  • En tout cas une chose est sûre, la chanson n'est pas inspirée par le patron du Mistral dans Plus belle la vie

  • This song has a pretty rad name. B-)

  • I think this song is about a keyboard, or a certain famous retired pro baseball pitcher with a certain handlebar mustache

  • Dont give a damn what everyone else says. House of Wax is a good movie. One of my favorites if we're being all the way honest

  • I wonder if he wrote this about the Roland in Stephen KIng's dark tower series....

  • @jimmywink1993 The song is about Aaron Kozminski. A Polish butcher suspected of being Jack the Ripper. The song is most likely a metaphor for Paul Bank's dark side, which he has decided to disguise as Jack the Ripper. The character is "growing on him". The title of the song might also be an amalgamation of "Ripper" and "Poland". Also, it's said that the real Jack the Ripper used to ask people for the time. As the song says, "He always took the time".

  • My dad's first name is Roland :P

  • There is suggestion that song is about Aaron Kosminski, Jack the Ripper prime suspect.

  • HOUSE OF WAX

  • greatest intro ever

  • why can't this song just keep going and going gosh.

  • house of wax song fuk yes! amazing movie amazing song!

  • @xlesliesliar3 well i liked it alot just cuz i liked the story and the characters minus paris hilton lol and the creepyness to it and the soundtrack of course. i duno just my thoughts about it.

  • aaawww, sounds like Paul had a bromance with Roland hahaha, awesome song, I love Interpol

  • Simplemente Interpol.

  • Simplemente Interpol.

  • Simplemente Interpol.

  • My best Friend is Roland and hes From Poland!

  • nah, I think the EP version is better, his voice voice isn't all distorted, it's simpler, but better!

  • @tappuzzo05

That's why I like it, because of the vocals with effects, and also the music/guitar in this version has a sensational, cold atmospheric sound that I prefer

  • Amazing intro, simple but put to great effect.

  • Ths is the *best* version of this song

  • My best friend's from Poland and, um, he has a beard...

    ...iwish myfriends had beards:)

  • @xXLiZxGuTiErRezXx I know what you mean...beards are so awsome...

    R.I.P Roland ;-;

  • @Hakudohshi for realll?

  • aha 8 blow jobs:D

  • @TheTaiyakiGuy ... completely agree, and I've been listening to music for many, many years. Wish I'd found Interpol earlier !

  • Great song!!!

  • dammit dengler! why! jesus......

  • The most epic part of the song 0:00 to 3:38

  • 3:00 = EPICNESS

  • GENIALES :D woooooooooooo

  • @EmMaNuELLSuMmErS1L Gentials, what? ?_?

  • I rarley listen to the radio because most of it sucks lol. But, I did find a station that has alot of good music on it, 103.9. It's alternative/rock...but the good kind, not this mainstream "rock" people listen to now. Also, I found a british radio station.. I was quite surprised.. its like 102.7 or something.. it actually had Muse and Bloc Party :D

  • what city are you from?

  • @isolationeitheror A small town in Massachusetts lol

  • @xmusicxbabyx93 Where in MA?

  • @JennVOGUE Dalton

  • @xmusicxbabyx93 Ahh. THat's what's up.

I'm in Springfield. Where is Dalton around?

  • @JennVOGUE coool...western MA

  • oh, because i wasnt sure if you were talking about local stations or possibly just streaming stuff on the internet

  • @xmusicxbabyx93 MUSE and BLOC PARTY. I love you.

  • @sinshyft117 hahaha, and yes Muse AND Bloc Party :D

  • OH LOOK! IT STOPPED SNOWING

  • this really reminds me of Shadowplay by Joy Division :)

  • @Dragy2005 yes! whether or not interpol will admit it they are heavily influenced i

  • @Dragy2005 I've never seen this. And I love both bands greatly.

  • ...me gusta este disco, aunque recuerde al finado Ian Curtis, creo que es una banda que vale tener en tu cdteca......

  • interpol es la mejor banda y no hay nadie quien lo nieje

  • agreed, interpol very good band! I wish they would play them more on the radio in dallas!

  • @blkm383 i know right! dallas radio is like 40% spanish music, 40% country, 15% rap music, 4% commercial crap, and 1% good music. I listen to 102.1 and 92.3.. but they still aren't the best. know any other good stations here?

  • Instrumentals are nice, but I can't get past the vocals...

  • 3 fav songs off 1st album, Obstacle 1, Roland and PDA. Hands Away and Obstacle 2 are really good too. Such a good album.

  • Really good! I love these guys now. Thanks to the Australian guy who showed me them hahaha

  • wow when i first heard this i thought it seriously was joy division...the guitar...the vocals...its quite amazingf...thank god for interpol...saving music one album at a time

  • Fantastic that the music moves oneself like that. When this gives you chills you're knowing the Gems in music. It's in one's blood. A gift. I'm getting chills right now from this song. At 55 years old even! Love this sound. Interpol is a favorite of mine.

  • Este video me recuerda al concierto. Guadalajara, octubre de 2005

  • interpols insturmental breakdowns are by far the best and most amazing sounding. especially in this and PDA

  • I was thinking the exact same thing.....the breakdowns in Roland and PDA are simply amazing. Listen to it 1000 times and still get chills.

  • interpol and a band to be heard over a drink and chatting with friends! not have anything better

  • grandiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii italy

  • Saw them live a couple of years... Sounded just like they did in the studio. AMAZING show. Front row and I even went home with a used drumstick that was handed to me ^.^

  • woah lucky haha

  • That's another thing that makes Interpol great and unique. They sound GREAT live, while a lot of bands sound great in the studio but are less satisfactory live.

  • i love how carlos dresses and the rest of the band too.

  • Arrriiibbaaaa Interpol un grupo serio por fin ..... definido . no como esas mierdas de ahora .

  • @ricki25life

    otros tiempos

    otras mierdas

  • f*cking great

  • great song . can't wait to see them LIVE again ! = ]

  • Wat? r there any more tours planned?

  • i have see tham here in argentina they kick ass man ....

  • c'mon now pussycat my best friend's a butcher, he has sixteen knives he carries them all over the town at least he tries oh look it stopped snowing my best friend's from Poland and um, he has a beard but they caught him with his case in a public place that is what we had feared he severed segments secretly you like that he always had the time to speak with me I liked him for that he severed segments so secretly, you like that he was growing on me he was growing on me
  • Perhaps it was recently exposed and that was what he was referring to in the line about being caught 'in a public place.' Another possible bit of evidence for my hypothesis is the song title 'Roland' is a probable amalgamation of 'Ripper' and 'Poland." Regardless, this song is in some way about the man most consider was the real Jack the Ripper and how this personification of evil dwells in Banks as well

  • haha you really think he thought about it that deeply?

  • yes...alot of depth goes into songwriting espescially from great bands like interpol. if your listening to this type of music i would like to think that this would be obvious to you?

  • i guess so. i mean people say its good song writing and all, and thats great, but in the end all that matters is if the song sounds good and makes me want to listen to it again. like i usually interpret songs by how they make me feel, and like what memories or ideas come up in my mind from them. even when the song isnt actually about what i attach it to be usually

  • This song about Aaron Kozminski a Polish butcher suspected of being Jack the Ripper. The reference to a Polish man who is a butcher who carries knives and likes to cut people up is pretty damn specific, likely too specific to be a complete fabrication. The song is likely a giant metaphor for the songwriter's inner dark side, which he has decided to personify in the form of Jack the Ripper. Banks hems and haws secretely liking it and how it grows on him.

  • @mikescrap121

Oh come on you have copy and pasted this straight from a forum discussing Interpol lyrics i have just been reading it and have checked it. It's the same word for word.

How small do you feel now.....

  • @ratty860997

i never claimed that what i wrote was my idea i just wanted to share it because i felt it was so spot on, so to you i say....music...why has it become such a competion, sport?

  • @mikescrap121 Has it? In your eyes maybe.

  • they put " oh look it stopped snowing" because they wanted to make the lyrics into present tense, not because they ran outa things to say. The lyrics is paul banks speakin to his friend about another friend who was a criminal, so when he says oh look it stopped snowin, its just there to make the dialoge clear that paul is having a conversation with someoneelse, look at it again and u"l see what i mean

  • i like how goes off talking about the snow

  • yeah it's sounds so random.

  • where did you get all that info on these lyrics?

  • It's my honest opinion that people who complain about how badly modern music sucks have never listened to Interpol.

  • @TheTaiyakiGuy Mhm.

  • @TheTaiyakiGuy So well said.

  • @TheTaiyakiGuy A friend of mine said people that complain about modern music are too lazy to look for it. This is %100 true.

  • @TheTaiyakiGuy

This is more like alt-retro music, but it is indeed the sound I prefer; Interpol, they do it well

  • @TheTaiyakiGuy or arcade fire

  • The bass player, while appearing to be a very dorky-looking individual, is a very good musician.

  • Hahah Carlos is so "fuck this shit" most of the time... I love him. <3

  • @aljanadcob Heh, never thought of him as dorky looking. When I first saw the music video for Obstacle 1 (my first Interpol song) the first thing that stood out was that guy. He looks just like Crispin Glover! ( plays the young George McFly, father of Marty McFly, in back to the future II)

  • TOTBL is the best album in the world!

  • the start reminds me of this modern love by bloc party

    both great songs

  • Joy Division influenced: Editors, The Killers, Interpol, and She Wants Revenge.

    Is this true?

  • And a lot of other bands haha.

  • Well, probably not Interpol since they always get asked about the joy division connection and they say no.

  • its obvious that they do tho

  • @TheUnremarkableMe Yes it's true.

  • great song stuck in my head for months drove everybody else crazy with it :]

  • yeah¡¡

    esta cancion

es la mas parecida al estilo

    joy diviSion

    es bueno

    oir eso

  • I love this track

  • this song is soooooooo good! the intro kinda reminds me of bloc party's this modern love.

  • My friend's from Poland and uhmm he has a beard

  • All their albums rock.

  • Oh look, it stopped snowing!

  • this better be in GH world tour or RB 2

  • they better have this in Guitar Hero world tour

  • Your right, its like apples and oranged. But if you were suggesting the arctic monkeys are worse than interpol you can just gtfo

  • you'll be super tired after playing along with song, the MAIN GUITAR...^_^ Enjoy!

  • This song is awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • Cheese potatoes

  • please don't put the artic monkeys and the killers in the same league as interpol. they are good, but not comparable!

  • Interpol tends to be an acquired taste

  • but once acquired everything suddenly becomes wonderful and you REALLY appreaciate what they do.

  • Very true, I remember not liking them at first. . .

    x]

  • thank you im into black flag blah blah and i find interpol to be great.

  • it does actually sound like shadow play. but its still ace!

  • does anyone think this sounds like shadowplay by Joy Division?

  • i see what your saying

  • no, kill yourself.

  • No.

    Plan and simple.

  • You can compare the two styles, you can also compare the voices of Ian Curtis and Paul Banks. This band has been inspired by joy division.

  • Absolutly one of my favorite band, and songs :)

  • Simply outstanding, up there with Joy Division/New Order and other Post-Punk Icons, will survive just like them

  • listen to Automatic-Whats that coming over the hill?

  • I like Automatic

  • the end is the best part to play

    13131313121212151515151212111111113121312 YEAH!

  • i can play this whole song...i wanna cry MEEP* yeah i did it, definetly worth the 3:37 of my life :)

  • only INTERPOL

  • brilliant

  • great track thanks a lot
