Matt said in an interview that he wrote this at a time in his life where he was out of sorts and lost after losing a woman (the same one from the Night Opus), who he knew he'd never be with. The lyrics were written at a BBQ and later he realized he had music that would fit. I think it's about appreciating something or someone even if it'll never be yours.

By Uniform he means constant; unvarying; undeviating, without variations in detail. so in an easy to understand verse i came up with just for you "No matter what happens you are still pretty". Hope that helps.

Since im failing to find a deeper meaning it looks like its about a girl he feels like he is out of place with. "i'm the creature in your sick thing

everybody sees a giant" also the girl is having a hard time with W/e and it doesnt change his opinion of her and he believes all the stuff she is going threw will lead to "A better happier you" that what doesnt kill you kind of deal.

Education these days :( The word "uniform" isn't restricted to articles of clothing. If something is "uniformly purple" it is all purple. If you refer to something as "uniformly beautiful" then everything about it is beautiful. He's playing on words a little, saying how her "beautiful" is everything.

I saw Matt Good perform this live back in 2001! OMG what a fabulous memory. Let me tell you that he sounds just this good live as well as on disc. I think I am still in love.

Late one night a few years ago in Munich I returned home and switched on viva2 which was broadcasting an interview with the Matthew Good Band. I heard roughly 1 minute of 'Hello Time Bomb' and that was enough for me to buy 'Beautiful Midnight' the very next day. This is a perfect album. There is nothing to criticize on it and though I am hard pressed to name my favorite I must say over the years 'Giant' is the one song I always return to. I envy Matthew Good his lyrical talent.

I also think the album is very underrated. Its a good solid record that will stand the test of time. Its not the kind of music that you will find yourself ashamed to have listened to in ten years.
