  • Your Video Richard Branson of the Virgin Group Limited speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. "We must not be the generation for irreversibly damaging the environment Is Very Useful Sharing

  • @DieSheepleDie..............you’re comment completely contradicts itself and is insane as you clearly are!....EVEN if what you’re saying is true...yes the earth may survive but would be damaged for the next life form and yes we wont be around forever but id certainly like to pro long my existence for as long as possible....but you obviously don’t care about youre (probably miserable life) or the lives of others....so what AM I saying!

  • A few billion dollars is pocket change for Sir Richard, and he will get lots of government benefits and profits, but most people make that sound like a bad thing. If he weren't going to benefit from his efforts, why would he bother? We need more captains of industry like Branson to blaze a trail to advancement of alternative energy and private space travel. If anything, Mr. Branson sets a good example that we all should follow in terms of clean energy and promoting positive change.

  • @MLBinwa Lmao, bullshit.

  • i smell tax benifits and hi ceo salieries.it hurt him to say he is.giving away all that money he couldnt even look up at that point. cant fool a true business man mr branson

  • branson is a wimp, he has no guts

  • Well Done Kind Sir...

  • People are so damn stupid. To think that we could have an effect on the earth is insane. The earth has been through much more destructive things than us pesky humans, and it will long be here when us humans are gone. Thats right folks, we are going away.

  • @DieSheepleDie

Yes, our planet has been through lots of things that have been more destructive then what us humans have done over the years, and the Earth will survive, but if you think we haven't had an effect on the planet in ways that effect humanity in negative ways, then I'd have to say, you are 100% wrong, and it would be very easy to prove.

  • @DieSheepleDie Well, let me give you a small example - a comparison: even if the human body is a strong, resisting, long-term developed marvel, something as little as a bacteria (or micrograms of certain substances) can easily kill anybody. It's not size. It's power and leverage - it's the ability to multiply your power by working with people and creating ideas that lead others

  • @DieSheepleDie

:-) If you're going to quote Carlin, at least say so.

  • @DieSheepleDie ofcoarse the earth will be here thats not the point its us he's worrying about

  • @DieSheepleDie you need to stop listening to the narrow minded george carlin, take my advice.

we no longer have a "natural" impact on the earth. were discovering, producing and creating elements and substances that normally would not exist in this world. our brains adapted quickly than anything this earth expected, earth like anything in the universe has an end. it will live and it will die, you dont need a book to know this, just a functioning brain.

  • @DieSheepleDie somone been watching George Colin ;)

  • @DieSheepleDie Sure, so you want to human be gone faster?

Regardless of what influence we have on a planet, I prefer to live in a clean city/environment with a clean air and not in some garbage pit.

By the way, have you ever been above a continent at night - between 20-23 o'clock? Definitely you cant' see humans there underneath you. But you can see what impact they are making....

It is just a very difficult number to comprehend and imagine - 6,000,000,000 (and more already).

    & Atom bombs...

  • @DieSheepleDie

My response to you is your an idiot.

  • @DieSheepleDie really you sound like you already know the future what you are saying is not wrong but you should also acknowlage that our technology could go beyond planets one day

  • Zero point energy technology, Free energy is here....We have also figured out anti-gravity....This knowledge is freely available to those who seek it.

  • global warming is a lie

  • this guy is an agent for the Money Kings...so whatever he says DONT MEAN SHIT!!!

  • I admire you Sir Richard, you are a true mentor.

  • Interstin video

  • The most useful question ever, is

What is the underlying law of nature?

Be among the first to identify, understand and apply its answer. Why?

    1. It is the way of all things. (observable)

    2. It is the basis and absolute reference frame of the principles of thought, intelligence, communication and logic.

    3. It made possible the formulation of these four principles.

    4. Conscious use of these principles permit efficacy and efficiency to multiply in business.

    Google it, as a start.

  • Correct me if i am wrong... Isn't this guy the owner of airlines? Did he and all his cohorts get there on private jets. No footprint there! Now run out and text money to two presidents who systematically destabilized HAITI, buy something red, put a ribbon on the bumper, and go get a double skim soy late'. The future of our children looks safer now. Problem solved! is this carbon offsetting? I better stop cause I cant stop laughing!

  • @TheGriot2008 Air travel is a reality. People aren't going to stop travelling by air for the sake of climate change. Donating proceeds from his travel businesses is very beneficial to the cause. He also has a financial incentive to want to fight climate change. Fuel prices are about to escalate so the search for alternative energies will benefit the Virgin brand. Still, major industrialists like Branson getting involved is a great thing.

  • CLIMATE SCIENCE

    On the move:

Species face race against CLIMATE CHANGE

    Paris (AFP) Dec 23, 2009

Land ecosystems will have to move hundreds of metres each year in order to cope with global warming

...according to a letter published on Thursday in Nature, the British-based science journal.

  • iron man?

  • global warming!?

    pshsssst'....

  • There's more to environmental protection than global warming.

  • what about our oceans turning into deserts?

  • thanks, we did inherit a very beautiful world from our parents, and they from their parents...

  • Go Richard, you are a bright and shining light of leadership. Children need us to behave in the way you talk about, it's just so important. Thank you, you have restored my faith in humanity.

  • When talking to people on this scam, expose it by reminding people that Gore was VP & the Democrats worked with the Republicans to get NAFTA, GATT, & created WTO when Gore was VP. Just link Gore with the economic destruction of NAFTA & GATT with this GW scam

Remind people also the same media that is trying to sell us the GW swindle, sold us the NAFTA & GATT free trade nightmare with the People's Democracy of China massive HR & environmental abuses

  • Sir Richard Branson, we need your help to lead us out of this Financial Global Crisis.

  • One of the best ways to save the environment is to elect Officials that will focus on reducing immigration.

In America, nearly all the population growth in the last 40 years has been via immigration, over 100 million more and we are on track to go to 500 million in a few decades. The world does not need 300 million more American consumers and America does not need 300 million more immigrants. Go to Numbersusa for more info on immigration and to fax your senators for free.

  • Plant More Trees....Provide Oxygen For Tomorrows Children...Yours....

  • Richard Branson I believe is a good guy. But educated people!! look at the shape of the mic in front of him^???

  • the man has done well. he started with 0 shows what any man/woman can do if you devote your life to it. not many ppl would give away $3 billion dollars bravo

  • we need more people like Sir Richard Branson!

  • Very well said, it's not just inspiring what he has done with his life, but what he CHOOSES to do, especially with the money he has accumulated. There are plenty of billionaires in this world, not many would do this. Very sad fact. Go Richard. And I know there are plenty of us watching this, who, given the same financial status, would do the same..that thought makes me very happy and gives me hope. There are some beautiful people out there!

  • He is so beautiful! Richard Branson is one of my fantasies. *kiss* He and Bono will go well together in my body pillow collection! ;-)

  • Success makes people beautiful.

    Not looks.

That is rule number one and sadly many in the world haven't realized it.

  • If you have to fly with the option of virgin choose virgin if you care for the planet. Same with trains in the U.K

  • He didn't actually believe in global warming being caused by man until he worked out there was money in it.

He's such a great bloke,I wonder if all that is an act?

  • Thanks for the laugh, have a wonderful year.

I'm off to go plants some trees and other food.

I can't wait to see what you write on April Fools day.

  • Cheers :)

    Glad someone agrees.

You eat trees? what are you,a panda?

  • Hey, what happened. Your first comment was funny but this one wasn't.

In the future, please only write funny comments, unless you actually study the Global Warming / Climate Change yourself rather then just paroting things from people who don't have a clue about what's really going on.

I'm assuming I won't hear from you again, but who knows I've been wrong before.

    {Without trees where would we be?}

  • so long as it makes me smile that all that counts really.

We have the coldest winter for 25 years in the UK and there's blizzards in Spain.

I remember when i was a kid the papers used to talk about a new ice age.

    It's called weather .LOL :)

I wish we had a bit more global warming.

  • I'm hoping we will get away from the term Global Warming and replace it with Climate Change.

While our Planet is warming overall, and we have proff of melting glaciers ect... it doesn't mean that we won't have cold weather. We are going to have lots of crazy weather for a long time, but if you plants some trees, we might just make it. If you don't humanity will more then likely not make it.

It's up to you, choose wisely my new friend.

  • Look up sea level history.

How much higher and lower has the ocean been?

You believe we can make the earth have the sea level WE demand of it?

    THAT'S Anthropocentrism at it's best!!

  • Thank you for sharing this video.

  • It is, in my view, an enterprise as big as our conscientiousness. We must coherently become active. Not just in theory, but rather actively. And there's a lot to be done !

-Somehow it seems we don't have much time.

  • I would agree that it seems we don't have much time.

Some good news is we are or have reached critical mass in understanding this. Humanity has made a big Shift within the last two years.

We have brilliant minds creating solutions to our challenges. Millions of people are making changings in our daily actions and in our Hearts.

We will have the exponential Shift we need to have within the next five years in order for our world society to become sustainable again.

  • just another jew who was made rich to serve world jewry! the dumb shit is reading from a script!

Just watch him larn to skydive to see what true wally this douche bag really is!

  • It is not true that this generation is to blame for this outcome in the enviroment situation. In fact it began with the industrial revolution. Every new generation will only see it bigger, and bigger. And we must, of course do our best, to put an end to the problem.

    So mutch for Richard's wisdom.

  • You may want to listen to this video clip again. I think you misunderstood what he said.

"Our Generation has inherited an incredible beautiful world from our parents and they from their parents and it's really in our hands whether our children and their children inherit the same world, and we must not be the generation responsible for irreversible damaging the environment."

"We must hand it over to our children in as near pristine condition as we were lent it from our parents..."

  • The epitome of slime and hypocricy.A hero for a dumbed down culture.

  • Thanks for your opinion

Richard told everyone at this conference that he was a doubter about many of the challenges we face, just like you sound like you may be now.

The world is moving forward at a record pace with lots of wonderful changes happening already and lots more planned for the near future.

Not everyone needs to agree or be a part of the solution.

I trust you will join us in the next year or two, when you see and hear enough evidence that we must change or risk extinction.

  • Richard Branson owns one of the biggest airlines in the world and therefore is one of the worlds biggest polluters.

He boasts to run his virgin trains on biodiesel, but he mainly uses oil from palm plantations grown, at the expense of pristine forests, from the far east.

Richard Branson is a cunning, ruthless businessman bent on attaining wealth and power, a true wolf in sheeps clothing.

  • Thanks for your opinion.

I disagree with you on Richard being a wolf in sheeps clothing. I felt he was very sincere and genuine when I heard him at this conference.

Our world society is facing the greatest threat we have ever known, and while the answers aren't always easy and it isn't always known what is the best thing to do. There are millions of people who will be doing lots more in the next five years to Shift us to a sustainable future again.

  • Where did you get your infomation on Richard?

I see lots of people posting negative things about people, but when challenged they never give thier sources.

We will see if you are different then the rest.

  • No Virgin is not one of the biggest airlines, not even close, Virgin are going to be the first airline to run a 'green' engine, virgin trains are not a massive company either. I think you are a jelous nob. Just because someone has more money than you your jelous. Atleast richard knows he has earnt enough for him to have a great life, he is given the rest away basically for our children. I think your probably an America annoyed because your fellow Americans cant even be arsed to run on diesel.

  • richard is a fantastic man i am a successfull business man and if i ever met u rudyardthestranger i would punch u in the face

  • you are a total arsehole and probably have never had an original thought in your life.I hope your mother dies from cancer PAINFULLY.

  • isn't that a bit hypicritical considering that he owns one of the biggest airlines in the world?

  • this guy makes alan sugar owner of lego land

  • love

  • I agree with u MLBinwa!

  • There is no such thing as global warming, as such. As the brilliant Dr. Michael Savage so often says, these things are cyclical; one needs to look at the whole moving picture instead of just one snapshot.

After all, How does one account for at least seven Ice Ages that have come and gone?

  • GW is real. Most people know this. Do your own research into the hottest days on record within the last 150 years.

Nature does go in cycles but most know think we are having an impact and speeding things up.

Regardless, we can and must do many things differently because we are not sustainable as a world society for even 40 years.

The good news is many are waking up to this fact.

  • A 150 year scale?? You're not serious!

When Mount Saint Helens blew up, it put more crap in the air in one hour than all of mankind has done for the past 10,000 years! Do YOUR research.

The main problem concerning the human condition is that too many screwballs are allowed to drop out all the kids they want.

  • Hello Guy,

I used the 150 year figure since that's about how long scientists have been keeping records.

I have been doing full time research into Planetary Sustainability of which GW is a small part for me.

It's not easy as experts disagree, but most now say we are warming and most agree we are contributing.

I also study belief systems and I'm pretty sure your not going to change yours on GW anytime soon. Maybe in five or ten years you might.

  • Hey Guy,

Do you really think that some people having too many kids is the main problem for humanity today?

  • Yes, that's why I said it. The dumbest and most screwed up people are the ones crapping out the most kids, while the brightest, most balanced and decent ones are having the fewest.

I'm all for clean air and water, but that doesn't mean there's anything to this global warming. Al Gore is a modern day Chicken Little.

  • I'm glad your all for clean air and water.

We disagree on GW, but when we clean up and green up, while conserving energy and build our homes and businesses differently, we will reduce our part in GW anyway.

People having children is not a challenge to humanity for me. The way we grow or raise food for them is as well as not breast feeding them. Real education for them will also help.

  • You ought to rethink your position on people over-breeding. And that's because 99.99% of the social problems relate to it. Fix it and most of the other ills will disappear.

It always amazes me when I hear poor people with way too many kids whining because they're having troubles of all sorts. It's like when are responsible people going to tell these idiots point blank...

  • I have thought of over population before and I know there are many challeges with the growth of population.

I don't see the poor people as being the main reason we are not sustainable as a world population.

  • You've never been to a third world country or, apparently, had third worlders invade your community. Lucky you.

I'm also very poor (by U.S. standards) but I never brought a kid into this world and never will, as that's a sacred act that in my view should only be done by proper types of people.

Methinks it's time to tell the poor and stupid ... that this is 2008, and that we as world citizens expect better from them.

  • Hello Otis,

Actually I have been to third world countries.

My faith teaches me that the people you consider poor are the people I should Love and help the most.

So, helping people in third world countries is a goal of mine. Mainly Africa right now.

Some people you consider to be rich are actually destroying the world (or trying to) for all the rest of us.

I expect a big Shift towards sustainability in the next five years, more then most would dream possible.

  • I also help out the "poor" to the limited degree that I'm able to. Nevertheless, I don't see anything unkind or unreasonable to start getting the word out that they, the poor, ought to use their God-given commonsense and work towards doing things that are smart and fair.

If Gore gets his way and shuts down our economy with his GW hoax, don't you think the poor will suffer the most?

  • Glad to hear you help out the Poor.

Many poor people had lots of children, because they led a tough life just trying to get food and shelter for themselves.

Everyone has the ability to be more and to change, some just need more of a helping hand.

That which we do to the least of us we end up doing to us in the long run.

  • Your heart is in the right place but your head isn't. In the U.S. we have millions of leaches that have for generations done nothing but take our tax dollars and sit on their butts doing nothing but drinking, complaining, screwing and getting into trouble with the law.

They need to hear my message, not yours.

  • Some would say that there are people at the top who are taking more then their fare share as well.

The only real message is LOVE.

This is the only thing that can save humanity. That awareness is growing exponentially now and we will all see some great things happening as a result.

There is still a cleansing period, but Love is working it's magic.

  • I get a queasy feeling when I see people smiling too much and flinging the word love around.

Methinks you have your head in the clouds too much and that you'd do better to preach that people should get in touch with their God-given commonsense and apply reason to real, down to earth problems. We can save the love fest for later, when tangible progress has been made.

  • There are lots of people who are using their God-given commonsense and lots of wonderful things are happening.

It's just that Love is the key for all Spiritual and religious systems, because it's the only thing that's eternal.

For 2 billion Christians, they are commanded to Love thier neighbor as themselves, (not to mention Love their enemies) so it's not about having a love fest. Just doing what we are commanded to do.

    Have a great weekend!

  • If love is the "only thing that's eternal," then why are you so concerned about a little global warming? (If you global warming zealots get your way, there'll be a good chance that the world's economies will tank, causing millions more to needlessly starve.)

Thanks; you have a nice weekend, too.

  • Hey Otis,

I'm not as concerned with Global Warming as you think. I'm not a zealot. I was in international business before getting more into Nature and our environment.

I just know our world is not sustainable the way we are doing things many things and getting our energy, and the lack of understanding about our food quality.

Many businesses and people now know we can clean up, green up and make money and create jobs while moving towards sustainability again.

  • There is evidence for a millennium of greed with regards to Human behavior.

Consider- that as you sit back and complain about our shortcomings, you are not contributing to the solutions.

It is this resigned attitude which continues to add to an environment of ennui.

As long as people choose to remain disengaged and irresponsible- there will not be a better world for any future Homo Sapiens.

People like Richard Branson put their money where their mouth is.

  • For me GW is not a hoax, but I won't argue with people about it.

The main thing is we have limited resources, we have been polluting our environment and therfore ourselves, since we get our food from our environment.

We kill lots of people every year by how we get our energy.

We can and will do things differently soon, as our way is not sustainable or just.

    Humanity is waking up.

  • Not understanding your logic here.

  • What don't you understand?

  • This is an old video.

  • Regardless of how old you may think this video is, it's message is important and timeless.

The momentum for real change in our world is growing everyday because of people like Richard.

There is hope for a sustainable world again.

  • meatclown, its not a hoax because i can feel it geting warmer and i see all the fluds and huracanes hapening and its only the begining

  • A truly great man, thank you Sir Richard

  • what a fantastic man

  • Sir R. Branson, thanks, gentlemen in the name of all who haven't had the chance as yet to witness this humble act.

Shame that this kind of message doesn't get higher views & attention

  • Gosh hes awesome......hes my friend wendy's uncle

  • Definitely learned a lot from Richard Branson. Thanks.

  • The most brilliant man alive right now... what an unbelievable human being..

I'm jealous, not of the money, but of the wonderful idea that he encompasses

  • isaacpabat, why out him on pedastal where he is a hero and we are not? you can do amazing things, too..we can all make a difference in our own way. maybe your feeling of envy is there because deep down you know you can be making a difference too.

  • I totally agree!! As I live in the Netherlands, where calvinism and modesty is VERY common and being extraordinary and dreaming of incredible things isn't very 'tolerated'.. as if people have to live according to predefined patterns, it is hard for me, as an individual who thinks there are no boundaries, to pursue my dreams!!

  • Hi richard i have always wanted to meet you.
