For those wanting to become a dog handler at 17, I suggest you either go into something within the army first and then transfer or wait a few years and then apply. Do an animal care course and volunteer at a dog kennel or rescue centre and get your experience. There may have been only 1 dog in this clip but becoming a dog handler is tough! Owning a dog is NOT the experience they are looking for, it's not enough!

@ryan12321123 hey, I have applied for the Army for the same thing as you, I'm 16 but turning 17 in May, well the first thing you do is your basic soldier training for 12 weeks (I think) then you do your phase 2 which is training for the job, most training is located in Germany. Hello, I am certain that I want to join the army and my dream job would be dog handling. The problem that I have is I am only 16, therefore would have to go to the army Technical foundation college but after I have done that I still wouldnt be old enough (only lasts for 23 weeks and the requird age for the job is 17 and a half). Any information about what I should do will be great

The British Army is called the Royal Army, the British Navy is called the Royal Navy, If I got to my Local corner shop there will be a Charity collection box somewhere to help fund new equipment for the Royal Army in Afganistan and even before the Spanish Armada, There was the Royal Navy.

Black labs in the desert. Shouldnt they be Yellow labs? less likely to be picked off by sniper, if black then they should be wearing camouflaged jackets. Liaison dogs had green jackets 1914-18 war, some handlers even used twigs and grass to give their dog a better chance.  War dogs take a long time to train, very costly. Troops get very, attached to their dog, loosing one hits them harder than loosing a man.

The handler could have cut up an old jacket and made the dog a camouflage jacket.
