  • We played this in my junior Marching Band show!

  • como se llama el tema?

  • Mistuh I don't wanna kill you and you don't wanna be dead

  • "And now.. America's number one show on pop culture and politics... this is the Michael Medved Show!"

  • "This aint right........and ive had enough of what aint right"

  • We played a medley of this and the theme from Tombstone for my freshman year marching show in band. It was epic on several, not the least of which was we had over 500 people playing it XD

  • This is seriously the hardest song i've ever played in a band! The woodwind parts are just freakin' crazy! But it's awesome though! :D

  • What happened to the dog?

  • @Fallair24 I guess the kid's presentation was so convincing that he got to keep the dog. I'm wondering if the dad was allowed to play golf on Sundays!

  • I really want to play this song! i play french horn in my band.

  • @arrowsreign12 I know! I love this and it would be one of the most challenging things I have ever played and I would to try it

  • @arrowsreign12 Im playing it for my band ad i play french horn the slide at the beggining are reealy hard they go up to high b flat but its great fun to play

  • Some great French horn parts in this one.

  • Elmer Bernstein would be proud!

  • Jesus Payden her old man ain't even cold yet.

  • my highschool wind ensemble played this. i love it so much.. french horn is so amazing!!

  • I played this song

  • OMG! I have seen this movie but forgot the theme. That's where the windows commercial music came from! lol.

  • I've had this song stuck in my head for over 10 years

  • Bad assssssssssssssssssssssssss.

  • @noproblempablo Why can't Bad Ass be a reaction.

  • @MUSICALGUNNUT45 Is this a riddle? I see no reason it can't be a reaction to a bad ass piece of movie score.

  • @noproblempablo No I mean in the reaction bar to the right of the comment bar it was supposed to be a joke but was poorly phrased sorry.

  • Today this rock marks by boundary? Wow, I must have been drunk typing that...

"today my jurisdiction ends here... pick up my hat..."

  • This movie was one of my favorites as a kid, and it is still one of my favorites today!

  • "now i dont wanna kill you and you dont wanna be dead" what a classic line!

  • i played this my freshman year! haha ahh good memories. but stupid french horns always get the good parts haha

  • Theme for Windows 7 commercial about the kid who made a PC slide show to get a dog.

  • My high school's fight song is based off of this. It's pretty great.

  • Only the best western film ever made and equally best score.

  • This makes doing homework soo epic.

  • This year the marching show at my school is western themed and this is the grand finale of the whole thing! I play French horn (mellophone during marching season) and every time I play the beginning it gives me chills. This is such a great piece of music!

  • The Michael Medved theme!

  • I am a sophomore in college and I have yet to play this song...I keep begging my director to let us do it and he said he will think about it

  • Anybody know where one could order the large ensemble score for this?

  • @wilsonmaster973 jwpepper.com

  • Woo! I got to play this on timpani for a volunteer pops band- the song was stuck in my head for months, and now it's stuck in my head again!

  • in my own thoughts this score represents all westerns ever made... it has the classic Ford, and Hawks style to it same with the movie...

  • Great song for a great movie

  • we played this and did an awsome job

  • Lacks a discernible melody, a "hook". Sounds mostly like scene pieces strung together.

"Hallelujah Trail" is far superior and of the same vein.

  • My band plays a shorter version of this song as our fight song and we play a recording of the full version before every game and competiton. this is a great piece.

  • Great song. Thanks for posting, and I hope all the band players who posted on here had/have fun playing the music!

  • Nice mix of STAR WARS and the Magnificent Seven

  • trumpet one on this piece baby

  • You don't know but I have had and still have a Chevrolet Silverado, that 's why I ask the source ... thanks!

  • can you explain what is Silverado? i'm Italian, thanx!

  • @nicobeat2 Silverado is a made up name -- A legendary place if you will. Kind of like the Elysian Fields of ancient Greek and Roman mythology. The name is probably a cross between silver-- the metal behind most of the big mining booms in the old west-- and El Dorado-- the mythical golden city of the Spanish conquistadors. GMC (Chevrolet) has made a line of pickup trucks they call Silverado for many years. In bocca al lupo!

  • LOL omg I'm a dooshy high school student who wants everyone to know how FAB-U-LOUS I am at blowing... a trumpet.

  • @jackriptam why dont you stop being a little shit and actually see how hard it must be to play a piece like this... i'd like to see you achieve ANYTHING in your sad little life :)

  • @rockono4 well, I got you to reply to a stupid comment, didn't I? :)

  • @jackriptam good point ahaha :) clever ;)

  • we are playing this for regular band and it is not easy

  • Ha the high school band played this for their marching show :P it was very good :)

  • i wanna see this movie now !! :D awesome track aswell :) makes me feel all hero-ish hahahhaha :D love it man :)

  • Bruce Broughton, you legend!

  • You idiot! He's hit everything he's aimed at... pick up my hat!

    LOL

  • @sbangstube "Today, this Rock marks by Boundary."

  • I had a girl do that to me once... Didn't make her my wife.

  • Wow, 2 dislikes? Who could ever dislike this piece of music. One of the most underrated films of our time. Its amazing the cast that is in this film! One of my favorite unforgettable westerns of all time!

  • This music makes groceries awesome

  • Today my juristion ends HERE ..

  • Brilliant score to a fun western film and one of my favorite movies ever. Silverado knows how to entertain us.

  • love the amazing things the strings do for the last couple minutes while the brass plays the melody, epicness!!!!

  • I'm in the MCHS Rebel Regiment and we played this song this year for our show "Round-Up". I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • This was our closer for our 2010 show "How The West Was Won" (CHS marching band how the west was won championship performance) Go piccolo!

  • I like Music, but most people who join band are fags. In my opinion of course :)

  • @TheThingsyoudontknow Okay band is BEAST. expecially the MCHS Rebel Regiment. The next time U insult a band nerd think about how tough we are compared to U.

  • @TheThingsyoudontknow Just don't ask them to blow you

  • im a freshman and we did this song in 8th grade and i read some previous comments and college ppl were complaning about it lol

  • @MsYoshininja That's because in college, it's played at this tempo...unlike the symphonic band version...which is horribly arranged.

  • @girolle01 we played it at this tempo anyway lol

  • @MsYoshininja What am I arguing for? Just because you played it at this tempo doesn't mean it sounded good...

  • @girolle01 well i respect your opinion and all, but that was rude. so i'm going to stop replying to you now.

  • @MsYoshininja That's a good idea...

  • Dude my band the MCHS Rebel Regiment's theme this year is "Round-Up" and it's western and this is one of the songs we have to play!!!!!!!!! It's so kewl!! :D GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gotta love this 1985 western film!!

  • i haven't heard this song in over a decade

  • This is beastly.....

  • i have to this my freshmen year for our first band show to say the least i am very excited

  • I have to get my trumpet out and blare the theme.

  • This is my high schools fight song!

  • Anybody know who wrote this? It sounds exactly like something Elmer Bernstein would write, but I've never heard it attributed to him?

  • @pattoncarter - Composer is Bruce Broughton.

I am blessed to own this 2 CD set by City of Prague Philharmonic ! ! ! A gift from a friend who knows my musical tastes to a T. I've made over 550 playlists including 111 lists for every year since 1900. Imagine listening to the pop & disco sounds of 1985 when suddenly this cranks up & blows your doors off ! ! !

I feel bad for the kids who can't appreciate the genius in this just because it's difficult. This play in 2210!

  • I heard the San Antonio Symphony play the original soundtrack arrangement four years ago and it was an absolutely incredible performance. The most amazing part is from about 3:30 to the end. The incredibly fast motion of the woodwinds and strings paired with the melodic augmentation of the main theme by the trumpets is pure genius. This is one of my all time favorite film scores.

  • We played this for our Marching Band Finale last year.

  • This piece blows in band to play. Not only is the marimba part extremely intense and fucked up, it is super fast and has no continuous pattern. Every day we play this, I just hit random notes and pretend I know what I am doing. :)

  • @Jennyizmuah French horn part at beginning is ridiculous.

  • @Jennyizmuah

So, in other words, you have no respect as a musician for this piece, is that correct? That is, in essence, what you're saying. That, and the fact that you've admitted to fucking off when everyone else is at least making an honest attempt to play.

Maybe YOU are the one that's fucked up and shouldn't be in band if you have such a low, ignorant, and uninformed opinion of a fantastically arranged score.

  • @Jennyizmuah I was in band 8 years. You heard this track. Obviously it's playable, Quit complaining & learn your music. You CAN master this if you put your mind to it! Life is full of challenges - this is your challenge now. And if you can't meet this one? Don't you DARE even THINK about having kids someday ! !

Marimba's one of the most beautiful instruments ever! Do it justice! It's all about what you WANT to do!

  • playing a song in band soon called the wild westerns. part of this song is in it

  • my school's fight song is based off of Silverado lol

  • @lighting492

    What school??? lol

  • i play the french horn and i have to play this in austin in may 8

  • Amen, goldengod077. I have a recording of 2001: A Space Odyssey performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic, and it is also a very poor performance.

A great recording of Silverado Theme is performed by the Erich Kunzel & Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. I suggest people listen to that before they give any praise to this version.

  • im doing the wild western that include the magnificant seven, how the west was won, and silverado.

  • i'm a freshman in hs at present. I'm an all regions trumpet player. My goal is to play this piece in my band, on the french horn, before i graduate high school. my band director's going along with it and has agreed to do the piece before i graduate.

  • It's fun. We did it last year.

  • @perrycox29 Post videos pl0x!!! :D

  • @perrycox29 Cool, you chose a great piece to aspire to.... Good luck!

  • @perrycox29 My director is making me play it for a pop music show. I'm a sophmore playing the clarinet for it which is the violin part. The first time I saw it, I was breathless and scared. Good luck on doing though, I know that I'm at a lost with the song xD.

  • @Gurrenlagann153 I played the same part this past year. All I can say is that they seem to forget that a woodwind instrument requires wind in order to make any sound at all. In order to create wind, we need to be able to breathe. Especially in the ending strain, there was no opportunity to breathe. Ultimately, it just became one section in which we needed to hold on tight and hope. Great song though.

  • @perrycox29 I played it last year.AMAZING

  • Damn this piece is hard for Euphonium 2 XD

  • City of Prague orchestra horns sucks... never cease to disappoint...

  • I hear this all the time as the opening theme to the Michael Medved. show.

  • OMG Lol I'm playing this for Honor Band I have 1st Trumpet and after hearing this song I am excited to play this piece!

  • Now i heard this for first time and its amazing!

    Fantastic Western-Score

  • This was perfomed by the Praha Philharmonic, ne?

  • I would love to get my hand on this score.

  • Man this takes me back. I bought this on tape in '85 and would play it all the time on my Walkman.

  • BMR marching band..is playig this for this years show

  • Go Pride Go!!! Central-Carroll Marching Pride Plays this in our show!! It's my FAVORITE part of the whole show... :p ♫♫Go Band!!!♫♫

  • The Troy University Sound of the South Marching Band will be performing this for our 2nd show of the season along with a selection of other western songs called "Go West". Thanks for uploading this, great song!

  • i'ma playin this in marching band(:

    xD

    it sounds shweeet

  • im in maching band and that would be so fun to play at halftime and contests

  • it is fun plus we have this really good writer for our shows and he has us do these crazy formations which makes it a plus were on last this year at USSA finals in Annapolis

  • USSBA**

  • im playing this in band too

    its awesome

  • Comment removed

  • The refrain sounds eerily similar to the refrain from Lock's theme on Final Fantasy VI.

  • I am playing this for marching band too!! Yay marching to westerns!!

  • Man, I was so disappointed when I was watching "The Devil's Brigade" from 1968 with music by Alex North and I recognized the music as being virtually identical to the theme from "Silverado." Great theme in each film, but still a little disappointing.

  • A great movie... and best music! Thank you for posting this

  • Bruce Broughton at his most triumphant :-) He's a master to bring that almost patriotic ring into brass arrangements... I was a fan of the J.A.G. series in part because of Bruce's compelling proud main theme :))

  • played this song in marching band!

  • Same, but in concert band. Nearly got carpel tunnel by the time I got the clarinet part down, but well worth it.

  • Lol. I've seen the clarinet part. The whole last page is just black.

  • And you're so right! I played it in Wind Ensemble! Oh Gosh! Especially first part! I had to work!

  • I play trombone, so I never have difficult parts. Believe me, be lucky you actually have something you can practice. Trombone players get horrifically boring, simply, and easy parts, then we get thrown in college with hard parts and we have no experience with them. It totally sucks. For some reason writers for highschool band hate trombone players.

  • Exactly! Through middle school we have these stupid half note parts and then in high school all of a sudden we have trumpet parts! Sucks sooooooooo bad!

  • I feel you. I'm a fellow trombonist, and our part to this song was painfully easy.

  • Haha...Tuba is twice as worse!

  • That must be a hard part.

  • i'm playing this song in concert band also. nice song

  • Great OST
