aha whoa. all this about an arabian pleasure class. pretty much id just like to point out. did anyone else see the horse being alot different w. his left front (at least ) than his right? when she sat he didnt put it out as far. do they get marked down for that? i dont even know how they win these clases!!! ahhaa
i wonder how many of the horses in these classes have been properly trained and how many have been sored or have had some kind of unethical training method used?
i promise you most of these horses have been properly trained. i know or have heard many good things about the trainers, and they wouldnt ever treat a horse unethically. they are show horses, and are very well taken care of.
Arabian trainers do not "sore" their horses. That is a method used mainly in TWH. We breed for horses that have the talent to be english horses. The only thing unnatural that arabian trainers use for motion is weighted shoes. The last thing you would want in an engliish horse (or any of our show horses for that matter) is anything that might make them sore. Any soreness translates into a horse with an uneven stride or an unwillingness to work.
bi-lateral pressure shoeing in the front is also one way to get or enhance that "exaggerated" gait. nor would it necessarily make the horse's stride uneven or the horse unwilling. the horse really "gets under" himself to take the weight off the front. (a desirable outcome).
anytime there is BIG MONEY on the line, you will find people willing to go that "extra mile".
after all, owners pay for results--many don't care how.
I have ridden and worked for one of the top english pleasure trainers on the west coast. I can say that i have seen this trainer use a lot of good training methods and a few harsh ones. When it comes shoeing and legs, (most) of the arabian trainers dont mess around. They do the most that they can to keep their legs and feet pain free. We dont use bi lateral pressure shoeing or soreing. I have also ridden with the top western and hunter trainers in the west coast. They dont do it either.
I have only heard of one story (from the owner of the horse) about a horse that had foundered and the owners were not told about it until after a couple of shows and they ended up taking the horse home from the trainer anyways. When you get deeper into the national show circuit you can figure out which trainer uses nasty tricks and which dont. After that it is a matter of personal opinion.
Beautiful horse :]
i do saddleseat with saddlebreds but Arabians are quite the preformers

i certainly hope you're right.

NO discipline or breed is exempt.

Arabians have no money in their classes
schwartzedesign 2 years ago
What the hell?? I never said they did.
People don't MAKE their money from showing! You NEED money to do the show circuit.
Showing is done with a specific purpose in mind: to campaign your horse(s), stable, and yourself as a trainer/breeder, etc.
Care to hazard how much a horse of that calibur costs? My guess is somewhere in the 5-6 digits.

Maybe more.
A stud with enough points and honors (LOH, LOM, etc.) commands TOP DOLLAR for stud fees.
A WINNING trainer commands top dollar, as well.
Let me repeat that: A WINNING trainer.
And that's my point. There are many good trainers out there, but with that kind of money on the line there ARE people who will "take shortcuts".
I don't know Mr. Siemon, but the fact he left up my comment is definitely to his credit, and he has my respect for that.

Love Arabians, but had a question. I dont know a lot about showing Arabs, I actually show miniatures, and was wondering, do they wear false tails?
Nigel2030 2 years ago
No, they bag the tails and have them grow that long, It is so beautiful.
