basically a virtual machine lets you have an imaginary drive with another o.s. in your actual boot drive running mac os or windows. Its the same idea with virtual disk sofwares that helps you run a program without needing the actual cd inserted. When virtual machines are used, it provides you easy accessibility with all the application and whole environment of another os within that virtual drive, but it shares the physical resources with the actual boot drive such as memory and storage

Did you mean "can I run the bootcamp partition IN vmware?" From what I remember from parallells, you can do that, so I guess vmware would be able to do it as well. However you can not go the other way around, ie you can't set up a virtual machine and then boot to it.

Vitual Box by Sun is my favourite Virtual Machine. It's fantastic for 2 reasons 1) it is Free & 2) it is better than parallels.

I have Windows 7 test version in Virtual Box and it is fantastic. It is an ISO File.
