It's a test - I have seen this on TV here in Germany back in the 70ies ("the seventh sense" TV show, as somebody already mentioned). They stated "just a 5 ton truck, and it was only going at 70 km/h (44 mph)!"

Unfair yet realistic to choose a 2CV as the last car ... it practically dissolved. The Ford and the Beetle where probably the most robust of these cars anyway.

No, it is not a real crash. It was staged! There used to be a show on German Television, called "Der Siebte Sinn" (The seventh sense). It aired for many many years from the 70ies to the early 2000`s. The show dealt with traffic safety tipps and explained the rules of traffic and so on. Each episode was just 4 minutes long. This episode was shot in the 70ies, that is why they use a beetle and a 2cv, regular cars back in those days.
