Hey everybody! I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by the music and storyline of The Road. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
amazing, touching video. This movie is as difficult to watch as the book was difficult to read but they are both worth it. Viggo's performance is heartbreaking and Kodi does a fine job for so young an actor.
Just finished reading the book. The ending about the fish was weird though. i didnt get it. however, i believe the movie was more powerful. viggo and kodi both did a splendid job.
@JenseninBrizo I'll tell you what I think... I believe it means that a new life begins, a new world, it will not be the same as before, because everything was being destroyed... The writer maybe uses the fish to say that, because the first creatures on earth were living on the sea. It's sth optimistic and hopeful. That's what I get. I hope I helped you a little bit. I was confused too, when I read the last paragraph! ;-)
Nobody believes the conclusion of "Thunderdome" in a literal sense. Nuclear Apocalypse thrillers are generally allegories, not realistic attempts to illustration life after a nuclear war. The Road is a rare exception. It takes the classical portrayal of the glorious fall of Babylon and turns it on its head, reminding us that destruction, by itself, is never actually glorious. Glory only comes in the rebuilding, a feat only possible where we've left ourselves enough viable raw material to rebuild
@ZephramStark Actually, in The Road are not depicted the consequences of a nuclear war. Even if neither the book or the movie explains the kind of catastrophe has occurred, all the details drive to a volcanic explosion disaster (ash in the air, random firestorms, sky covered by ash clouds and sun not able to get trough leading to slow extinction of vegetation and then of animals). Similar disaster happened ages ago and lead to nearly complete extinction of most lifeforms on the planet.
@ZephramStark Actually not. In case of great volcanic explosion, the mid side of the atmosphere is filled with a more or less dense filter of ash which prevents most solar rays to get to the surface. Direct consequence is most vegetables just die. In time, all the animals relying on vegetation starve and die. So all predators living on vegetarians species starve too and die. Its a simple chain reaction. We don't need any nuclear weapon to get to extinction.
@chrishot10 I agree with you. BTW, your tribute is very touchy. The reason why I get to deepen the kind of disaster is that, well, I think The Road is a really accurate and desperate picture about how fragile our specie is. We consider ourselves so untouchable, ruling the world and able to make it what we like. I often read comments about the idea that disaster came from a nuclear war: as if even facing extinction we still want the handle of it. I don't think so.
@krn3ll I concur. Is it not an interesting point, however, that in books about war with another intelligent species we sometimes lose, yet in practically all films the Human Race inevitably triumphs in the end.
@lockitkitten It's the book that I read first in 2007! I was so moved by it and I cried a lot! It was a very powerful book indeed and heartbreaking and I believe the same for the movie! Thanks for recommending it though! ;-)
The film is real great, Viggo Mortensen Inspired me, he is a great artist, his interpretation thrilled me, Great actor, thanks man. Forget all bunch of garbage end world movie Hollywood have been producing (Specially McG Garbage Terminator), this is the unic vision of the end of the world, there is none special effects, only the oad, and that's what we will gonna get.
Great tribute video! Such an astounding film, and yet so underrated and widely unseen. Have you ever heard the piece of music "On The Nature of Daylight" by Max Richter? That would've gone well with this too. :)
@chrishot10 You're very welcome. "Daylight" is an incredibly sad piece of music, but also very moving. I couldn't help but think of it while watching the video. "The Last Man", however, is still one hell of a fine choice. ;)
How on earth did you manage to get such great screen caps? This is a beautiful video, and the film is too brilliant to have been overlooked as it has. Thank you Weinstein Brothers.
@crossharps Believe me, it wasn't so difficult! The whole film is full of such great screen caps, you know this very well! Every scene is so moving and touching in this film!

@krn3ll The dinosaurs didn't have grow lights. You need more than the lack of sun to explain why everything was dying.
