I've wanted to know these chords for a while, nice they are dead acurate to the studio version, however live he changes them around, perhaps its just easier for him to sing overtop, thanks
That was such a great lesson! I made it all the way through and all of the chords were new to me... what a great song and learning opportunity. Appreciate your efforts!
so great to hear you worked it up!! Hopefully there are some things worth stealing for your guitar vocabulary - thanks for your kind post & all the best with your music,
Is that a McCarty PRS? Sweet guitar, sounds great for jazz.. I have a PRS Custom 24 with thin wide neck. This is probably the best guitar that I have ever owned and I have owned a ton of em. Excellent lesson again you are very gifted. Check out my former guitar instructor on YouTube his name is Eric Wirsing and also his website. One of the most awesome guitarists I have ever known. Great jazzer.
it is.....a PRS Hollowbody - i think it's a great model from them and sounds like you've got a GREAT PRS!! They are really beautiful guitars built with a lot of care and experience. I will gladly be checking out your teacher....thanks so much,
Fantastic song and really appreciate you breaking it down so carefully, I remember back in the day being captivated by Randy's jazz chops on this one and "Blue Collar"
It was such a departure from the mainstream rock stuff at the time and nice of you to mention Lenny Breau, who I understand grew up in the same area as Randy in Winnipeg and shared his knowledge.
There is a great Canadian Film Board documentary on Lenny, worth checking out if you can find it.
hello, and thanks for your kind and great post! LB was IMO perhaps the most under-know guitar genius of our time. His influence was vast, but he himself seemed to enjoy far to little of the due he deserved. I appreciate the info and will be looking for that documentary.
Randy Bachman has been kind enough to re-master some of LB music in his personal studio. I have the first collection entitled - Pickin' Cotten - it blows me away every time i listen. Stay well, your friend,
@tonedr yes, I also picked up the Pickin Cotton from Randy's Guitarchives ... it's fantastic. I was looking for the documentary as I thought it would be nice to see it again. No luck on Amazon or eBay but the title was "The genius of lenny breau" a documentary made in 1999.
I'll keep looking and let you know if I happen to find it.
Great job. This is the song that got me interested in jazz. Before I heard this song I was into rock only. I always thought Mr. Bachman was a very underated player.
dale, thanks for showing one of my all time favorite bto tunes... and also thanks for mentioning lenny breau. lenny was a giant and so much of him is in randy's tune.
Love it! Thanks for the tutorial, I love BTO, Randy said he got some of these licks from Lenni Breau

Thanks Dale, excellent lesson. Randy Bachmans first love was always jazz of which the influence is clear here.
Always liked this song but never attempted until now.
