dead. It's like looking at a fallen civilization...you can see everything great that came from it, but you can also see that its empty.

For those of you who really played Vanilla wow to cata, don't forget all the horrible grind, crappy (go get me 10 bear ass/yeti fur) quests, significant class imbalance, useless talents, and spawning raidboss glitches. WoW is still a good game, but it's the players that have caused the game to decline more so than the company.

@toyboytbfb2 the problem with wow at the minute is the lack of challenges outside of raiding, heroics are easy pvp is easy and farming old dungeons for mounts or pets gets boring after a while, but i suppose the majority of players have made it hard for blizzard to make the game challenging because they will unsub if it challenges them which sucks but losing 5 players is better for blizzard as a business than losing fifty.
@toyboytbfb2 I agree with you, it's just that people haven't realized all the good things in expansions and only noticed the bad things. I mean BC had it's ups and downs, Wrath had it's ups and downs, and Cata has it's ups and downs. I enjoy Catclysm, mainly because I compare the pros and cons, such as "This was good, but this needs a bit of work". And Mists of Pandaria is going to be great, it'll have some changes, but for the most part it will kick ass.
@QueenSayel Read a comment somewhere that Blizz should have servers for every expansion so you could decide what part of the content you want to be involved with. It would be a heck of a project, but I wish they'd consider it.

I played Wow for 3 days total. Trees were terrible, moutains looked like pictures painted by retarded kids. Buildings are all blocky and shitty looking. Look at Skyrim.....If WoW had those graphics then I could play the game. I hate this cartoon shit. I was so made when warcraft 3 came out looking like that. what a disappointment and now they are going to make Diablo 3 look like this? God awful graphics!!!!

I love this video. I left WoW couple months ago, and recently picked up SWTOR, which I love as well, but SWTOR can't compare to WoW's environments. In the five years I played WoW for, each zone had a personal story to me, and many zones [Isle of Quel'Danas topping the list] that I would camp my toon there, and run around just enjoying the graphics while I afk'd and drew or talked to guildies. I miss old WoW....

i miss the freedom questing in old azeroth. now the quests never stops!. was much better before so when the quests run out at 1 zone u go to a zone at same lvl range.

In MoP they will add something so the spawned objects, like the broken boat in the sand or a tree, will blend in with terrain and it will feel like the object is really in ground, not just a spawned object.... @ 0:42 the boat doesn't look real, it's just spawned in ground without changing the ground, like rising the sand a bit etc...

wow's graphics are amazing. especially considering how old the game is. the people that work on this game spend hours and hours and have so much pride for there work just for people to complain and shit on them. it just pisses me off so much when people say wow has bad graphics and the game sucks when they never even played it or just have a shitty computer so they cant enjoy the masterpeice and amazing zones.

today is one of my most memorible days of playing wow, ive played the game since vanilla and havent got a single char to end game level today i dinged 80 with the very same shaman ive played all these years Tears came to my eyes for a brief moment , the same happened at this video :) god bless

This video makes me cry... i had to stop playing the game cause it's too damn good, and i had no limits. the best time was in vanilla when i was a noob starting... i was a noob undead rogue been looking for a few days for a NPC that patrols from Brill to Sepulcher... then my first encounter with the Alliance in Arathi Highlands there was a mage i think doing the quest ive been stalking him in stealth, my heart started beating so hard and i think there i killed him a few times! I was so evil! :)

I no longer play WoW, I quit a month or so ago, before 4.3 hit. Part of me regrets and wants to go back but the other part argues - it's no longer the game you became to love. The Shattering shattered part of my life, I still have amazing memories and I am greatful I had a chance to experience it with loyal friends I've met in game /sob. RiP Sayel of Darkspear EU.

The problem is not the Blizzard, its just and playerbase. BUT PEOPLE, there are alot of expansions ahead... The game can always change the whole way it is made, you know how Blizzard is.

Crendor, you really picked the right places to capture. This is why I kept playing WoW for all these years. They have little things like the eyes in dark trees, and little graves with armor on it as a tribute. They actually thought about the game and the area they were creating. Good job WoW, I still love the graphics.

Honestly, Blizz needs to stop listening to the complainers, Stop buffing raids, Stop nerfing everything because players complain. Just make the god damn game the way you want. People like Crendor, and most people who watched this video don't care if it's too hard, too easy, We came here because we want Vanilla WoW back. We want to experience content, We want to be able to adventure with friends. This video reminded me of the old days, Oh why was it changed?

When they completely destroyed Azeroth, I was genuinely sad. I loved the old Azeroth, 1-60 grind could be annoying, But I loved walking to instances, Experiencing content, And the player base was much more friendly. I loved roaming the world with friends, Doing raids, Actually getting to see all the content. Now you can level 1-10, barely experience anything, And coast on BoA's and pvp gear untill you're 85. It's bullshit and I want a Vanilla server

I miss Old Azeroth myself. I don't really like the "redone" areas so much as I would like to have the originals back. Storywise, I also have a few complaints. Why can't we kill Hogger in Elwynn Forest? WHAT happened to the (now late) King of Ironforge and why are there Dark Irons in the political system? And who the #%$@'s bright idea was it to kill Ol' Blanchy?! Excuse me, got a little emotional there.
Blizzard, please make a pre-cata WoW server. I miss the old content!

@Hibba42 I know what you mean about Ol' Blanchy. When I walked into Westfall for the first time after getting Cata, I actually felt a pang of emotion on seeing the Furlbrows dead. I'd spent quite a while in Westfall during BC working for them. I agree though, we need "retro" WoW servers; one for each expansion pre-Cata. Give the old hands like us a chance to relive the glory days of Azeroth, and give the newer players who have only been around since Cata a chance to see the world as it once was.

Good this vid makes me sad.. i remember days when i was watching my bro playing this game when it was classic.i know its only a game but it became more for me,even if this sounds kinda nerdish :p.After 1 year has passed and my brother went to another flat i started playing wow.loved it but afterall and after tbc it turned it smthn. different. That story was touching my heart but it turned into pure destruction sooo sad... still i remember the nice time it became a lil part of my life :D

So many days...so many years ... "wasted" in wow...but god...I do miss does days..logging in for hourhs, raiding, leveling alts with my GF, just grinding farming proffs. while listening to the amazing ambience music... When I look back at those days I allways gets a tear in my eye... sweet youth, thy was not wasted at all, I miss you WoW, you taught me much with your deep lore, and you will allways be remebered

Considering the year wow came out and to today I think i can say wow has decent graphics but there is till room for much more improvement. We are stepping twords a new gaming era where graphics does matter . In gameplay how would i describe graphics? Something that keep's you closer to reality rather than to what you might call a game with lot's of pixels...

This is the WoW i'll always remember. My greatest memories come from classic.
It's like watching the old world existing, but nobody is there anymore... all the npcs walk around day after day wondering what happened and where everyone went. Zones that were once alive with activity are now dead. It's like looking at a fallen civilization...you can see everything great that came from it, but you can also see that its empty.
And now i've gone and depressed myself ;( /emowrists

For those of you who really played Vanilla wow to cata, don't forget all the horrible grind, crappy (go get me 10 bear ass/yeti fur) quests, significant class imbalance, useless talents, and spawning raidboss glitches. WoW is still a good game, but it's the players that have caused the game to decline more so than the company.

@toyboytbfb2 the problem with wow at the minute is the lack of challenges outside of raiding, heroics are easy pvp is easy and farming old dungeons for mounts or pets gets boring after a while, but i suppose the majority of players have made it hard for blizzard to make the game challenging because they will unsub if it challenges them which sucks but losing 5 players is better for blizzard as a business than losing fifty.

@toyboytbfb2 I agree with you, it's just that people haven't realized all the good things in expansions and only noticed the bad things. I mean BC had it's ups and downs, Wrath had it's ups and downs, and Cata has it's ups and downs. I enjoy Catclysm, mainly because I compare the pros and cons, such as "This was good, but this needs a bit of work". And Mists of Pandaria is going to be great, it'll have some changes, but for the most part it will kick ass.

This video makes me sad, but at the same time, very, very thankful that I got to experience WoW before everything started to decline. The days when you literally had to walk with your friends on your realm to an instance to enter it, when battlegrounds only contained the people on your own realm, and when it wasn't a "gamer"s game. Instead, it was a social game, a world of adventure and exploration. And god damn was it amazing.
