  • Dude sweet video

  • ive never seen a more nerdy looking guy in my life

  • this went downhill ever since kipkay left.....

  • Comment removed

  • show us the basics of volume thingy

  • what is handling the ground pins of your LED matrix? Does the MAX handle that?

  • @FussyCashew yes

  • 4:27, that is what my 5x7 experiment looked like xD

  • were you having a small earthquake when you made this video?

  • so... the MAX7219 is like... a 16-BIT shift register... with built-in ground connections... legit!!!

  • DUDE LOOOOSE the lipstick............

  • @692ran He's not wearing lipstick. He just has red lips.

  • @sparkmedia01 no his skin is PALE so his lips stick out more

  • Here's some code I used for my 4x4 matrix: minipenguin . com?cat=14

  • stupid music

  • True geek! Respect.

  • □■□

  • Speaking of simulations, imagine displaying a Mandelbrot set on a 16x16 matrix...

  • What program do you use to make these cool electronic tunes? Is there a Windows version?

  • what is your voltage input?

  • Play Tertris!!

  • if you can't open it..... you don't own it

  • i have an old news flasher with alot around that size

  • "Life with salsa!", LOL...

  • What about shift register instead of multiplexing?

  • what program do you use to make pcb???

  • @teknoguy1212 the best program is called Eagle

  • @MinecraftTechnic Not really. Personally, I'd have to say Fritzing is. It's open source, has great features with diagram/PCB/realistic views, integrates well with Arduino/Processing, and has a huge community of users and university backing behind it.

  • What is the communication between the Arduino and those LED Matrix Driver chips? I²C (AKA TWI)? If that's I²C, then how to assign a different address to each chip?

  • Anyone else see the "If you can't open it, you don't own it" mint tin at 1:49?

  • Red & Green are the worst enemy of a color deficient person like me.

  • instead of those rotating pot meters i used sliders way easier to play right now

  • Like life with salsa! lmao

  • can you make a LED Matrix cube?

  • i want your led's

    '

  • Nice video, learned a lot! Thank you!

  • I'd really love to have the PCB schematic (; Could you share them with us?

  • @DeathbyDusk iim gonna try that

  • YES....the code pleas :( this is realy COOL!! :) BEST JOB MAN ;)

pleas send the code on my email : radek.bari@volny.cz

Thank you and sorry of my englisch ... i´m czech

  • "Life with salsa!.. or something."

  • 15 people does not like electronics...

  • Have you got a HEX programm for this progect?

  • can some body please help me with the code or give me a link

  • And to think i hated tec at school lol...

Absolutely loves these how too's,keep em coming

  • can u tell me where u find ur music plz?

  • @c0p3d0lo he makes it himself

  • @jrigvd he is awesome, thumbs if u think he should post all his music somewhere online and make a vid!!!

  • @c0p3d0lo i agree!! HE's AWESOME

  • Thanks, you blew my fucking subwoofer...

  • @bluecastproductions search "circuit skills" in YouTube. He has a step by step of printing and etching your own PCB

  • if you cant open it

    you dont own it

LOL where did u get that!

  • if you can`t open it

    you don`t own it

  • i have the chip, but don't know how to program it. can someone plz upload the code

  • this man makes me want to learn

  • @ARIESxSTORM For some reason, me too... ELECTRONICS, HERE I COME!!!

  • how did you create your PCB?

  • @BluecastProductions he buy it =P

  • @ozzak159 , @BluecastProductions He said he etched it meaning he made it him self

  • I've got a question on the Code of Conway's game of life.

How do you calculate the number of neighbors and check their states (alive or dead)? Because I want to do something like this for a little 9x9 Matrix and there are a lot of combinations in states that have to be considered.

  • the code plz

  • you've got a wierd soldering iron tip

  • can you plz show the code to work with the MAX 2719, as i am not a verry good programer thanks

  • LOL the breadboard hahahaha

  • Can I ask what did you major in?

I'm trying to decide on my future major, THANKS!

  • @teandrewryan yeaahhhh

  • Whats that sorta handheld game console thing called he has at the start

  • Also, here's a video of the 4x4 matrix working watch?v=3lRWK5061e8

  • After watching this video I built a 4x4 led matrix (16 leds controlled by 8 arduino pins), here's the code that I wrote a code and posted it in pastebin.com, here it is: pastebin.com / FZMkpDy6 (you don't have to use any chip, just plug arduino pins with resistors at the matrix). Remember to use NPN pins to activate the 4 negative pins...You can use this code with any numbers os leds, just change the 4 value to the number of leds on each axis. Thumbs up to everybody see please

  • I want to make a 1920x1080 led matrix.

  • @geekionizado good for you.

  • Is this the same principle in which LCD or backlit led screens work?

  • I UNDERSTOOD! I only have to use 3 NPN transistors to power the anodes and power the cathodes directly with the microcontroller. So I use 6 pins of the microcontroller, and use a minimum delay, so, when I flash a LED, and want to flash the another LED togheter, I turn it off it quickly and turns on the other, delay a milisecond and turn it off and turn the other on so fast that nobody will see then turning off!! :D (sorry by my VERY poor english)

  • men, you have a monkey face!

  • @unfreeze don't care you do have one. Great or not great

  • gotta be lipstick.

  • how about snake

  • "If you cant open it, you dont own it" I love it!

  • what shade of lipstick do you use?

  • how do you program the leds to light up in different ways im not much of a computer geek

  • Are you using Lipstick, I mean i think you are an smart guy but don´t be GAY

  • NERD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @puneet7891 wow

  • isn't that just a complex way of calling it a parallel circuit ?

  • Great keep them coming. Could you do something on quad encoders ?

    Thanks

  • Collin where can I get a copy of all your music?

  • There is a reason they use TFTs instead of LED matrixes in real products. It's expensive for LED matrixes (plus you need some sort of encoder/driver unless you want to use all your GPIO pins). It's also expensive in terms of power if you are running off of a battery.

  • Could you do a tutorial on etching PCBs? I feel that would be handy to alot of us...

  • @bengcooper he already has!

  • what's the code for pong?

  • you remind me of an older version of traveller from house hold hacker..

  • Collin needs his own channel

  • this guys a badass

  • you sad you made your own board, how do you did it ?

  • @eightstudio he has another video on it. basically its like developing film or silk screening. The have a transparency with the design of the board on it and a board coated with resist. this is then exposed to light after being cured with the paper on top. the portions with the transparency on in will have the resist under it but the portion exposed to light will allow the resist to dissolve. It is then cure again. Watch the video for more detail

  • 15243 viewer? anyone

  • i love he makes the music to his videos :D

  • I cant even win at pong with 1 player...

  • Make a retina display :D

  • i now understand how multiplex work. Thanks

  • make a 1024x768 matrix screen and them connect in to your pc

  • @TutorialsByKevin lol LED PC display???

  • @krisis117 yea:D its good for the worlf

  • @TutorialsByKevin it worked!

  • @TutorialsByKevin

That would be... 786 432 LEDs, holy shhh...! It would take 9.1 days for a stop watch to count that many seconds, and thinking of soldering that... o_O

  • Why.. We have LCD screens for that type of use o_O

  • @unfreez yea but isnt that cool for makeing your own screen?

  • @TutorialsByKevin Just calculate the amount of LEDs that would take, and the screen would be massive, and in very bad quality

  • @TutorialsByKevin

... if you take some 3 mm LED's your screen would be (at least) 3,072 by 2,304 meters...

  • @TutorialsByKevin Why not 2560x1600?

  • @TutorialsByKevin You could buy the leds for him

  • @TutorialsByKevin Ugh imagine 1080p HD!!!

  • @TutorialsByKevin A friend of mine is building a 800*600 with a couple of PIC's and a serial port ;)

  • @Rubdos Niceeee

  • @TutorialsByKevin even just an 800*600 screen would be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  • @TutorialsByKevin do you think it would blend ?;D

  • @kinsi55 Uhuhuhmmm if you push hard then yes:D

  • @TutorialsByKevin why not 1600x1200? :D

  • @TheEXTRAtesco YEA:D

  • @TutorialsByKevin If you want to assemble the matric of LED's which adds up to... lets see, 1024x768x4 for the colour combinations, you need right around 3.1 million individual LED's that need to be soldiered, not to mention the control boards. Good luck with that.

  • @TutorialsByKevin and walk 2 blocks away to see it cleary

  • @TutorialsByKevin

    too expensive

  • @TutorialsByKevin 800 x 600 would do and each pixel needs red green and blue that would be awesome

  • @minttuber And yellow. :)

  • @YellowPikmin476 lol yeah

  • i watched this with the sound off, it was just pretty lights.

  • bring me mini maker show

  • I'd choose Collin over that senile prick KipKay anytime !

  • he is so awkward that i love his videos

  • collin is awesome, need more!

  • Collin #FTW !!

  • Collin rules! :)

  • more collin please.

  • epic sideburns

  • Wicked!! :D

  • i love collins dry seance of humor lol!

  • love your vids Collin!

  • I build stuff all the time :) Hee hee, it is fun!!

  • cool

  • heey colin, i'm really like electronics and DIY projects such as this one, but i have idea where to start. Where did you acquire your skills? thanx for answering!

  • You rock collin!!!

  • he looks like some kind of evil genius

  • your speaking cadence is horrible

  • life with salsa =D

  • @13farseer13 i <3 Salsa

  • Man i wish you made this 5 months ago, when i had to learn this the hard way ._.

  • how about a video on how to design and etch a printed circuit board.

  • @beme17764 he did make one... just look for it in one of the playlists

  • and what kipkay ??

  • can one somehow get your music? i love it.

  • LED multiplexing information, i has it

  • Another great video.. please keep them coming

  • Sweet video Collin! Keep 'em coming.

  • I WANT KIPKAY !!!

  • Awesome, as always.

  • I think it would be interesting to watch you make something very complex. Like a screen for something like a computer or something with LEDs or something. Idk

  • one man pong... forever alone :(

  • @Ivultorky

... are you talking about yourself?!

  • collin are you using lipstick

  • 6:01 Like Mayo?

  • Collin reminds me of Bree, just, the electronics version. Love this stuff!

  • Collin is the best!!! Usable projects and a lot of information in his Vids.

  • Collin>Kipkay

  • THIS GUY IS SO FUCKING ODD, HE KINDA SCARES ME :/

  • @ukrides How?

  • Comment removed

  • "A little messy" lol, yea...

  • hey collin can easily make a shop of leds with those he used!!!!1

  • Dear You tube,

I have found a button that says: "dislike" on this video.

Please fix the problem, thank you.

    Yours gratefuly Electricsrb.

  • Buy new glasses, that aren't as horrible as yours....
