The bully brought some of his buddies, but rivers was to afraid to go and help. Its on the alone tapes, you should but them. The hard copy though, it go a really informitive book in it.

This song is about when rivers never stepped in to help his brother when he was in a fight at school because he was scared. For people to say it's "superficial at best" is such a dumb comment. If it's a confession/apology to his brother he needed to say it in the simplest way. you can only confess superficially. This ain't as good as the electric one on alone2 though.

while i will admit that it is nice to see rivers at least attempting to lend some emotional credibility to his lyrics after a long, emotional abyss, the fact remains that this song and the so-called confession within it are superficial at best.

that's debatable, but even if i were to grant you that, certainly some songs are more superficial than others. for instance, most of the songs off pinkerton and many off blue had a fair amount of emotional honesty contained within them. this, like most of what rivers has composed since then, does not.

yeah I'm a Sirius subscriber and the merger kinda annoyed me too since they changed things around.. I hate change lol. but maybe they'll bring back that station you mentioned -- they got rid of a few Sirius stations too and I know they brought back at least 2 due to people being unhappy about it. I just happened to catch him on Fresh Air, too. Hearing the story behind this song made my cry. And when he talked about how he came up with "Pink Triangle" --I would say he showed a lot of humility in that interview. It would be hard for me to see him as arrogant. If anything he didn't seem afraid to reveal some of his insecurities.
