CLRubyHypatia is right. The book of Genesis begins with two different creation stories by two different people. You can stump any creationist by asking for the first 56 verses of Genesis in correct chronological order. The first is the 6 (plus a day of rest account), then the second occurs in one day (yom). The order of the two stories is different, man is created after plants and animals in the first, before them in the second.

this is actually what happend... in the bible adam and eve had two sons cain and able and cain killed able and so all of a sudden cain gets a wife... well the bible doesnt mention that adam and eve could probably have more kids so cains wife is actually his sister. God only put certain people in the Bible. and didnt want every single people since it grew to be so many people in the world and just wanted important people and who have good stories to read... so thats how cain got his wife...

Genesis chapter 1 is an overview. Chapter 2 gives a specification of the creation of Adam and Eve. It's thought that the first and second chapters weren't written together because there is variation in the author's mode of wording from one chapter to the next.

It's like this, Eve was Adam's 2nd wife. I kid you not, first Adam and LILITH were created (the same way, from dust), and Lilith wanted equal rights (the 1st feminist!), which of course led to a huge argument and Lilith invoking god, so she could leave. God couldn't make her come back (cursing her kids for her disobediance, making 100 of them die every day), so he made a new woman from Adam's rib, thus making her submissive to Adam.

Presumably, those outside of the garden were Lilith's children.

No, not in the bible. She is first mentioned by I think the Sumerians (that's where the whole creation myth comes from) and she is present in the talmud and the kabbalah. The Lilith story explains why there are two different versions of genesis in the bible.

God did not do that for God but for Adam. God will do all kinds of things that seem as though He can't make up His mind but it is not that He didn't know it's that He wants you to know and understand why He is doing it. See if He had just made Eve do you think adam would have appreciated her? No, but after goinf through all these animals and seeing that they are not "up to par" he was joyful and gave glory to God for the creation of his wife.

Genesis speaks of three sons but also says they had many sons and daughters, who we can assume spread out and grew rapidly in number. We are not told when Cain was drove out, only after he killed Abel. So it is not unreal that Cain found a wife, although it would be a relative.  We are al related, I guess. Later marrying a close relative was forbidden when the Mosaic law was given.

In chapter one Moses gives us the order of creation. In chapter two he goes back and gives further detail of the creation of the the first man and the first women. So yes you did not read it right.  Adam and eve were the first human beings.

Basically, they are probably 2 creation stories, old spoken stories that probably were jumbled up into one bible. Remember back then only the rabbis (and maybe wealthy people) could read. So people could not examine the bible for themselves.

It was Adam and LILITH. But since both Adam and Lilith were EQUALS, God didn't like that so he made another woman, out of a 'spare part' of a man, therefore establishing the 'superiority' of man to woman.

Lilith is mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Book of Isaiah 34:14, and a few other places. You should def look it up and do a story on it, because it's pure drama material. God makes Adam and Lilith as equals. Adam can't handle an equal woman, and they fight and break up. Adam asks for another one and god makes one out of his rib instead. Then Lilith is demonised, literally. She is used as an omen of evil, demon of death and so on. It's all very interesting.

yeah. so looked up isaiah 34:14. ESV, NIV, KJV, no lilith. NRSV is the only one. way to go for literal translations that put in a hebrew word coming from the root for night, instead of translating to night creature...

I've heard others say that, the idea that it is the same event being described twice. But like many things in the bible - the writing is often subjective rather than concise. However.. that still leaves the problem of where cain got his wife from - unless god had also created a "People R US" store somewhere near by. Of course, it its just a story (which I'm guessing it is) then it needs no more explanation than hansel and gretel does.

There is a reason for that. Say you are describing things you saw thrown out of a tent. You would likely describe the first thing thrown, then the second thing thrown, then third, etc. Right? The ancients would describe the most important thing thrown out of the tent, then the second most important item, then the third most important. Not chronologically.

No. That's exactly how they would do it. When they go to the elaboration, they discuss the most important item first. In Genesis 1, the main subject is the days, so they stay with the correct chronology.

The book of Genesis is there to teach us certain lessons. We are often reading it to try to learn early history. That's why it is frustrating to read.

Well, if I'm honest, even as a child I didn't beileve the adam and eve story, in fact I think I'd dismissed it as being true story even before I'd stopped beleiving in santa clause. However, as a divinely inspired allegory with a message behind it, then who knows? Maybe - maybe not.
