Also: people drop-shotted all the time in BattleField 2(not bf:bc2) because the guns were most accurate prone and it disorinted the target. If you went prone while strafing in BF2 your player model would do a little role which was pretty nifty. In the 1.5 patch for BF2 they nerfed the prone spam by adding a period where your gun was REALLY innacurate for a second or so after you went prone.

I believe that the "pdw-r", as it is known in BF3, is a concept weapon designed by the company MAGPUL. MAGPUL also made the MAGPUL MASADA, which was then bought by Bushmaster, who shitted it up and called it the ACR, but that's a different story. I'm not sure if MAGPUL really factory produced any "pwd-r's", apart from the prototypes but since BF3 is set in the future the sky is the limit.
