  • what does it cost?

  • @micmoable It's a Washburn R314KK listed at around $400

  • Thanks Jim, wonderful video as usual. Thanks for taking the time to put them up for the rest of us. All the best from Australia.

  • @7SevenCurses7 Thank you for your support; very good luck with the song.

  • This is really a great instructional video done with proper chords (vs. some of the other more basic styles). Well done, and much appreciated!

  • @ygaht Thank you and good luck with the song!

  • is that a classical guitar ?

  • @emobible No, it's a steel-strung parlour size (small-bodied) guitar with 12 frets to the body. The brand and model details are Washburn R314KK. It's a replica of their late 19th century parlour guitar.

  • one of the best teachers

    realy.

  • @tamklndf Thank you very much!

  • WTF! are "teaching" the song or are you teaching how to play chords...etc.etc.etc blah,blah..

just play the song first and then elaborate on the boring exhaustive details.

  • @Sebastopolfan Welcome to Youtube Seb - my humble apologies to you for subjecting you to a very long and drawn out 57 second introduction to this series of videos, before getting down to the practicalities of checking guitar-tuning prior to teaching folks how to play this song. It's for beginners, so again - my apologies if it's not suitable for you. Feel free to move on and continue where you left off school, trying to avoid the rigours of learning anything properly.

  • Now now young Gavin - this is the 1st video of a series teaching folks how to play this song as Dylan played it. The videos are instructional/educational, and obviously very well received by intelligent people. However, if others (like you) have a limited vocabulary, or the attention span the length of a gnat's pecker, then it may take time before the light dawns. Try to stick it out (metaphorically speaking) and you may get lucky and learn something. Good luck!

  • Gavin - try to deal with your feelings of anger, insecurity, hate, isolation and general unhappiness by taking time to do something constructive with your time, instead of looking for ways of expressing yourself to the world by making use of limited 4-letter expletives. You could start by dropping the "666" from your call-sign; it would be a positive first step to getting the devil off your shoulder. Language development is good too - try to use "you're" or "you are" instead of "your".

  • Thank you - I look forward to your return here; good luck with your guitar!

  • love this, thank you very much. I was trying to learn this song, and I had some doubts about the strumming, but now I understood. Thanks, and goodbye

  • Thanks very much - good to hear you're back in the groove!

  • I wish this video would be HD

  • I love your guitar. Great sound, and very stylish looking. What brand is it? I'll bet it's way out of my price range, but than everything is when you're poor.

  • A Washburn R314KK - cost me 380 Euros in Amsterdam

  • Just started learning and this video is very informative. thank you.

  • Thank you - similar "Blowing in the Wind" videos (suitable for beginner guitarists) will be uploaded in a few days too, and I hope they help also.

  • Thank you very much - I get stick from some for taking so much time.

  • Nice guitar you have there, mate. What model is it?

  • A Wasburn R314K celebration model.

  • .....talk talk talk talk talk talk talk.....

    .....less talky more play...E.

Seriously though...this video is great but there's so much unnecessary babble and repetition.

  • Yea I know - sorry about that; a whole 60 seconds before I got to the guitar tuning test - another whole 60 seconds before explaining the chords..... Jesus, my life is passing me by............

  • @Lowdenjim hahaha I wasn't really expecting a reply on this. you shouldn't be apologizing for some wacko you don't even know. It's a good video, though. Fo' realz.

  • Thanks - anyone taking time to leave a comment deserves a few seconds of my time to get a reply!

  • all us simple ppl and slow learners thank you alot.. great job.

  • In my book of philosophy "slow and simple" usually equates to thorough and durable........

  • Great tutorial. thanks for breaking it down, old school style. tremendous help!

  • You're welcome - "old school" (Yeh - that's me!!)

  • thank you professor, probably i am the 1st one who play dont think twice in morocco.

you have a very remarkable method.

pls i need some van zandt's titles: MAMA , SNOWING ON RATON, WATING AROUND AND DIE,YOU ARE NOT NEEDED NOW , GREENSBORO WOMAN.

    thank you very much JIMMY.

  • You are most welcome - I'll look up some Van Zandt songs...

  • great vid mate. way hoping to find a good video like this one. very thoughtful and midful to beginners too. thanks

  • You're very welcome - good luck with the song!

  • Excellent. Your thoroughly breaking it down. Its not as simple as it appears, and while simple cover can be done, how much nicer to play it the way Dylan did with some of those nuances in place regarding the strumming pattern and correct chords. I am watching the full series cause I want to learn the whole Times They Are A Changin' album. Thanks so much Jim for getting me started.

  • Thank you - I've been criticised for taking so much time but I want to help beginners as well as intermediate players so I am determined to get all the basics covered.

  • Pretty good lesson so far. Off to part to. Thanks the strumming is the part I've been struggling with the most. Very helpful video.

  • Thanks - good luck with the song, and I hope you find my other Dylan "How to" videos helpful.

  • @Lowdenjim Haven't even looked at any of your other videos yet... I can't believe I've been playing guitar for almost 10 years and I can't get this rhythm down! haha. Need to practice more. I'll give your other videos a look right now. Thanks again for this!

  • I'm very much thankful I came across your video lessons. Thank you for taking the time to make all of your videos, they help tremendusly!

  • Thank you - you're very welcome.

  • best lesson on this classic songs helped a lot

  • Thanks Annie - glad to be of help; good luck with the song!

  • its grate man thanks

  • You're welcome Jon - good luck with it...

  • Too much talking- I've lost interest and I'm going to someone elses tutorial...

  • You're absolutely right - thanks for the wake-up call. On your observation I'll withdraw this video and post a pruned down version without the chat.

  • Thanks for your efforts. This is a great song to introduce to my group of strummers when we get together. And there are more great Dylan songs!

Thanks again - like your style.

  • Thanks - you're very welcome. Good luck to you and your students!

  • Jim for some reason I'm thinking of you and Zen & the Art of Bob Dylan maintainence. You are part Zen, part musical pathologist. You pare it back to the bone, take it all apart, show us the working parts, how they work and put it all back together again good as new and true to the original. A wonderful spectacle. Yikes I'm all metaphysical tonight and Joan is quizical studying science in the home ................... ;-)

  • ..... and Maxwell thought HE was an alchemist. With you around Joe he'd have learned the true art of casting real gold from our beautiful language, and maybe, just maybe, wouldn't have fallen off that stupid yacht.....

  • Great Lesson Jim!!!

  • Hi Glen - great to hear from you again; thanks for your endorsement!

  • Brilliant Jim. My son asked me today if i could play this song and I said no but it was a song I intended to have a go at. No excuse now eh?

  • Your son has good taste Tony, and yes - no excuses!
