All I'm saying is that if you want a 1200rwhp DD, then bigger is the only way to go. You aren't going to get 1200rwhp from a 2.0L on pump gas nor are you going to get 2000rwhp+ from a v4. You can get fast imports running high octane, high boost engines, but you can't beat a pump gas low boost viper running 900rwhp+. In the game of horsepower, the bigger the better.

The funny thing is fords 4.0L v6 made like 2 more hp than a civic si's inline 4 with half the displacement. The new mustang v6 has 305hp but its far behind other cars with v6's that have 300hp or more like the 300zx,350z,370z,g35,g37,sti,gtr,evo,and more. All these cars have been out and they are imports with 300hp+.. A v6 350z/370z has more hp than a v8 mustang. ford sucks

Well oviously i didn't pick either of the two since i have a twin turbo 300zx. But if i had to pick i'd probably go with the civic si over this mustang. It is lighter and quicker. All the buzz about power and torque go out the window when the mustang still loses.Mustang fans need to get their heads out of their asses. @turbonegro1120 The 302 was never really met to be a high horsepower engine, instead it was supposed to have a lot of tourque which it did. At the same time though there were a ton of simple modification that you could do to basically free up horsepower, like a intake swap, or ported heads. I've literally spent around 3000 dollars and my 91 mustang has 350 to the wheels.
@coandc yeah old 302's are great because there so cheap to build. a friend of mine has gt40 heads, b303 cam, edelbrock intake, 4.10 gears, longtubes, and the car is pretty much gutted on the inside. lays down a little under 300rwhp but still runs mid 12's im pretty sure. he has done all the work on his car himself and he got the parts for pretty cheap. i think he said he hes gotten everything he has for about $700-$800.
@turbonegro1120 Yeah exactly my point. There a great value, an old 5.0 musang can be 2000 bucks, throw in another 7 or 800 bucks and you can have a pretty quck car. Granted it's older so you'll have all sorts of problems upgrading certain things and ignoring other (like I have) but ultimately it's an awesome value.

Like the newer 200hp civic si and the mustang v6's every year until of course the newest generation. And the gt's 05+ except the 5.0. Honda has 2.0L inline 4 with 200hp. The mustang had a 4.6L v8 and only made about 300hp. The honda has 100hp for each liter while the mustang only 65hp per rliter. The honda will last longer and gets better gas mileage. Im by no means a civic fan myself tho. I just think they are efficient and long lasting cars.

With that type of power to weight ratio larger heavier engines could be smaller and still have the same power making it lighter and quicker.

Yeah fwd does blow. I have a video of my 350z vs my friends altima coupe. The two cars are both stock and both have the same engine. The only big difference is the fact that the altima is fwd and the Z is rwd.

The non nismo Z does pulls 1.01 g's while the v6 and gt only managed .93 g's. 0-60 is 4.9 for a 370z while it is 5.8 for a v6 mustang. 60-0 in a 370z is 99 feet and it is 110 in both v6 and gt mustang. And no one buying these cars cares too much about gas when you are buying a sports car... If you're worried about gas buy a prius. 2011 lighting? Why would that even matter? Its not even in the same price range and i doubt it would best a Z around a track.

I own a 2010 GT and had a Civic SI pull up next to me wanting to race. I rolled the window down and said "are you f;ing serious"? I said I can split to 60 in a little under 5 as I have K&N filter and gears. HE said your car is a piece of shit and he can take it. There were reliability issues with Ford tranny's that were built in Mexico about 10-12 years ago. Every single model Ford were blowing tranny's and that's where this rumor came from. It's the same thing as Toyotas and what is happening now. The reputation will be damaged for a decade.
Current model Fords are one of the most reliable on the road right now. I own a 07 Mustang nothing, nada wrong with it. Oil changes and that's it.

@AviaMarine Yes that's part of the equation but not all of it. Torque curves, tires, areo, etc play parts of these races. All I'm saying is that if you want a 1200rwhp DD, then bigger is the only way to go. I'd rather have a 1200rwhp lambo that will run low 9's trapping 160-170 in the 1/4 mile with street tires that I can drive around in rather than a shit box honda or other overplayed imports that wish they could do the same. Anyone can make a drag car, but wheres the 2000rwhp+ 6 sec civics

@AviaMarine Not actually true, but I see where you are going with that statement. You should restate that it's all about the money to a certain point. You aren't going to get 1200rwhp from a 2.0L on pump gas nor are you going to get 2000rwhp+ from a v4. You can get fast imports running high octane, high boost engines, but you can't beat a pump gas low boost viper running 900rwhp+. In the game of horsepower, the bigger the better.

it doesn't matter if its the base model of not. It still have a v6 while the civic only gets an inline 4. The funny thing is fords 4.0L v6 made like 2 more hp than a civic si's inline 4 with half the displacement. The new mustang v6 has 305hp but its far behind other cars with v6's that have 300hp or more like the 300zx,350z,370z,g35,g37,sti,gtr,evo,and more. All these cars have been out and they are imports with 300hp+.. A v6 350z/370z has more hp than a v8 mustang. ford sucks

@turbonegro1120 The 302 was never really met to be a high horsepower engine, instead it was supposed to have a lot of tourque which it did. At the same time though there were a ton of simple modification that you could do to basically free up horsepower, like a intake swap, or ported heads. I've literally spent around 3000 dollars and my 91 mustang has 350 to the wheels.

@coandc yeah old 302's are great because there so cheap to build. a friend of mine has gt40 heads, b303 cam, edelbrock intake, 4.10 gears, longtubes, and the car is pretty much gutted on the inside. lays down a little under 300rwhp but still runs mid 12's im pretty sure. he has done all the work on his car himself and he got the parts for pretty cheap. i think he said he hes gotten everything he has for about $700-$800.

Like the newer 200hp civic si and the mustang v6's every year until of course the newest generation. And the gt's 05+ except the 5.0. Honda has 2.0L inline 4 with 200hp. The mustang had a 4.6L v8 and only made about 300hp. The honda has 100hp for each liter while the mustang only 65hp per rliter. The honda will last longer and gets better gas mileage. Im by no means a civic fan myself tho. I just think they are efficient and long lasting cars.

With that type of power to weight ratio larger heavier engines could be smaller and still have the same power making it lighter and quicker.

The non nismo Z does pulls 1.01 g's while the v6 and gt only managed .93 g's. 0-60 is 4.9 for a 370z while it is 5.8 for a v6 mustang. 60-0 in a 370z is 99 feet and it is 110 in both v6 and gt mustang. And no one buying these cars cares too much about gas when you are buying a sports car... If you're worried about gas buy a prius. 2011 lighting? Why would that even matter? Its not even in the same price range and i doubt it would best a Z around a track.

There were reliability issues with Ford tranny's that were built in Mexico about 10-12 years ago. Every single model Ford were blowing tranny's and that's where this rumor came from. It's the same thing as Toyotas and what is happening now. The reputation will be damaged for a decade.
Current model Fords are one of the most reliable on the road right now. I own a 07 Mustang nothing, nada wrong with it. Oil changes and that's it.

i have a 2006 acura rsx base 2.0l 155hp that is 100% stock that will stay with a 5.0l foxbody mustang that is 100% so what do you v8 people have to say about that and some hondas that are built all motor no turbos can do 10s on the 1/4th but for the price of a mustang gt you can buy a honda civic and build it faster for the same price and it will last over 100,000

@mecamoca i beat an 06 RSX in my old crappy Mazda 6S....bad....and that car doesn't come CLOSE to the speed of a 5.0 Fox Stang, sorry man have to disagree with you on that one. Plus everyone knows the 4.6L is built like a tank, can go over 100k easy with no issues, Im not a Honda hater by any means, anyone who takes the time to do the car up RIGHT deserves props, but the ones i hate are the ones with the TWA wing on the back, with the stickers and the fart cannon on the back,

You know there are pleny of rice cars that will smoke everything in sight but with all that boost on those small engines they will not last, so Get an american v8 rite off the start and you will have something:-) COBRA or SS it's all good.

@alexyikes00 Civics are build and designed for comfortable daily driving and economic commuting.... Mustangs are built more for power/thrill... WHY BOTHER comparing or bashing the 2?? Goes BOTH ways... Don't bash them because they turned a commuting car into a track-car... And Civic drivers... Why not just BUY A BETTER CAR??? Instead of blowing money into it?? The faster the car is to BEGIN with.. The LESS you will have to put into it.... Simple as that..

@goodwood7590 How is that bias? I understand the thrill, and pirde in truley building a car for the tracks.. Something to take down anything you come up on.. But that's different.. That's an entire build.. My "Buy a fast car" comment, was more for the dail drivers you see who just moderately mod-out there Civi's.... No hate to honda.. I had a Civic myself, and LOVED it.... But, I then bought a 4.4 V8 Beemer... And now I know the difference :)
