They're modified, half artificial girls who have been culled from the hopeless and dying to be used as experimental systems for body enhancement and mental modification. It's why this song fits so perfectly, because while there isn't a lot of direct tragedy in the show itself the whole situation is tragic in itself.

The reason they are little girls is because they're all hopeless and wouldn't be missed when picked up by the "Social Welfare Corporation" for experimentation. Half their bodies are artificial and they've undergone such extreme mental modification they can't even remember their own pasts. The series is not about "little girls with guns" as much as it is about the underlying cruelty of the past that brought them there and their lack of a future.

I always thought and still think this after seeing both seasons that it would be cool if ether a diffrent Orginastion makes simuler killer kids but instead of girls its boys and in the middle of the season the two join forces. or it could be an enemy group using them just thought it all this time and more after Pinoco fight. Yes this is a very traumatic story. I was suprised that the video made it seem like that is the scenario the the anime but maybe I missed something. I did not recognized some of the scenes and wonder if there versions that were specially edited. If not then this creator did an impressive of altering the story somewhat. However, the song and the video got the point across. I am afraid some of the posters may not get it at all.

Henrietta is under mind control or brainwashing. She is acting subconsciously in this act. Hypnosis brings out hostility when a person comes out of it. Her brain is caught in both places. That is why when she woke from her surgery she was crying. Dreams are from the subconscious when things are implanted there is an outflow. I believe somewhere deep Henrietta is trying to resolve her current situation.
