  • Wow, the idea is so innovative. Yet, it seems easy to make. I don't think I'll need a prefab for this, but I will give you credit for the testing element if I use it. That is to say, I will only use it with your permission. So, do I have your permission?

  • @DrexelDragonO91 Feel free to make one, but keep in mind that this is actually a lot harder than it looks. having it tell if it's placed correctly doesn't work, and going through/behind it is really glitchy. The second problem is fixed in my portal 2 version, but I still don't have any way to truly tell if the device is squarely on the ground and right-side-up my best option ended up being to only allow placement on func_brushes. So good luck, and I'll get a vid of my P2 version out soon.

  • @GuitarFREAK9700 Maybe, but probably for Portal 2 instead of Portal 1. There is an entity for P2 called linked_portal_doors that is more adjustable. I'm still experimenting with it, so I might use either that or the regular portal system.

  • @HumorisLogical I'm not sure if I'll ever incorporate and release this. Maybe I'll make something like this for Portal 2, since its portal code is probably more robust and will hopefully be less glitchy. For now, it's just an idea I put together into a semi-working device.

  • Excellent work. Is there a way to make it so you can shoot blue and orange portals on it instead of it making the blue portals for you?

  • No. I made sure that the portal closes as soon as the base is moved. This means that there can't be an open portal for the device to travel through when the device is traveling at all. Before I had made the I/O robust, I could put it on top of a portal and push it down. It would close too late, and the upper parts of the device would be stuck on the other side. This thing contains a lot of invisible stuff to make sure it works right.
