hey! I love this! It is incredible! You should make a tutorial on how to make games like this, I tried to use the programs you listed but to be honest they were extremely confusing and I didn't know where to start! If you have any tips or things that helped you it would be much appreciated, thanks!
@363Flaxie Thanx my friend! That was quite a while ago. The DVD is ready since forever but the board and cards are still Photoshop files on my PC. Actually I had created all the cards but I moved to the UK in the meantime so they disappeared.
Your suggestion is good: maybe a tutorial on these softwares would be good. I had to struggle all alone to find it all out!
PM me if you have questions, I'll do my best. All I can tell you for now is that the program I use is DVD Architect 4.
@CapitaineGMC thank you! I only have a few questions, did you get your video from a separate website or did you design it and if you did design it how? thanks so much!
@363Flaxie I designed everything with Photoshop: the mirror and all its parts, the wall, the columns, everything including the skull. Then I animated it with a software called: "Crazy talk". Basically, it helps you animate face from still pictures. But obviously only front pictures. The rest, the smoke effects, fire, mirror bursting, camera movements, were created with Adobe After Effects.
And the voice is mine! Mixed with Soundforge.
Fantastic work! Your work on the Atmosfear/Nightmare series and Grimmz as outstanding. You have inspired me in a way. If I was to go about trying to make an interactive DVD board game, how would I do it? Do you use a special disc, or program to randomize the DVD scene selections when it is in the DVD Player? Do you do it on After Effects, Final Cut, or any program like that? I look forward from hearing from you.
Oulà, merci ! It's been a little while now, but I gotta say my "masterpiece" is definitely this very game. And you got it all right : I use several softwares like Premiere, After effects and Photoshop to create every graphic element. Plus some stuff for the sound and music, and a special soft to animate the face.
I also use a soft to make interactive DVDs. I found it out one day, and I had absolutely NO IDEA how it would work - so, well, I just tried to figure out myself.
@CapitaineGMC Well it's great that you use After Effects and Photoshop to do you amazing work. I am already very skilled with AE and PS, so thats cool! :)
But back to DVD board games. Could you tell me the software you use to create the interactive games? I have both an iMac and a PC, and on the iMac, the only software I could think of that could do it is iDVD.
But it can't do a random scene select like in the Atmosfear games. So my next question, What is the name of your software you use? :)
@jk19studios I personally use Sony's DVD Architect 4, it enables you to program your DVD thanks to the "GPRM" (General purpose register memory) which helps random the DVD content among many other things. For example, in a "regular" DVD, sometimes you select a specific language, but before starting the movie, you watch some trailers and bonus features first. Which means you navigate into some more menus, to play the bloopers, for instance, or the deleted sequences.
@jk19studios ...But whenever you decide to finally watch the film, it is with the language you had selected before. How come the disc does not lose track of this ? Thanks to the GPRM. Randomize a DVD is using those memories in a different way. Most of those softwares use up to 16 GPRM. But DVD Architect, only 6. I prefer this one anyway for it is very intuitive and clear. The others require the knowledge of a scientist, which I'm not. By the way, I work on Windows ;-)
@Matherthebec : thanx a lot, but no way !!! I really wanna make something that looks like a cartoon ! Understand, I created 9 sequels to 'Nightmare', plus 2 interactive DVD board games. This is my 12th game, it is very "mine", this time, and I wanted to do something else. But again, thank U so much for your comment : )
Definitely one of the coolest games I have seen in a while...if you ever decide to market it (and do a version in english ;-) ) I would HAPPILY buy one...
Really ? Well, I've been thinking a lot to find something new and easier to create. I'm still workin' on the board and cards. Next game : probably a genie in the lamp. I'll make all my games be hosted by a famous character from a fairy tale.

What a useless comment. Sorry to make you realise there are actually other languages in the world than English. Fortunately I shall say.
