@kylkiller44 if you can grab the rim, you can dunk but this takes ALOT of skill and hangtime, you hae to be able to throw it forward in the short amount of time your high enough tograb the rim, without the ball bouncing off the back of the rm and flying the other way. But to be able to dunk without serious skill you would ave to be able to jump abou 23.5 cms or about 9.5 inchs above the rim. which is a little more than the height of the basketball

i love jordan and i'm a die hard tarheel fan but jordan should not be on this list....not because he didn't have the ability but dean smith's system didn't allow him to be a breakout player with a lot of stats....jordan didn't even make the all-UNC starting 5...he's still the g.o.a.t. though

What I find amazing is who was Jordan's role model? He was clearly a pioneer and revolutionary and you can see it in the way he plays - he had a style and repertoire that was unprecedented. All the best players today have at least once in their life taken Jordan as their role model and hero - especially Kobe.

Hell, Jordan was the third best player on that Carolina team. Worthy and Perkins were better college players. MJ's idol, David Thompson was a way better college player as was Len Bias.

Clearly Jordan wins over Magic on defense. He also was statisically one of the best rebounders at the guard position we've ever seen (over 6 a game for his career). He usually wanted to guard the other teams best player, assuming it wasn't a center. I'm 30 years old, so yes, many of you have a deeper history of watching the game but from 1988 (when I became fascinated w/ hoops) to present day, nobody in any sport or any profession for that matter can compare w/ MJ's dominance. The GOAT!

@ACDC392333 Naah. Jordan had too many intangibles that raised him past Magic, but he couldn't pass like Magic. (nobody could). Wilt...well, different era. He seldom had a guy his size to play against., and his 101 point game was when they were allowed to lob the in-bounds pass over the backboard. Who do you think grabbed it every time? @Ransomonious yeah but Magic had this freakish mixture of size, speed and intelligence. Hes who Lebron wishes he could be. The fact he could play at literally any position and excel, and as you say pass to me makes him better. Really anything MJ could do Magic could do and then some, although he couldnt dunk as ridiculously well.
Wilt, true its a different era, but you will never see a player as dominant without even really trying.

Well, I personally think Magic knew how to win more than LeBron, and I would rather have him on my team. But, Lebron can play any position too.
But, Jordan's career PPG is way above Magic's. Magic's career PPG is 19.5, Jordan's is 30.1. But, Magic's APG is 11.2, and Jordan's is in the 5s. But, Magic ran the point...so that makes sense.

@Ransomonious And Magic had Worthy and Abdul Jabbar, two hall of fame scorers. Jordans supporting cast was all about supporting him: Pippen got him the ball, Rodman defended etc. When Magic wanted or needed to he could drop 40 on you just as easy as MJ couldve.

@ACDC392333 Magic's all around skills are impressive, and his court sense lethal, but I think the area where Jordan was clearly ahead was his ability to score. I'm not saying Magic was bad at it, he was GREAT, but Jordan, the numbers are so far ahead of everybody else.

@ACDC392333 But scoring is not the only stat that Jordan excels in. He was 6 times defensive MVP too. But, I love them both. The NBA could use either now. They both would be an excellent replacement for a Kobe or Lebron.

@ACDC392333 Magic was a liability on defense. Jordan was one of the best perimeter defenders in his era and all time. Basketball is not just about how you help your team score. It's about playing both ends of the court. Magic had great floor vision. Was one of the best play makers of all time. But when you compare their defensive abilities, Jordan wins hands down.

@Amir883 Magic was asked to guard the best player on every teamhe faced, no matter whether that player was a PG or a PF. Really the only position he didnt have to guard was center, since Abdul Jabbar had that handled. And he did and good job, plus was a phenomenal rebounder, which is of course a very important aspect of playing defense Jordan didn't always have to once he had Dennis Rodman. Yes he was a very good defender, but he wasn't asked to shut down a player that was out of position.

@ACDC392333 So much wrong with your post: 1) Magic was not asked to guard the other team's best player. Michael Cooper and Byron Scott were for his entire career. Magic was a defensive liability. He often played the other team's worst player. 2) Rebounding is an important part of defense but a great rebounder doesn't always mean a great defender. Charles Barkley was an awful defensive player who averaged 11rpg. 3) Dennis Rodman didn't join MJ till '95.

MJ was a 9 time NBA All defensive player and the 88 Defensive Player of the Year. Magic never made the All-NBA Defensive team. He was a liability. Your last sentence doesn't even make sense. Magic is a great player and IMO the best point guard of all time. But defense was the weakest part of his game.

@ACDC392333 Yea but when Michael was moved to the point guard position late in the 1989 season, he proved to be more dominant than anybody else there. He had a late-season run when he recorded 7 straight triple-doubles, and 10 in an 11-game span while averaging 41 ppg, 11 rpg, and 11 apg. He actually finished the season with 3 40-pt triple-doubles and one when where he finished 2 pts shy of a 50-pt triple-double (Vs Phoenix on January 21). He led the NBA in triple-doubles that year, while Magic,

@Christien23 - Wilt averaged over 50 points a season. He had a double double every night. If they counted blocks and assists in those days he would have had multiple quadruple doubles- some refs say he averaged 10 blocks per game. If steals were a stat - many have quintuple doubles.
Wilt would pork that half a fagg*t Rodman in his butt on the court and leave him for dead. Jordan would have tried to go to the hole a few times then he would have known better after picking his ass off the floor.
