Everyone says that this version is really, really bad. But, I don't think so. Sure, I would have liked to have seen more convincing acting from the main character and a hell-of-a-lot more ape culture and how they truly dealt with humans (other than chasing them around) but, on the whole, it wasn't terrible - and the main villain was pretty badass!.
The only thing I didn't like about this remake was the ending. The whole idea of another planet that Humans and other great apes are evolving was a great idea in my opinion.
@MrEroticWalrus I agree. But I learned that there is a planned sequel to Rise of The Planet of The Apes which will apparently develop on what we saw last year.
@MrEroticWalrus yea but remember there was a spaceship that went to mars or w/e? maybe its just me but it seems like this movie is like a sequel to the 2011 movie. you know what i'm trying to say? lol
@isitomorrowyet some parts fit. Like the part witht he apes ^^ . lol but the part where they said that the space ship is lost in space, and the ship being named Icarus kinda foreshadows the future of the story arc in the past movies. Icarus as in the boy whos father made wings for him to fly and come fell back to earth.
@Josh54152 lol this movie sucked compared to rise... this was just a silly remake, while rise is a reboot where they actually try to make something new
@LegendaryMusicFreak I disagree. I thought the 2001 remake was bad but once I saw rise, it made this movie look really good. In this version, there is a story to tell, there is a plot and some twists. Rise was bad, the apes so obvisouly computer generated and the commercial alone summarises the entire movie.
Man I rewatched Tim Burton's 2001 version and I actually like that movie now.
@YouSoundBored Don't bother - life is too short. I found this alleged remake elsewhere and could stand watching it no longer after the first third, but read up on it instead on the IMDb to confirm my very poor opinion. Apparently it gets more absurd as you approach the end. It could never have equalled the original but this is an insult to its memory, despite Tim Burton's undoubted talents. Mark Wahlberg, a reasonably competent action movie hero, is like a naughty schoolboy here. RIP Charlton.
I thought the first 2/3 of this was decent, it had it's moments I was enjoying it for what it was. However the last third was forced, lazy and a bloody mess of bland cliche after cliche. I understand the reason for the stupid ending, they needed a suprise twist; but it could have been done alot better.
i realy realy like the the film; rise of the planet of the apes, nd i just want to know this, does it realy happen ever in history. as the film looks like ? wish you all the best from pakistan.
@meganerd14 The original "Planet of the Apes" had depth and actually had a point that left you wondering "Wow that was awesome". This one was just spectacle that left you wondering "What just happened?"
@meganerd14 If I could ever do a random complete stranger a favor, now is the time..
Please my friend, avoid this shit fucking piece of crap planet of shit movie fuckin crap. It sucked so badddddddddddddd. Go see the new rise of planet of the apes, it was so awesome!
@HarryNguyenify2503 solid comeback. .......tim burton fan......fail. haha honestly though he has a few cool films... but not really this one. This one is another crazy off vision of a legendary film. Not gonna lie, some of his other stuff is kinda gay. As gay as the rubber nipples he gave batman in the batman series he produced
@yodudemaze That was Joel Schumacher directing Batman & Robin with the costume nipples. Tim Burton directed Batman and Batman Returns, there were no nipples there.
@rhonethesilver ok sorry. didnt direct, produced. and your kiddin me, google batman forever pics and look at em. your telling me those are really robins nips??

Rise of the Apes was misleading. It was more like Ape Escape. Then explaining in last 10 seconds how they took over, virus killed everyone :\
