It (the last scene( might have been deleted from the actual episode, but the fact that they wrote it means it's still part of canon. This happened somewhere in the episode. Arthur just proposed to Merlin. God, they are so in love it's ridiculous.

writers, think that's gonna be friendship moment but after the shot is done, with Bradley and Colin's chemistry and acting, it more canon than that. Love it!

Also, has anyone noticed amongst all deleted scene, only merthur scenes are mostly the longest ones?

I can fully understand why some of the scenes were cut for story telling purpose. But I think we shall all agree that Bradley and Colin can pull of anything between them two. Their chemistry is just there, for everyone to see. The producers and writers shall really give them really good stuff to act. Their chemistry is TOO PRECIOUS to be wasted. I hope the show can deal with them with PURE AT HEART.

Just a thank you. I like all the deleted scenes but I agree with their final decision of the cut as they edited it. None were actually essential to telling the story They were trying to tell....but, if this were a movie, I would have wanted them ALL left in.

I don't see any "slash" in that scene between Arthur and Merlin. It just shows how deep a friendship can be: and, that's true, friendship between two men or between two women can actually be stronger than love. I think this is the case of Merlin/Arthur and Gwen/Arthur: after all, BJ revealed that he thinks their frienship to be stronger than the relationship with Gwen. They should have kept the amulet in. This said, everyone can ship and slash whoever they want. It's all for fun after all.

@parisad I ship M/A, but I agree about friendship being as strong as romantic relationships. However, at a certain point I think it is hard to separate "platonic friendship" and "erotic love" as I think any deep relationship must encompass both, and calling it one or the other will fall short of describing or expressing it. In the case of M/A, I see a longing expressed in their scenes which I don't think is only platonic, call it romantic/erotic/friendship, I just think they need to be together.

@sharjaht Yes, i think as well that the line between friendship and homoerotism or erotic love is very, very thin and most of the time unintentional.Though I'm heterosexual, it has occurred that I felt a sort of erotic attraction for a very close (female) friend of mine.And an erotic attraction (I said erotic, not sexual: there's still a difference, as Platon's philosophy teaches us) can be - unintentionally- sublimated into a mental attraction, which I think is the case here.

@sharjaht Maybe the authors deleted the scene because they felt they were crossing that line and such subtility is not allowed in family shows. Thus, I'm persuaded that friendship can be (sometimes) stronger than love and that a deep friendship - like the relationshipo between Arthur and Merlin, especially in season 4, can be seen as a sort of sublimated love. This said, welcome to every shippers. Everyone is entitled to have his opinions.

@xCircles90x It's just a ring, sure it's a sign of love, but something like that could easily be replaced, no big deal. But with that little talisman/coin thing, it must be something he treasures the most, as he doesn't know his mother at all, think of the bond he must have with that object. It's the ONLY connection he has to his mother. Not to mention the fact that he carries it round with him, he must also find it lucky or it gives him comfort. Giving it to Merlin must be such a big deal.

@Bowtieandafez Ok, what about in 4x05 when he told Merlin to give Gwen the ring that belongs to his mother? Every time Arthur is facing a life-threatening situation, his thoughts always revolve around her being looked after, if he dies.

Anyway, I don't see why it needs to be a competition. I adore Arwen and the M/A friendship. Arthur clearly cares about both of them. I don't get why people feel the need to belittle a relationship to somehow validate the one they ship. It's ridiculously petty.

@xCircles90x I'm not belittling anyone's relationship. I like Arwen, and I was just making a jokey comment, like most of the Merthur Shippers, about one deleted scene. This was a big moment for me it shows just how much Merlin means to Arthur, I don't have to guess now. That's what I was getting at. With Arwen you realise just how much Gwen means to Arthur, but you never get that with M/A's relationship. It was a big step forward. I'm sorry you think that I'm hating on Arwen, I'm really not.
