  • What an insanely hot and intelligent man.Love him/them and all of my great childhood memories that their music conjurs up.First I've seen of that tree.Love it.Very innovative and brave.:)

  • sick tree coming out of his ass

    fail

  • I think Morrissey's dancing may well have inspired Stephen Fry's "dancersising" sketch...

  • At 01:47 Andy looks at Morrissey's dancing and laughs. I love this guys.

  • Morrisey using a hands-free in the 80's while the yuppies tank around the place with their fuckin' bricks?

Ahead of his time as usual!

    PEACE

  • In my life

Why do I give valuable time

To people who don't care if I live or die ?

  • TOTP shit. They are bored silly.

  • KARENANNESCORPIO This is the key song in the soundtrack to life. At least in my head. i was a mid 70s kid and as a teen in the 80s The Smiths understood me in a way few bands have managed to this day

  • KARENANNESCORPIO This is the key song in the soundtrack to life. At least in my head

  • this was my smiths epiphany back in the day..

  • The best title for a song

  • He looks like a beautiful peacock....just standing on the stage preening his feathers.

  • such hilarious lyrics.

    love it !

  • @amazonaaaa I agree! LOL

  • I love this. I do.

  • Morrisey fucking loves his ipod...

  • Love this song! It sums up the story of my life, I've pissed my life up the wall and I'm female btw.

  • Oh my God, how good is Marr? I know everyone keeps saying it but that riff...jesus, how can you not do a little jig to it, miserable or not?

  • Amazing lyrics!

  • @jrod1112 *Beer* je

  • @jrod1112 *Hugh*

  • Morrisey te amo, Morrisey i love you,Morrisey lo es todo y todo lo es Morrisey

  • Morrisey and his homoerotic charm

  • heaven knows i was miserable before i listened to this. heaven knows im no longer miserable!! :D

  • I hate myself

  • @cuauthemocb ...and want to die

  • @edge2210 you too?

  • the song that always makes me cry

  • se supone q morrissey quiso implantar una moda algo asi como ecologiçsta pucha por eso se puso el arbusto alli en el bolsillo pero igual esta song es d la ptm

  • when this first aired on tv that Mar solo at the begining the coolest shit you had seen on tv ever

  • What she asked of me at the end of day, Caligula would have blushed... "You've been in this house too long" and he had naturally fled, indeed. I still support that this might be depressive, but not egocentric.

  • goooooooooooooooooooooood

  • Morrisey's got a rather large shrub growing form his back pocket, Song's bloody fantastic . long live Morrisey

  • superb.

  • Is it true that vatos and latinos all really love morrissey?

  • Morrissey is so cool. Who can dance like that and still be so cool and respected!? Noone but Morrissey. He's such a unique individual in every way.

  • Sublime.

  • Two lovers intertwined pass me by, and heaven knows im miserable now...

  • SO True

  • Lov ya Moz!!!

  • to be 100% real.Morissey lyrics are up there with 2pac in my mind.I remember these words from high scool.

  • @underground4days:

Oh my word! That you could even think of putting a much loved singing poet in the same hallowed bracket as a dead and not very bright or talented gangster who ended up being dispised!

Its only my opinion but I know I'm right.

And those who don't like my opinion - go fuck!

  • The Smiths made some of the best music of their generation. its too bad the music industry was too busy propping up less talented acts to make money, when REAL ARTISTS like the Smiths weren't recognized. this song is timeless and classic from the vocal, lyrics and musical performance and arrangement....the bass and guitar are KILLER!!

  • @khoury1600 you rocks

  • @khoury1600, well said, its sad that bands like this are so underrated. my parents always listened to this stuff and i was born in 86 so i grew up on it. i became a musician because of hearing this stuff..

  • @khoury1600 it's why people know who madonna is and not kate bush.

  • I could cry at such beauty.

  • Beautifull youth...never to return....

  • jjajajajajajaa pregunta mas cojuda ,es la onda new wave ps man es la onda y este año q venga morrisssey a LIMA and he isn´t gay he is a fucking rocker I LOVE THE SMITHS

  • porque morrissey tiene esa rama de hojas en el culo

  • @Amigozancho

jajjaajajaja...que bueno, es como un simbolo, tomalo como quieras pero respeta a este genio

  • the smiths muito bom !!

    I love song !!

  • Johnny Marr is one of the most under-rated guitarists ever. I can't say I like hearing Morrissey's voice all the time (always liked the lyrics - it was his vocal stylings that just got stale) but the tunes man, the tunes. Those guys could definitely write em.

  • BEST song for a shitty miserable day....JM's guitar sounds like wind chimes and Rorukey's bass is hauntingly beautiful....but heaven knows I'm miserable now!!!

  • @karziflora 1:46 TO 1:55 THEY BOTH SEE IN A MINISIDERAL SPACE OF LOVE....WAUU!!!!

  • i love it !! 4ever !!! the best !!

  • Que saudades

  • Haha I saw this episode of Top of the Pops when it first aired...

I was about 14 or 15. I remember thinking "who's the stupid twat with the flowers and the hearing aid". What the hell did I know. Great band.

  • Obviously you know a lot about being a bullying prick. But let's get 2 things straight. First, I was there and you are just a child so you know nothing. If you are older than that then you should be ashamed of yourself for being too impulsive to read the whole message before you reply. The stupid twat is you. Second, how the hell does this count as bullying? You need a dictionary.

  • Comment removed

  • Chill out mate. All you want to do is let the world know that you attended Top of the Pops. I'm 18 years old, just because i wasn't alive whilst The Smiths were active does this make them any less relevant? I feel this way now, if you don't then you've forgotten youth. x

  • so romantic ! hahaha...I just love it.

  • My favorite Moz moment is at approximately 1:09-1:13

  • I found an old video cassette of the Smiths Vol.1 in a bunch of crap my friend left at my house, Once I saw this... It was True Love from then, on... 2002

  • Ha, such a good song. Love this video, it is on The Smiths dvd. You got Marr with his sweet sunglasses, and Morrissey doing his thing with his signature flowers in his back pocket. This vid is simply, The Smiths... Plus, this song can describe how a lot of people have felt many times before. *sigh* Oh, the things I would do to see The Smiths reunite and go on tour.

  • This song...I mean this band should be on Guitar Hero, I know some fans are like OMG! Mainstream, but I like them. I wish to have them featured on GH.

  • @djfAllbACK yeah man they should be the final level. Marr's guitar flourishes are take a lot of practice.

  • And isn't his 'gayness' just so refreshing and real. It's HEAVENLY THANKS!

  • yeah, that's what I thought (in 1985) when my super hot Swedish girlfriend told me this was her FAVORITE band...the big (inside joke) is that Morrissey is, in fact, NOT Gay. OMFG. a straight dude pretending to be qweer. I really love these guy's music. I'm a just a bassist that likes good musicanship. Morrissey and Johnny Marr were pure musicans creating ORIGINAL music. I love that!

  • Can someone explain what he meant by ''What she asked of me at the end of the day

    Caligula would have blushed

"oh, you've been in the house too long" she said

    And i (naturally) fled'' ??

  • Caligula (Roman Emperor) was believed to be a sexual pervert as well as other things! "She" was probably asking for some sort of sexual gratification. Maybe/maybe not who knows!!!!!!

  • Makes sense, than she's revenging by indirectly throwing him out of the house...I guess. Anyways thanks :))

  • ROURKEY!!!

  • Johnny Marr - Possibly the best guitaristist of all time!

  • The Smiths are just as relevant today as they were 25 years ago, i love them!

  • I love how Morrissey moves in this clip!

It's basically impossible to sing or listen to some of the smiths/morrissey songs and stay still.

but whats up with that lil branch on his ass lol

    peacock?

  • absoloute ledgends (L)

  • hahahaha msi...he tenido frases aun ams gays hahah refiriendome a EL hahaha....si, ojala venga:s...saludos

  • "JOHNNY MARR" made the Smiths who they were.

  • well morrissey and marr were who made the smiths

    he provided the sweet guitar

and morrissey added the best vocals

    thatwent along perfect

and added wiwth perfect bass and drums

  • The Smiths fell to pieces without Marr because non of the other members including Morrissey - possesed the Masters touch to continue on being a great Band. Without Johnny's Masterful Riffs and magic guitar - they were like a

    Silver Ghost RollsRoyce without Petrol.

'Pretty to look at - but no spirit or juice to take them furthur on. And had Johnny stayed - I'm sure The Smiths would have

journeyed on to even greater heights to the Wonderment of Us All ! However I respect Your Opinion .

  • that wasnt why they 'fell to pieces' as you put it, you obviously dont really know the story of why The Smiths split, if you did, your attempt of literary prowess might hold more validity?..

  • "It all depends on 'who's Story and version

you're subscribing to'. ? There's more than One story ! It really doesn't matter at the end of the day . No other Guitarist alive could compensate for the loss of Johnny Marr and therefore they were doomed from the instant he left.

Dont need to be a literary genius or rocket scientist to figure that out !

  • you ask any devoted fan of The Smiths what they love most and they will 9/10 tell you the haunting, brilliant, individual lyrics, yes Marr is utterly superb, but great guitarists occur far more often than lyrisists that can write like Moz

  • **lyricists**

  • "I would have to eat my hat (or words) - and agree with you there."

  • Stop being so pretentious.

  • Why do give valuable time to people who don't care if I life or die...

    Morrisey Wuuu

  • Jazz Bass Yamaha

    Ótima equlização bom groove!!!!

  • Perfect melodic bass lines!!!

Andy Rourke u r So Cute, LOVE U!!!!!!!!!!

  • Another all time classic from a group that knew how to deliver a great song with lyrics of pure poetry....and why are some of you so interested in the sex life of Morrisey...gotta issues yourself?

  • Genius.

  • Morrissey's é o cara pow!

    Adoro esse cara!

    =]

  • My favourite Smiths song, Morrissey and Marr - a genius songwriting partnership.

  • One of my favorite Smiths' videos. He dances so cute. Plus it's a neat tune.

  • Hair.

    o.o

  • This is like the best band in the world, what a sound!

  • Elvisarecleansing...

No...just no they would turn in embarasment at you if you were so lucky...

  • esto es simplemente brillante

  • Amo ese meneo!!

  • Are they gay guys?

  • They're new romantics, same thing XDD My Mum was one... .__. But they're pretty damn amazing.

  • lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • No - just morrisey the singer.

  • morrisey's gay?

  • what ever have you that impression?

  • no, he was celibate, but never gay.

  • absolutely false as fuck you prick

    get your facts right.

  • this is a fantastic creation. whenever i play this song, i forget ending it most of the time. so entertaining. melody is exceptional(don't mind the lyrics)

  • Mozza you sexy guy

  • How on earth do they create such an inimitable sound.

I always wonder what Marr is actually doing with that guitar to get that sound? :)

  • Noel Gallagher reckons even Marr doesnt know how he gets that sound!

  • não curti esse tempo

    mas também tenhgo muitas saudades

  • It is impossible to listen to the arpeggios in this song by the heir-apparent of the late Mr. Harrison, with an open heart, without a tear in the eye. They will be sorely missed. Long live the real Princess in this age of Faux "duchesses". I love you Stephen.

  • saudades desse tempo

  • What she asked of me at the end of the day

    Caligula would have blushed

  • quite simply one of the finest songs ever written.

  • so true!!! morrissey's the core of englis music (art), what appened after is all based and inspired by this great band!!! an oscar wild singing accompanied by mozart...

  • I love this song... amo essa música

  • ah yes mr morrissey at one of his finer momments who else would get away with hanging a small forrest out of your arse pocket pure class

  • why do i smile at those who i would rather kick in the eye! I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour

  • Andy Rourke is really good in this song i love the beat he play in this along the drums

  • what an amazing song. i cant believe it hasnt been commented in a year!

  • wait!. nevermind that last sentence. im stupid...

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!! Cheers from Brazil

  • They're great, johnny marr, a genious. This song reminds me of my high school life. Whenever i hear this song, it gives me a euphoric feeling.. Makes me a lot younger...How i wish i could rewind time back in the 80's even just for a year... Huwahahahah!

  • The different textures Johnny puts into this song make it absolutely superb. Morrissey's wistful lyrics are just the icing on the cake. Brilliant.

  • ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MUITO BOM!!!!!

    TUDO DE BOM!

  • Smiths for ever!!!

  • Beautiful, The Smiths best song

  • I love that overly-dramatic line about caligula blushing.

  • Excellent! I saw a portion of this vid on "The Smiths, Under Review" DVD from Netflix and wanted to see the whole thing. But were there no gladiolas left at the neighborhood flower shop? I think a eucalyptus tree in the TOTP parking lot went missing a branch or two. :) How did that big 'ol bunch stay put in Moz's pocket, another sign of his genious...

  • Johnny Marr = Fucking Legend!!

  • i saw him last week!

  • I remember my college days...and oh, just what would the 80's be without this song?!

  • I remember my college days...and oh, just what would the 80's be without this song?!

  • British pop goes unchallenged because in every generation a band comes out that blows the lid of all the bands around them.

The Smiths are such a band and the tunes and the words gel together so smoothly that listening one time is practically impossible.

  • Perfect!

    =]

  • Simply pop perfection.

  • "dance morrissey, dance."

    -alison

  • The only thing I can say is this song saved my life.

  • That's great good luck.
