Everyone says that this version is really, really bad. But, I don't think so. Sure, I would have liked to have seen more convincing acting from the main character and a hell-of-a-lot more ape culture and how they truly dealt with humans (other than chasing them around) but, on the whole, it wasn't terrible - and the main villain was pretty badass!.

The only thing I didn't like about this remake was the ending. The whole idea of another planet that Humans and other great apes are evolving was a great idea in my opinion.

Like the part witht he apes ^^ . lol but the part where they said that the space ship is lost in space, and the ship being named Icarus kinda foreshadows the future of the story arc in the past movies. Icarus as in the boy whos father made wings for him to fly and come fell back to earth.

@LegendaryMusicFreak I disagree. I thought the 2001 remake was bad but once I saw rise, it made this movie look really good. In this version, there is a story to tell, there is a plot and some twists. Rise was bad, the apes so obvisouly computer generated and the commercial alone summarises the entire movie.

Man I rewatched Tim Burton's 2001 version and I actually like that movie now.

@YouSoundBored Don't bother - life is too short. I found this alleged remake elsewhere and could stand watching it no longer after the first third, but read up on it instead on the IMDb to confirm my very poor opinion. Apparently it gets more absurd as you approach the end. It could never have equalled the original but this is an insult to its memory, despite Tim Burton's undoubted talents. Mark Wahlberg, a reasonably competent action movie hero, is like a naughty schoolboy here. RIP Charlton.

I thought the first 2/3 of this was decent, it had it's moments I was enjoying it for what it was. However the last third was forced, lazy and a bloody mess of bland cliche after cliche. I understand the reason for the stupid ending, they needed a suprise twist; but it could have been done alot better.
